  1. Hold on, if the target demographic is nostalgic Western men in their 30s then rllmuk is pretty much the intended audience. Other than the terrible music, I didn't recognise in it anything I remember from my early 2000s youth. But then it didn't even occur to me it was going for a skater vibe. The superhero/comicbook aesthetic seems to me a throwback that started much more recently than a couple of decades ago as well.
  2. "Over the course of 2020" according to The Verge. It's all the mainline FFs since VII, with XIV likely coming later: Final Fantasy VII Final Fantasy VIII: Remastered Final Fantasy IX Final Fantasy X: HD Remastered Final Fantasy X-2: HD Remastered Final Fantasy XII: The Zodiac Age Final Fantasy XIII Final Fantasy XIII-2 Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII Final Fantasy XV
  3. I gave Sunset Overdrive a go for an hour or two tonight and it was almost entirely insufferable. I can tell there's an enjoyable game in there if the tone pushes your buttons or you're able to overlook it. Otherwise, it's like your rundown, achy-jointed 35-year-old self is trapped at a college rooftop party in L.A. with a crowd of buzzing 2020s fratboys all wearing the same shortsleeve-shirt-and-chino combo, swigging bottled beer, talking to each other exclusively in Breaking Bad quotes and inexplicably listening to '90s Green Day albums. 'Pranksters have TP'd the city' is an early line from t
  4. Aren't all the Final Fantasy games about to hit Game Pass?
  5. Yikes. Trying to leave your island and someone is raging at me at the checkout desk! I don't know why. Some dude who was blowing into an instrument moments before who then jumped a queue of four people to go home. Airport rage in Animal Crossing!
  6. Thanks for opening! Your island puts mine to shame.
  7. What makes it so difficult is knowing that by choosing to play a game, what I'm really choosing is not to play the dozens of other games I want to be playing.
  8. @DukeOfEarlsfield Whoa! My mistake. Bought.
  9. I was all ready to buy it on Switch a few moments ago, then did a quick search for the Switch icon to make sure it wasn't a dud - and it was. Random game art with no title. I can't stand Switch icons without the title on them. Hopefully they fix it before the discount ends.
  10. Damn! I like how you have to select about seven dialogue responses one after the other just to fly to someone's island, but it takes exactly one dialogue response to banish your favourite villager from your island forever.
  11. Oh no, I accidentally told Hippeux to pack his things and leave, and now all he talks about is his impending departure. Is there any way to reverse this before he moves on?
  12. Much appreciated! Are those stone paths standard ones or did you design them yourself? They looked great.
  13. Ah, I didn't realise there was a separate boss level. Can you make a full course there in a castle setting? That'd be great. So this really is making your own full 2D Mario game. Insane.
  14. Yeah, I don't get it. Perhaps they're counting the bonus toad match-three stages as courses? You can add a few of those in addition to the maximum four courses per world.
  15. Giving it a quick go now, and you can indeed string together eight worlds as part of one project which is great. There seems to be a limit of four courses per world though, making the course total 32, surely, not 40. Where do those extra eight courses go? Even 32 courses seems almost excessive, so I'm not complaining - just curious.
  16. It's not made for turnip exchange kind of play, is it? It's pretty clear they only had local multiplayer and online with real-life friends in mind, where it's already clear who the other player avatars belong to (hence why they didn't think names above heads were necessary) and there aren't many comings and goings. Thanks for opening @murray. I left a couple of fossils you needed outside the museum. Your villagers' little neighbourhood is awesome.
  17. Half a dozen people all heading to Murray's at once, it seems.
  18. I've watched the video and I'm still not sure whether the update enables you to either: - make one self-contained world of several linked courses, and store up to eight of these separate worlds and up to 40 courses on Nintendo's server (i.e. eight different games of one world each, to be shared separately) or - make one large game containing 40 courses across eight worlds, all linked together and shareable with others as one project. In other words, a player completes course 1, moves on the map to course 2 etc etc until reaching the castle (course 8), then o
  19. I haven't watched the video yet but am I reading that right? You can now create a whole game with 40 levels across eight world maps? Can you name each world map and level too?
  20. The real revelation there is that you're both still using the light Switch theme. Disgusting.
  21. Thanks @Exidor! Added a couple of bags to the sea of bells accumulating around you! Then came back for a cheeky second trip.
  22. This. The lightbulb moment for me was when I bought The Outer Worlds full price for PS4 and, even while playing it, couldn't quite shake the needling annoyance that I could have been playing it for £3 a month on Game Pass instead. I believe that was the last PS4 game I bought. (Edit: Nope. That was Divinity Original Sin 2 for £8.) I'm done with full price third party games at launch, with the exception of the few I absolutely can't do without (anything Monster Hunter, anything FromSoftware, maaaybe Cyberpunk). Stuff like RE3, FFVII Remake, Persona 5 Royal, anything Rockstar, anythi
  23. I started La-Mulana 2 properly last night. I'm nerding out over absolutely everything. Lore for miles, NPCs everywhere, superb glossary art. The music! It's a bit on the easy side so far but part of that is being so familiar with the mechanics from the original. This time I'm going digital with the note-taking and map-making. This way I can colour code for easy reference and do electronic searches of key words when I get stuck. Somehow I've already written over 2000 words of notes, and the first five maps are coming together bit by bit. Examples of my doodlings for one early area:
