  2. I was going to guess that film for #2 as well, but because it didn't come up in the prompts list (with or without a space), I went for something else, which turned out to be right. Framed #298 πŸŽ₯ πŸŸ₯ 🟩 ⬛ ⬛ ⬛ ⬛ https://framed.wtf

  4. Game of the Year 1. Tunic (video game) 2. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder's Revenge 3. Marvel Snap 4. 5. Biggest disappointment: 1. My continuing inability to make any progress through my backlog, which means I haven't been able to vote for much in this poll. 2. The continuing lack of budget GPUs available for what I consider a reasonable price. (Which I'm aware is different from what most people here consider a reasonable price...) 3. Yuji Naka being a silly billy. Best visuals 1. 2. 3. Best audio 1. 2. 3. Best writing 1. 2. 3. Best not 2022 game: 1. Hades (video game) 2. Halo: The Master Chief Collection 3. Ninja Gaiden (2004 video game) Best developer: here Best format/console/controller/brain interface: Xbox Game Pass Commentary: Tunic - I haven't played that far into it - I got stuck on a certain boss, and when I resume it, I'll need to get over my reluctance to turn on the combat difficulty aids. I don't think I've even hit the real puzzles that I've heard people alluding to yet. But I think what I've played so far has been enough to appreciate the inspired way the virtual game manual is incorporated. Ninja Gaiden (2004 video game) refers to the version of Ninja Gaiden Sigma that's in the Master Collection, which I played through on both Normal and Hard. (I also replayed some of Ninja Gaiden Black for the first time in more than a decade; turns out Alma on Normal remains a lot harder on Black than she is on Sigma!) Black and Sigma each have their pros and cons.
  5. And therefore also Wings and Frasier... And this has probably been posted before in this thread, but for anyone who hasn't seen it:

  7. I agree that most MCU things have a similar tone to their comedy (the Whedon/Gunn/Black/Waititi films emphasise that side more, whereas a few like Black Panther and Eternals tone it down). But there have been some prominent exceptions where the leading men haven't been that sort of snarky quipper... in which case those lines have been given to supporting characters instead. You're posting this in a Thor thread; even though The Dark World, Ragnarok and L&T were heavier on the comedy, very little of it came from Thor making quips. (It mostly came from his earnest oafishness - or, in Endgame, his fatness, LOL.) Cap and Hawkeye had their deadpan one-liners, but they weren't trying to use snarkiness to be the centre of attention like Stark and Strange. T'Challa and Shang-Chi mostly left the comic relief to Shuri and Katy. The only one of the Eternals who could be described as a quipper was Kumail Nanjiani's character, and he ended up being one of the less prominent characters in that film.

    Crap Maps

I'm playing through Doom 2016 at the moment. The map is good in terms of what information it shows (though I do keep having to check the legend to confirm what the icons mean), and - surprisingly - I haven't found it too hard to recognise specific rooms on it from their shapes alone. My main issue with it so far has been that as soon as you try and move it to look somewhere other than your current location, the panning/zooming movement always feels really sluggish. Also, switching the map view mode to bird's eye view seems pointless, since you lose all the elevation information that's important for navigation. (Maybe it's only there as a tribute to the original Doom's overhead map?)
  13. I genuinely do associate Dark Souls with New Year's Eve, because I remember getting it earlier in December 2013 and playing it late on the 31st. I don't think I've played it on any other NYEs since then, but that one year I did was enough for me to form a strong link between the game and the date! If you want a laugh, here's the post I made at that time, when I began complaining about being unable to kill the Black Knight, and fretting about whether the game would ever click for me: (After leaving the game for several years, then losing all my progress up to the end of the Depths in a 360 HDD death, then restarting it from scratch a couple of years later, I eventually completed it in 2020.)

  15. Microsoft close the cheap Gold -> Game Pass conversion offer. Dreams come true as a Bluepoint Games remaster of Bloodborne is announced, for real this time, not merely leaked or rumoured, actually confirmed. Predictions about licenced games: * Suicide Squad Kill the Justice League will be better-received than Arkham Origins and Gotham Knights, but not as well-received as Arkham Asylum/City/Knight. * Hellboy: Web of Wyrd won't come out until 2024. * We won't see any gameplay footage or casting news of IO Interactive's James Bond game until 2024. * Nothing of Insomniac's Wolverine game either. * But we will see something of Monolith's Wonder Woman game! Yes, that's pretty much a given. Seems only slightly less likely than "a Twitch streamer says something controversial."

  20. A harder one to get started, but once I guessed the first word, the moves to get it gave a couple of greens elsewhere. From there it was pretty straightforward to guess the others - but yet again, my moves to get there were inefficient! #waffle343 2/5 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 🟩⭐🟩⬜🟩 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 🟩⬜🟩⭐🟩 🟩🟩🟩🟩🟩 πŸ”₯ streak: 45 πŸ₯ˆ #wafflesilverteam wafflegame.net

  22. Can we agree on that? Other than Sacha Baron Cohen's comment that one unnamed surviving member of the band wanted the Bohemian Rhapsody film to devote a lot of time to their career after Freddie died (which might not have been him!), I'm not really sure what's so objectionable about him. Politically, I think most of us on this forum agree with his stances against fox hunting, badger culling, and Brexit, right? Him coming back and finishing his PhD after 30+ years away, and finding that the research he did towards it in the early '70s hadn't been rendered obsolete in the meantime, makes a pretty impressive story.
