    Crackdown 3 - February 15th, 2019

Pardon me, princess, but that aint gonna happen. Im not talking about the syndicated press (if thats still a thing) who by all means appear to have some kind of editorial management of reviews and scores. I mean all of the one-man sites out there, who dont adher to any kind of journalistic pedigree, but still appear on the ratings list next to the more trustworthy sites on Metacritic and other places. Theyre the ones making money off feeding their audiences with exactly what they want to hear, and pose a huge problem for the gaming industry in an increasingly toxic environment. These guys are just waiting with their forks and knives, and have no intention of actually reviewing anything but rather of finding the next piece of meat to cut into for the pleasure of their idiot audience. Also in this particular case, the debate over CD3 feeds directly into the Xbox/Playstation console war, with the CD3 review thread on resetera blowing up with all kinds of hyperbole around Xbox and bringing all of the nutters out in one place. The reviews from most of the larger sites are just fine with me - theyre wrong, but still fine. At least with Game Pass, people can review the games for themselves. Which is exactly what has happened, when people express disbelief in what they read versus what they experience.

Its exactly the same on resetera. https://www.resetera.com/threads/crackdown-3-ot-quack-quack-motherducker.99429/ Also reddit threads are full of love for the game. Seems like the only ones fueling the hate are clickbaiters on YT and bottom-feeding reviewers who rely on their subs for sustenance. Most of the people actually playing it from a consumers point of view appear to just get on with it and enjoy the game.

Have you pre-loaded CD3 on your xbox yet? They are actually two different installs on the hdd, unless they will be merged later. One for the campaign and one for the wrecking zone. It doesnt look like you can access the wrecking zone at all from within the campaign game. So theyre not really modes as such, as far as I can tell, but two different games you have to start up separately.

Ive read some of the previews and I wonder what some sites were expecting? Two things mainly: a lot of focus on the multiplayer part of the game, which was never a big deal for me with the first CD. It was all about clearing the city and finding all of the orbs. And then Polygon complains over how you can not use cloud tech to destroy the environment in the singleplayer, which is a ridiculous proposition considering how you are supposed to learn how to scale the buildings in order to reach said orbs. Part shooter, part Mario style platforming. If you could destroy the buildings, the orbs woud just come raining down from the sky!

    Sea of Thieves

I dont mind playing with or against PC folks, in fact most of the people I have added to my friend list and keep playing with are on PC. I will go for kb+m myself when that option becomes available later, but then mostly for text chat as I dont always feel like talking to everyone I meet. And I dont think kb+m is such a great advantage for the combat here as in other games, but I can understand why some people would like to play on equal terms. Its great to have the option any way!

    Rllmuk's Official Sales Figures

Those attachment ratios for Nintendo are something else. The best selling game on the PS4 is Marvel´s Spider-Man I think, with around 12 million copies (or maybe Uncharted is a bit higher now), with 90 million consoles sold. On Xbox, PUBG has sold 8 million+ (probably a lot more by now since this was July 2018 numbers) across 41 million consoles. Great to see Nintendo doing so well with the Switch, in fact all of the platforms seem to be very healthy at the moment.

Epic trying to beat Steam the wrong way?

I havent elected to ignore anything, other than Harsin himself for his ridiculous ad hominems on my character in every other thread. To answer your question: that was a DICK move by Microsoft, and its not okay at all. And Ive been become increasingly frustrated (from a personal point of view) that they keep doing this, and how they and Epic seem to agree on these terms of engagement. Like how they simultaneously have made a deal with Zen Studios for respectively Xbox and PC exclusivity for Operenzia, which means that PS4 players wont be able to buy the game at all, and PC players are forced to purchase it and play it with an always-online Epic launcher. Thats not cool at all. The only games that should allowed to be exclusive to any platform are first-party games, and then games that more or less are funded for some reason by that platform holder.

Epic trying to beat Steam the wrong way?

But this is a 3rd party title. An apt comparison would be having to use Epic launcher to play Forknife. And I think Valve tried to make the argument as well that they wanted HL2 multiplayer to be secured by their VAC system, which to this day is one of, if not THE, best anti-cheat systems around. Counterstrike was already on Steam and using VAC for the same purpose since 2002.
