  1. I had about 20 hours in from launch on PC - liked it, but didn't love it. I had no major technical issues and it looked great, especially given the scale of the world. I've gone back in out of curiosity to see if the patch has made any difference, and things seem to have clicked for me in terms of systems and putting it all together. I estimate I'm in the final third of Act 2 (unless the remaining missions are huge). I spent about 2 hours stealthily taking out a warehouse of guards and hacking a story thing last night, and it was just fantastic. Then I figured out some body modification stuff, bought some mantis sword arms and went around chopping up gangs, doing a few side missions, playing around with the crafting. I'm suddenly 100% committed to it, and thinking about putting in a good chunk of time over the coming weeks. I had to reallocate all my perk points, but I can't remember what I had before. I think I had some perks in the past that are now locked behind certain 'body' or 'intelligence' levels. I have a bit of a mongrel build anyway, and have ended up not really maximizing any particular thing. I actually wouldn't mind being god tier and completely overpowered as people have described in the past, but I'll have to commit to something, probably the hacking side of things. It's a lot to take in but I'm feeling in the groove now - I know it's had plenty of issues but still very impressive.
  2. I understand this reference. That place has its moments but will get the banhammer eventually. I’m dying at the recent ‘Trugg wawlk’ stuff bapa. Axe jay etc.
  3. I didn't get into it as much as I expected - I have no understanding of the music, but had a similar reaction to others i.e. I am old and no-one expects me to get it but yeah, hard pass on looking up any of the music featured. It was similar to the time he met the rappers years ago, in that the art form still carries a lot of associated risk with the lifestyle. This one had an additional drug/addiction element along with the gun violence, and maybe the average participant was much younger than back then. He definitely wasn't speaking to anyone's parents last time out. We got some Louis mumble-rap which will not be up there with his classic hits. (I watched the Chicken Shop Date episode that @ravonmentioned - wasn't expecting it to be so short but it was good). Anyway, I don't know if anything Louis covered is really that new. This sort of Florida rap nutter was doing similar things 7 years ago (video is age restricted so won't embed). I don't know if this is intentional or just in my head but he's covering classic Louis ground (extremists, rap, porn) where the participants are getting younger and the culture has been significantly changed/disrupted/made more extreme by the internet. I'm now expecting next week to be about a younger cohort getting into OnlyFans and maybe a look into the prescription drug abuse in the background caused by the alienation of the career or something. Probably not though if that sounds interesting, Jon Ronson did a good version of some of this in a podcast series in recent years (the one before 'Last Days of August', called 'The Butterfly Effect').
  4. I’m looking forward to the rap one tomorrow. We might get the next verses in Louis’ classic “my money doesn’t jiggle, it folds…”. I’m expecting a bit more camaraderie between Louis and his subjects at least.
  5. That was good Louis, but really frustrating and depressing. I don't really understand why they never really own their views - they're so hateful already, I'm surprised the nazi salute was so confrontational for the bearded troll ('a surprisingly think-skinned troll' or something like that). I'd never heard of the Fuentes guy but he does seem dangerously 'professional' (for want of a better word) at what he does. The Guardian review wonders if even giving them any air time, even though Louis did a good job of challenging them, is more harmful overall: https://www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/2022/feb/13/louis-therouxs-forbidden-america-review-a-terrifying-meeting-with-the-new-far-right I don't necessarily agree that a Louis Theroux documentary itself will earn them new followers, but I can only imagine all those people are posting reaction videos today and using it to show how biased the mainstream media is, and stirring up their following and maybe it legitimizes them in a way ("Even the BBC want to knock Fuentes/keep the white man down"). It's interesting to compare to the Rogan scenario where he gets a knock for not challenging on his platform, but there's an argument to say that no platform should be given at all, no matter how critical it is. Seems a bit "damned if you do and damned if you don't".
  6. What’s a “good” score in this? I imagine a grid of 2/3/4/5 would be unlikely but damn impressive. Daily Quordle #20 quordle.com It is good though the keyboard merges into the grid for me after a while.
  7. I am very proud of my second guess Wordle 239 3/6*
  8. I really liked the 'Trilogy' EP collection from Carpenter Brut a few years ago. He/She (I have no idea) has Greg Puciato on the new single, giving it serious Black Queen vibes. Fun fact: Mr. Puciato chucked a mic stand into the crowd which hit me in the face in his first Irish show with Dillinger. Thanks Greg.
  9. I thought of Surviving The Game as well. A movie that is pretty good in my fuzzy memory of it but I know it would be absolutely terrible if I watched it today.
