  1. Scored an unexpected ticket! On my way back, surrounded by salty City fans. What a day.

    The Man Utd Thread

I thought it was you, too. Probably the boycott since '05 stuff...
  3. Of course it won't change. He's already faced several challenges like that in his short time in the PL. Klopp complained about it after the Burnley game and the melts in the media just whipped the 'MiNd gAmEs' narrative out. Just like it was 'unlucky' last season when Pickford exploded VvD's ACL.
  4. His "injury problems" were actually just one long-term injury that was mishandled and has now been dealt with through surgery. Also, Thiago missed a chunk of the season because Richarlison tried to break his leg. It wasn't like his body couldn't stand up to the rigours of the PL or something. He just got targeted by a dirty cunt and was unlucky. See also: - Matip's season ended due to being fouled by Kane (which somehow resulted in a Spurs freekick). Not a big deal, if it didn't happen then it was just a matter of time because he's so prone to injuries unfortunately. - Gomez did his knee in England training. - Jota missed a chunk of games due to being hip-tossed (no foul again) and twisting his knee against FC Midtjylland. - VvD is the obvious one. Pickford should have been locked up for that challenge and the result was our season being chucked into the bin and a freekick to Everton. So many of our injuries were due to bad challenges and it's been infuriating having to listen to people try to explain how Klopp has 'run his team into the ground'. Not saying you're doing that, btw, @feltmonkey ... Kind of went off on a tangent there. Sorry! Shit season, glad we got out of it with something to show for it. I don't think we need a lot of work in order to challenge again next season. Need our players back, the fans back in Anfield will help massively, and maybe not being absolutely abused by referees will help. I can barely bring myself to post on here these days because of the usual shit posters with their usual shit takes, tbh. Salah is an "elite diver" apparently. Although he doesn't even average one foul awarded for every two games he plays. Last I checked there were over 300 players that had been awarded fouls more frequently than him this season. I've watched him trying to carry on playing whilst being headlocked and shit and the narrative is he's a diver. I've watched both Salah and Mane being wrestled all game, every game, and we pretty much get fuck all for it. Defenders have clearly been told don't bother trying to tackle them, they'll just go round you. Grab 'em and let the ref decide. And unfortunately the refs in this league are of a disgraceful standard.
  5. He's out of the ICU and on the mend. Thanks for all of the positive thoughts, guys. I really thought he wasn't going to pull through, to be honest.
  6. I forgot to update you @Dudley: He's off the critical list! Long road of recovery ahead but he hasn't stopped fighting and is in good spirits.
  7. I don't suppose any of you guys could tell me roughly what I should be looking to sell a PS3 Madcatz Fightstick Pro for? No idea what they're worth these days - ebay prices are all over the place. I haven't played a fighter for such a long time now; I'm totally out of the loop.
  8. Yeah, just a wired headset into the controller. So basically a bunch of us have moved over from PS4s and we're all having the same issue. All of our voices dropping in and out and sounding "robotic" if you get me? All have open NAT types. Tried DMZs, port forwarding, different headsets, etc. Edit: got everyone to change DNS to Google's and it seems to have sorted it.
  9. Picked one up the other day. Haven't had an Xbox since the 360 and loading it up for the first time felt like coming home. What's going on with the parties? The audio quality is piss-poor. Has it been like this since launch and is there any word that it's going to be fixed? Is this a problem you've all been experiencing?
  10. Only because my youngest climbs all over me and gets tangled. It's not a huge problem but I'd prefer wireless. Thanks, all!
  11. Finally picked up a Series X. I'm after a wireless headset and I'm a bit lost. Wired isn't an option due to the distance I sit from the TV and young kids that love running about between where I'm sat and the TV unit. I've always just used a cheap headset with a 3.5mm but I mainly play shooters and I'm sick of not being able to hear my opponents' footsteps clearly. Anyone care to make a recommendation? I've been looking at the Arctis 7x and Hyperx Flight. And a bunch of others but I've had enough of looking about and reading conflicting information so I'm hoping you guys can just put me out of my misery.
  12. Bit random but Paul is my cousin. He's very, very ill at the moment with covid.
  13. Forget goggles. You're sitting in the corner, facing the wall with the club safety helmet on at this point.
  14. @feltmonkey I was banging on about Keita in here for ages before we signed him and I'm confident I'll be vindicated on that next season. He looks ready now. I agree about the other positions you mentioned apart from centre forward. The lack of depth on the wings is what bothers me. Origi is decent cover for the left but for the right all we have is Shaqiri or Ox. I'm hoping we make the most of our current position and bring in someone that can cover both sides without us having to make stylistic changes to accommodate them. A lot of people were wetting their knickers when we didn't get Werner - many of them made the claim that he was that player but I have my doubts. He's looked at his best when playing upfront alongside a target man, or playing on the shoulder as the lone striker. Admittedly, I've only seen him play on the left for Germany a few times, but he looked uncomfortable out there and struggled. Once you factor in his wages I think it's easy to understand the club's hesitation to sign him in the current market. I expect we'd have taken the punt if there wasn't competition for him, which would have afforded us some wiggle room to negotiate both the fee, and especially, the wages down. I'm not suggesting we'll be able to get another Mane or Salah level guy. But I would hope we can find someone that suits the profile of what we really need there and not have to put up with people that can 'do a job' when needed instead of someone that can do the specific job we need them to when one of Mane or Salah isn't available.
  15. I'd hope we can find somebody better than Adrian. He did all right when he had that unexpected run at the start of the season but the wins glossed over a few big errors, even then. As harsh as it sounds, we'd probably still be in the CL if not for his mistakes against Atletico. Surely we can do better without breaking the bank. I barely post these days and I'm not sure I've said anything on here since it finally happened. Just wanted to say Liquid Myth and Stilly have been on my mind since the win. I feel so lucky to have seen what the boys have managed to achieve over the last couple of years. Up the mighty redmen and bless you all. YNWA.

