  1. I just did this as a first run on the instant pot and it was fantastic. Currently have butter chicken on the go, maybe bolognese later. I’ll fill the freezer this weekend at this rate. I was struggling a bit for recipes but I probably just need to start adapting slow cooker recipes. That said, there’s an instant pot recipe app that seems ok and there’s a section on bbc good food with some recipes but most of the dedicated sites aren’t brilliant (that I’ve found so far) or just too US-centric. Pretty impressive though - shredded two big lumps of pork in an hour.
  2. And to her credit, she devoted a whole chapter in her book to absolutely slating one-time boyfriend Brendan Schaub which was quite funny. In some ways, the Ronda days were the best times in MMA. She was ahead of the pack and was slaughtering all-comers with that throw and inevitable armbar. It ended quite badly but it was really fun for a few years. I’m off to google if she’s in the UFC hall of fame already as if not, it’s an inevitability at some point. edit: She’s already in the HOF as of 2018
  3. Not exactly the most direct comparison but I sold my Palit 1070 on eBay last week for €225. I feel like Asus have a better rep so could fetch more than a Palit.
  4. I bought it on release, really excited to have the distraction back during the first lockdown, and just couldn't get into it at all. I slogged away to make progress as I bought it at full price and didn't want to waste my money. I made some progress but went on to other things. I recently tried to pick it up again and just got annihilated from my checkpoint multiple times - it's just not something that you can pick up and play once you're past the first couple of levels. You need to have that muscle memory, to be in the zone. Absolutely unforgiving. That will be perfect for others, but not for me. I think I'll start again, bust everything down to easy and see how it goes. I played so much of 2016, completed it multiple times on different difficulties, found all the secrets- that this one just changed up so much that it took away the 'back to basics' approach to FPS in 2016 that was so refreshing. 2016 Doom is like old school death metal, 2020 Doom is Progressive Technical Death Metal - sometimes I'll be in the mood for the latter but if I'm having a few beers and want to have some fun, it's 2016 all the way.
  5. For what it's worth, I own the Pro-ject DC and I love it. It's been in storage for a while as I'm moving house but I can't wait to get it set up again. When I was originally shopping for one, the people at HifiHut.ie were explaining that you get a lot for your money considering the carbon fibre arm and whatnot when I visited their showroom. I personally haven't been annoyed at the manual speed control as I see vinyl as a bit of a manual pursuit anyway but that's just me. I now have an amp with a phono stage but I was originally using the pro-ject one seen above to the right (the pic is definitely 4/5 years ago - hence the 360/Wii U ) I ended up selling it on eBay and it went for very little, so it would be well worth keeping an eye out for a second hand one for peanuts.
  6. I use MSI afterburner and Riva Tuner. There’s a guide here: https://linustechtips.com/topic/977649-guide-how-to-setup-msi-afterburner-on-screen-display-using-rtss/
  7. I dunno - I’m seeing my 6600k at 100% with a few older titles like Witcher 3 and Rise of the Tomb Raider at ultra settings, 1440p, 144hz. It’s fine - I just turn a few things down but you can experience the bottleneck with a 3070. Nothing that would cause me to shell out straight away but something I plan to do in future. Ideally, it would be nice to upgrade CPU/Mobo knowing you could get a few generations out of the socket. AMD is currently end of line, don’t know about Intel’s current gen.
  8. In just enough time for Cyberpunk, I've finally completed the story in Blood & Wine after about 4 years of on/off playing and racking up 130 hours in the game world. That's quite a lot for me - very likely to be the most time I've ever spent on a single player game. I thought the last couple of hours of B&W were a really good encapsulation of all that is good with The Witcher - the story in the last hour or two was really gripping, the decisions I made and the resulting outcomes felt right based on my actions and decisions. I even enjoyed the oft criticised combat, and death by menu when it came to getting tooled up and prepping for fights. Final B&W spoilers: That was an epic last couple of hours - I was completely immersed. Naturally, I'll keep the whole thing installed and dip into side quests when I need a taste of it and realistically I will never finish all those off. I read that CDP are working on a next-gen update which will include ray tracing and other nice things, so well worth keeping it on the SSD for the future. What a game though
  9. Mine arrived today. Really nice form factor compared to my old GTX 1070. Haven’t had a chance to play yet but ran some quick benchmarks. Pretty impressed with it - thought the 6600k would be causing some issues but seems pretty good to me.
  10. @Lying Cat Yep - that's the one. I had the same view on it - seems fine(-ish, not ideal) for the job to me based on the specs and expected power draw. Take the 2070 Super - 5W in the difference from the 3070 and PCPP reckons it's grand with the SeaSonic. Has to be the connector flagging up an issue. If it blows up, look out for a cheap 3070 with some issues in the trading folder
  11. Yeah - the efficiency is 'at the wall' as far as I know, it'll still get the 520W so I'm unsure exactly why it's incompatible. I wouldn't normally have a problem with updating the PSU but 2021's build is going to be small form factor with an appropriate PSU. I suppose I could still make that work in my current mATX case? However, I'm guessing that means I'll still have to re-cable absolutely everything. The PC is a harsh mistress. Still - if anyone thinks I can get away with my interim setup and the current PSU - I'm all ears!
  12. Er....do I need to buy a new PSU to power the 3070? The estimated wattage for the whole system with a 3070 is just 430W. I'm not sure if Parts Picker is just discounting the 8pin to 12pin adapter that comes with the 3070 or if there's something else limiting about the PSU - I currently use a 6+2 connector for my current graphics card - was assuming I'd be ok to use that the 3070 adapter. Will my interim setup work out or should I just bite the bullet and buy a new PSU?
  13. Yay - I bought a 3070! My cc had an issue with authentication but got through with Paypal.
  14. On the bright side, thank goodness as I really, really didn't want to spend the money
  15. Any idea what time the 3070 fun will kick off at? I can't justify the outlay but if I had one in my cart, then maybe...
  16. Two nice reductions on my wish list that I noticed today. The Corner by David Simon - reduced to £2.35. This has been on my wishlist since reading Homicide - was blown away by that. The Beautiful & The Damned by F Scott Fitzgerald - reduced to free.
  17. An inspiration and a legend. RIP Eddie
  18. I got this with a tenner off voucher that was still live in my Epic store account after their last sale. I am sneakily building up a list of purchased games there. I played so much of these games back in the day that it’s really odd going back now. It’s a lot faster and twitchier than I remember but I am having fun. The warehouse is just tattooed into my brain and have managed to clear that before moving onto the school, which is far less memorable for me as well. I’ll definitely get my money’s worth out of this, but yeah, I’d swap it for a new or remade Skate game without any hesitation.
  19. The best thing about DC’s retirement is that we can all stop copying and pasting the same comments to say we hate him which have literally been on repeat for years in this thread! I actually like DC, ever since he won the Strikeforce Grand Prix as a back-up fighter. It would have been great to see him and Brock. I don’t relish many more years of him and Rogan though - THUG ROSE!!!!...etc.
  20. Ooops, sorry - just spotted this after I posted.
  21. LG Petrov from Entombed has an incurable form of cancer and is looking for some support https://www.gofundme.com/f/support-petrov A classic band to me - have rinsed their discography over the years. I hope his docs are able to keep the cancer under control
  22. Dali Speakers? Very nice - how do you like them?
