  1. Looking at the state of kids comics is so sad, I remember there was a glut and wide range of comics from Eagle, Big Comic Fortnightly, Pocket Library comics to the usual suspects like Beano and Dandy. Anyway Monster was a great read, think it was around during the 80s but not sure, as I could have got them from the local charity shop at Junior School. Anyway Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles – The Last Ronin #4 is out, probably the only thing I grab this week.
  2. Its all been meh, my overall opinion of the series has been disappointing and it was the one I been the most excited about when announced. The only episode I found amusing was the Starlord one. Again these What If? should have been a 2 episodes for each story, they're just too condensed and the pacing is completely off due to wrapping things up so fast.
  3. The best part of Candyman was the the shadow puppetry throughout and the super prominent use of reflections in almost every shot is really impressive to me. The problem I had with this new one was it is as subtle as a brick. It felt kind of insulting having every little thing explained to me like a child. Disappointing.
  4. Thought the movie was ace, loved the bit with Grindr holding back the tears, actually though there was some solid acting surprisingly. But yeah loved it.
  5. Have to disagree, if you watch the video the owner explains why and from watching other thrift youtube videos, you do see these kinds of homes where they have a house sale and everything has to go before it gets sold. It may sound unbelievable but it does happen, and plus I don't think those guy would even have the inventory to even attempt this as a fake stunt.
  6. Forgot to add, Astonishing X-men by Joss Whedon is really good, if you can get past him being a shitty person in real life. If you want a general recap of X-men, there's the excelletn Ed Piskor’s X-Men Grand Redesign https://www.amazon.co.uk/X-Men-Grand-Design-Ed-Piskor/dp/1302904892 Also guys, no love for Nextwave, fun, fun, fun.
  7. Oh god and you be introduced to people like Phoenix Resale which I find kind of scummy. Congrats to them but I also find them off putting as using titles in their videos like "Lazy GOODWILL Employees...EQUALS A Big PAYDAY!." When these Goodwill employees are just sometimes volunteers or at worst get paid the bare minimum in crappy work conditions. Maybe I'm over reacting but didn't sit well with me.
  8. Matt Fraction Iron Fist is a great start, its a modern reworking of the character and well I'm biased but Fraction is one of the best writers out today https://www.amazon.co.uk/Immortal-Iron-Fist-Complete-Collection/dp/0785185429 For X-men I love the Claremont run which is classic X-Men, which is essential reading and subsequently foundation for X-men. However, for modern stuff Hickman's run of X-men is fantastic and a great jumping on part for new readers. Some people don't like it, since it rocks the X-men formula too much with some strange character shifts but I think its bloody brilliant. But I haven't read X-men since the 90s.
  9. I despised Neonomicon, The only Lovecraftian elements were the theme itself. Everything is a little over the top and devoid of subtlety, including the adding of Rape which plays to the chance that Moore only added it for 'shock' value.
  10. Cannot wait, horror anthologies are my jam
  11. I hate to be the guy but you be better off invested just reading the books, the series does not do the material justice.
  12. I really like "Providence" though, and I think that it is the best of the three works, especially for the Lovecraft fan. Lots of references to Lovecraft's stories, but they are naturally incorporated into the story as homages. In fact every issue is basically an homage to a different story, all held together by the central narrative of this ex-journalist who is touring New England as research for his book on the occult. Moore still occasionally uses nudity for shock value, but it's not as gratuitous or as incessant as in "Neonomicon," and I think it works for the most part. "Providence" is just really clever in general, and I would absolutely recommend it to anyone who is a fan or Moore or Lovecraft.
  13. Yup, Fraction's run on Hawkeye is the perfect response to anyone who says Hawkeye is useless because he doesn't have powers. It highlights and focuses on his weaknesses to show you the journey he experiences as he overcomes all of his mistake and acts as a hero. Plus so many great panels...
  14. Excited to see Matt Fraction's Hawkeye run get turned into a show
  15. I do love this new artsy/dramatic/thought provoking style of horror (Hereditary, Midsommer, Babadook, etc.), but movies like Malignant remind me of why I fell in love with the horror genre in the first place. It’s wacky, action packed, doesn’t always make a lot of sense, and just a fun time. I don’t care to know why Gabriel has super powers, I don’t care how cheesy the dialogue and acting was, I don’t care about the plot holes. I had a fucking great time watching the movie and had a smile on my face nearly the entire time. 10/10 for me
  16. Uzumaki and Berserk, those two are like GOATS for me.
  17. The whole thing is farcical once they get to the Police Station, its just goes balls to the walls and is proud of it.
  18. Definitely, its like a homage to the type of movies we see in the late 2000s.
  19. Hereditary is one of those films which delivered the hype and more.
  20. Yeah wish you stuck with it, some of the stuff you had on you're portfolio was really good. But everything just takes time to get good, which is why I'm probably frustrated trying to rush things and getting results. But agree there's so many things you have juggle in 3D that my brain melts at times on what I should be doing, as doing something one way may lead to catastrophic failure later on when texturing, or rigging.
  21. Just read DC Nail, damn that was a good Elseworld story
  22. Of interest is anyone else frustrated how difficult 3D is, so many things you need to learn besides modelling from Retopo, UV, Baking, to lighting etc. Feeling burnt out recently from trying to learn. Tried many things which ended up in complete failure, and I had to scrap them because brute forcing wasn't going to cut it. Be interested to hear other people's experiences. End Rant.