    Arsenal

Yeah, sorry to hear that, man. The same thing happened to me growing up. It's shit.

Get him on AFTV with the other kids.
  18. I tried this. When my first child was born I decided to try to 'do the right thing' and follow a local team so that I could take him to games regularly, and not have him following a team from hundreds of miles away that he'll never get to go and watch play live. It didn't work. I just couldn't make myself care. I went to a bunch of games and just sat there bored wondering what the hell I was doing. My dad's from Neasden and is an Arsenal fan, and was a regular at Highbury throughout my childhood. My dad's an alcoholic, and by the time I was getting into football he'd already left. I couldn't support Arsenal - I didn't want to be anything like him. My mum's side of the family are all Arsenal, too. I was born and raised in West London, and being football mad, I got taken to loads of grounds in search of 'my team'. I was taken to watch games at QPR, Chelsea, Fulham, Brentford, Arsenal, Tottenham... loads of places. One of my mum's friends even took me to see Norwich (he was a season ticket holder there). I loved the game, I just didn't understand why I had to choose one team to follow. One of the games I went to was against Liverpool and I don't know why but I decided that was it; search over. I don't even remember what it was about them - although I remember liking the green kit! I took my son (now 8 years old) to Anfield for the Spurs game this season. I can't even explain what his happy little face meant to me as we walked around outside the stadium. I do sometimes wish I was stronger and somehow soldiered on so he could be at the game every week somewhere local. But fuck it. We've had so many amazing times together the last couple of seasons. He was worried before his first game that he wouldn't be welcomed because he's from London. The guy sat next to us asked him where he was from, told him not to worry, and reached across with his scarf for my boy to hold up with him and told him to sing loud and proud to support our team. He was so happy. I can't afford to take him often so I'm aiming for a few games a year. But so far it's been amazing - I've taken to booking a cheap hotel and taking him up for a couple of days, when there's enough time to do so. And I'll get him to some aways from time to time, too. Obviously it's not the same as it is for someone that grew up local. But that doesn't diminish what we feel and experience.
  19. I think the biggest difference was the break. We're always ropey for a bit after a break.
  20. At what point will people stop hating on this guy? Stop doubting and start celebrating, because he's quite likely the best of his era. At this rate, he's going down as an ATG. It would be nice if more fans could let go of their own prejudices and just appreciate him while he's here. Ridiculous performance again. He's on another level to anyone else; he has so many ways to win a fight.
  21. It's really frustrating to watch Traore play like that when I was convinced years ago that he'd turn out like this. He's a force of nature now. Massive win. I really didn't feel like we'd do it once they pulled one back because we were a bit of a mess tonight, on the hole. Wolves were brilliant; glad they're out of the way.
  22. I agree that VvD was coming regardless. Not so sure we'd have got Alisson without the Coutinho money but we were always going to buy another keeper. Either way, it's still impressive business. Coutinho was our best player at the time. It was a massive ask to sell him and improve, even if it meant we had a bit more money to play with. I recall most in here weren't particularly happy when we were linked to VvD at £40m during the summer before we bought him. Then when we failed to get him and didn't sign an alternative, many were complaining and asking if he's 'the only defender in the world' and saying things like he 'won't fix the defense on his own'. The club has done insane business the last few years. Also, not many people seemed to care about the fact that he was unable to invest in the defense for absolutely ages after coming into the club. The whole LDF bullshit got coined in the football thread when I pointed that out to fans of other clubs who were saying Klopp was a fraud, the touchline antics were just an act, and some of them were even saying his position shouldn't be secure, etc.