  10. This went from “oh yes” to “oh shit” Wordle 232 6/6
  11. Good response and I totally appreciate your view and how you feel about it. I think the show is trying to portray the victimisation that you talk about. The third episode in particular with the cut scene of monologue and the Jane Fonda stuff, there's a few mentions of Barb Wire, and I did think about how the sex tape ruined Anderson's acting career. I had a real sense of dread as good things were happening in her life/career while Rogan/Offerman were putting deals together. I understand though that trying to paint this perspective while the real life person is against the portrayal is counterproductive. It's still a situation worth reflecting on as we have modern versions like revenge porn and the phone hacks that have happened in recent years. Monica Lewinski is someone who only recently got to reframe things - I think for years she was the scapegoat and the figure of fun in the whole situation. There's endless hours of jokes at her expense from the 90's. I feel like this is the time where those women-shaming moments can be reflected upon for what they are. After 3 episodes, I feel like the show is doing ok by Pamela Anderson at this point, but I agree on the Rogan character though that may well change by the end of the series.
  12. I don’t really understand the concern about making a show about a historical cultural event without the permission of those involved. I don’t recall anyone feeling bad about other portraits of real people without approval - is that a done thing? Can’t recall similar concern over the social network or The Crown, and how Bohemian Rhapsody was probably worse by giving Queen the final say. Sorry if I’m dense, but I don’t really get it. I feel bad if she doesn’t like it but it’s part of history for better or for worse no?
  13. That's interesting - thanks for that. I suppose you are a bit limited with effects pedals that can work in that setup - I guess echos, digital delays, reverbs and (maybe) compressors are the main pedals that would make sense. I think I'll go down a youtube rabbit hole now as I'm interested in this - I'm sure someone has managed to incorporate some unexpected pedals into their setup.
  14. Very nice looking piece of kit. I'm curious - do you use the space echo with that gear? Ignorant guitarist here - I know nothing of the mixers and decks.
  15. Yeah, I finished this last night and am similarly unclear on the first point. I think On the second point: Overall, it was alright. I enjoyed it but it feels like the end is in sight and they're willing to just put the pieces together to get it over the line. I feel like we have at least one or two massive story/character leaps to come. Speaking of what is to come next:
  16. Wordle 218 3/6 I should do this inebriated all the time. Lucky with the first and second guess here.
  17. I also think it is poor but will be interested to hear in the context of the album so er, cautiously optimistic.
  18. One less guess than my wife, which is the only result that matters. I feel like I should have done this in 4. The last letter just didn’t pop into my head as a possibility. Wordle 208 5/6
  19. I assumed it would be to confirm my suspicions. Wordle 207 3/6
  20. I am also a noob who has just begun. Yeah, I think you go off and explore them - that's what I'm in the process of doing.
  21. Epic have killed any interest in Humble Bundle for me, alongside other factors (like poor monthly selections the past few years) - so many games I got from HB have shown up as freebies on Epic in the past 2 years+. I just finished playing Shadow of the Tomb Raider in the past week. That was a game where I pulled the trigger on a monthly bundle for $12 with whatever else they were offering at the time. What was a bargain back then is a freebie now. For someone like me who is always a few years behind the release curve, I'm just inundated with top tier stuff for free now. Other humble deals included Control, Batman series, Hitman, Frostpunk, and that's just the top-of-mind games I've played. I've already played them but the Tomb Raider trilogy for free is fantastic. I love those games - switch brain off, enjoy lovely visuals and help Lara murder hundreds of people.
  22. The Keyser Söze of Succession. I loved the finale - I was buzzing by the end of it. I also really liked the speculation about:
  23. 01 - Turnstile - Glow On 02 - Sufjan Stevens & Angelo De Augustine - A Beginner's Mind 03 - Shire T - Tomorrow's People 04 - Squarepusher - Feed Me Weird Things 05 - Halsey - If I Can't Have Love, I Want Power 06 - Badbadnotgood - Talk Memory Everything above has spent good time on the turntable. Long list for potential future inclusion if I get time to get into them (unlikely). Bicep - Isles DJ Seinfeld - Mirrors The Bug - Fire Martin Gore - The Third Chimpanzee + Remixes We Butter the Bread With Butter - Das Album Jerry Cantrell - Brighten Carcass - Torn Arteries New Cynic album (only just heard about this) Mastodon - Hushed and Grim (not doing it for me so far) Hooded Menace - The Tritonus Bell (a doom death band I've been meaning to check out for years) Every Time I Die / Cave In 7" Split
