People have speculated that at the current rate of revealing class cards they'll be done in late June, which coincides with the 8th anniversary of the Naxx raid coming out. Blizz have just said "Summer", so I guess somewhere between June and August

Carine's quite popular in midrange shaman at the moment, but I completely agree, it'll be amazing with him and sylvanas.

Agreed, SI:7 agent is an obvious candidate since he's a 3 mana card, although without the coin he is kind of hard to combo on turn 3

And another new Naxxrammas card, this time the Rogue class card: This card's kind of interesting, it's certainly priced as if the death rattle is a negative, and I can see that it definitely would be a minus in a tempo* rogue deck. it just seems to reinforce the current meta of all miracle** rogue all the time, but I guess it's hard to tell for sure when we don't know what most of the neutral cards are yet. *tempo rogue = a deck where you aim to keep "tempo" over your opponent by always having control of the board by the end of your turn by either using efficient, cheap removal like backstab and eviscerate, or high efficiency minions like Defias Ringleader and SI:7 agent. That means that you'd probably be playing this card on a turn whilst you have other minions out, and when it gets killed you've effectively sapped yourself and lost tempo. **miracle rogue = a deck where you use a few of the same removal cards that I mentioned above, along with assassin's blade until you draw a Gadgetzan Auctioneer and Conceal. Then you use the variety of cheap spell cards that rogues have to draw through your entire deck until you find your combo (for instance, Leeroy+Cold Blood+Attack+Shadowstep+Leeroy+ColdBlood+attack = 20 damage in one turn, from nothing). This card would work well there because you don't tend to have very many minions on the board.

The next Naxx card got announced this evening, this time it's a warrior class card: My first reaction is: now that's more like it It's basically a truesilver champion (Paladin weapon), but instead of healing you get a free whirlwind when the weapon's destroyed. Just thinking about the synergy with Frothing Beserker, Acolyte of Pain etc. has got me all moist.

Apparently Harrison has a special sound effect when you trigger a Snake Trap too (p.s. I added you earlier on if you fancy any games, Balir#something)

My initial reaction to this card is that I kind of hate it. I guess it has some synergy with Noble Sacrifice (redirects enemy attacks onto a 2/1 defender for anyone who hasn't memorised all the cards yet ), but otherwise it requires you to have two minions out and for your opponent not to play around it (with a board wipe for instance) and I just can't see that happening that often. But then I'm often wrong about these things, maybe I'll be eating my words in a month or two.

I assume you're talking about different coloured card backs? There are only three available right now, the default one, one that's granted for reaching "legend" rank (top row middle) and one from the fireside friends promotion (top left, granted by having 3 people logged in from the same subnet and playing 3 games against one of them). If you're rank 20 or above when Season 1 ends on May 1st you'll get the "Pandaria" card back (bottom left above), the bottom right one is apparently "Black Temple" and the reward for Season 2, which I guess leaves the last one in the top right as the season 3 reward. Once you're above rank 20 there aren't any more floor levels, you'll lose stars/ranks for every loss.
  9. Thanks, I took your advice and am 10% into Way of Kings. So far I've really enjoyed it, hard to put my finger on what's grabbed me about it exactly, but it has and that's all that matters. With any luck I'll live long enough to see it finished

That's true, I think I'd just forgotten about naturalize because it's such a terrible, terrible card

Alas I don't think MMORPG knowledge is what you're looking for, unless you're unclear on what nerfing means I'd never played CCGs before Hearthstone, and I found this link really helpful. Anyway: hard removal is things like Polymorph and Hex, abilities that aren't counterable and just straight up remove a target minion from the game, and are very useful for dealing with big problem minions, like Ragnaros for example. Tinkmaster Overspark used to be used to turn a minion into either a 1/1 Chicken or a 4/4 Devilsaur, which was always better than leaving a big scary minion on the board. They nerfed him to be random, which meant he could no longer be used as a reliable removal spell board clear is something like Flamestrike, the goal being to remove all of your opponents minions from play. You can see why I don't think it'd be such a great spell for that I guess. A zoo-lock is a Warlock deck (one of three warlock decks that are popular at the moment) that uses lots of low cost minions to swamp the board. A fair number of them are 2/1, 3/1 kind of cards, so replacing them with a 2/2 minion doesn't achieve much

I don't think there's been any discussion in here about the latest of the naxx cards, apologies if I've missed it. Anyway, Blizz announced this one a few days ago, the Druid class card: My first thought is that it gives Druids some kind of hard removal at last, something that they've need since Tinkmaster got smacked over the head with the nerfbat. I can't see it being used that much as board clear, it's got too much of a down side for that, if you used it against a zoo-lock I can imagine you'd probably end up buffing half the minions

It was my birthday yesterday, and RNGesus/Blizz decided to give me... Malygos. So, er, thanks for that I think I'll add him to my comedy mage deck and see if I can combo him with Antonidus to get infinite pyro-strength fireballs. Rev/Uzi - I made Rank 11 this season, I'm Balir#1792 if either of you fancy some games, I've taken the liberty of adding Uzi already.
  14. I just finished up the Mistborn trilogy after getting the first one cheap on the Kindle Daily Deal (curse you Amazon and your gateway books), I'm assuming that I'll probably enjoy Way Of Kings based on that? Has anyone read anything else that Sanderson has written? Am wondering if it's worth getting hold of some of his older stuff or not...
  15. I'm exactly the same, I read on and off before I got my Kindle, now I've always got 1 or 2 books on the go at the same time. I've found myself reading a lot of stuff that I wouldn't otherwise have because of the absurd cheapness of the daily deal as other people have said, plus I don't have to make room in my house for all the books after I'm done (I don't read the kind of book that you'd be proud to have on display ). I've not bought a dead-tree book since I got it actually, and I don't think I will again.

Before Battle.net all went wrong this evening having this out on the board was definitely my highlight: Funnily enough I won that game a turn or two later
  17. Check the Demographics screen to see where you're at with comparative army strength. In my experience people aren't so keen to stab you in the back when your army is bigger than theirs, I always aim to be rank 2 or 3 in the game. Of course, that always leaves you open to the temptation of being the one doing the stabbing... The way that the computer trades luxuries is quite predictable I've found. If you ask for one that they have only one of they'll require ludicrous things from you, but assuming that they're neutral or better they'll trade you one they have at least two of for 6 or 7 gold a turn, and equally they'll accept those terms from you.
  18. Weeks, months, years... What is time anyway but a flimsy man made construct designed to restrict your ability to tend to your true calling? Away with it I say!

It's very good. Ranked can be a bit of a bloodbath early in the season (it resets once a month), but give it a week or so and there's not much to complain about there either.

nnnggg, I told myself I'd wait for the UK release before I installed it, and then you go and post exactly how to go about getting it right... fucking.... now.... I'm not strong enough!
  21. I was going to quote the existence of the complete edition as evidence that they're done with Civ V expansions, but then that's never stopped people like Paradox...

Was it a Hunter by any chance? Hyper-aggressive hunter is definitely a thing According to the devs the game aggressively adjusts your MMR (the hidden matching making value that the game uses to find you opponents) early on, so if you stick with it for a few more then you should start to run into more suitable opposition. edit: Just realised it's you I'm replying to Moz (I've been at the wine ) - I guess you know what MMR is based on your exploits in the DOTA2 thread

If there's anyone reading this thread who's still on the fence about giving this game a go, Eurogamer have their 10/10 review up http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2014-03-17-hearthstone-heroes-of-warcraft-review edit: I'm Balir#1792 if anyone wants to add me for a few games. My season best is about Rank 12, so I'm about of average competence
