  1. That would be my latest impulse buy, currently on its way over from Amazon. I only heard about the game on Friday, which happened to be the release date, thanks to the glowing Gamespot review. It sounds utterly brilliant, and despite not having played (or even heard about) the original I just know I'm going to love it. Unless it turns out to be pap. It isn't, right?
  2. There is a seperate 16 player co-op campaign mode as well as the standard multiplayer co-op stuff, although they wouldn't show or even tell me about it at the last GRAW PR event. It's entirely seperate to the single player campaign though, set straight after the events within. That's all anybody really knows outside of Ubisoft I think.
  3. Actually I really liked Voyager for a while, before it descended into utter rubbishness a little after half way through. The writers just seemed to run out of ideas, and turned it into a soap opera that happened to be set on a space ship. They also made the Borg rubbish. Before that point there'd been some cracking episodes though. The Killing Game two parter is probably my favourite, where the ship was taken over by the Hirogen hunters and turned into a big holodeck with the crew brainwashed to play roles in each setting (it wasn't "just another holodeck story mind", honest). The series also introduced the rather cool idea of the 29th century Starfleet time travelly dudes too, which developed into the rubbish temporal cold war non-plot in Enterprise. I thought most of the characters were pretty interesting too, but everything good about them seemed to be played down or fogotten as the series progressed. Still, it wasn't a patch on DS9. The last two series in particular were brilliant, and I loved the way it branched out into more fantastical ideas.
  4. Whatever you do, don't try and jump forwards. Just hit the jump button on it's own and you should be thrown nice and high.
  5. Gameplay are pretty much guranteed to get the game to you the day before release, or even two days before if their recent performance continues as it is.
  6. Indeed, as does Drill Dozer. Chock up another one for the overflowing "to buy" list.

The secondary objectives are my only real issue with Black, the other problems remaining safely within the "niggle" boundary. On the harder difficulties they force you to aimlessly comb the level for items that really have no logical business being there at all, detracting from the explosive action that defines the game and adding absolutely nothing to the experience other than needless frustration. Goldeneye and Perfect Dark added meaningful objectives with each difficulty level that actually made the game more fun, and if that's what Criterion were aiming for then they've quite spectacularly missed the point. Luckily, the rest of the game more than makes up for this for me. I just hope they don't bring them back for the sequels.
  8. Same here, but I remember something similar happening on Play.com with their 360 Live Gold card mistake. They stopped taking pre-orders and then sent out "Pay full price or not at all, bitches" emails. Let's wait and see what Amazon do.
  9. It's a whole new campaign, specifically designed to cater for up to 16 players at once. To me at least, that sounds far better than shoehorning such a feature into a game geared for one player and a squad of four.
  10. That's got to be a mistake. £20 off the RRP? Still, I'm not complaining. I'm keeping my Gameplay order for now though. Hell, I might just keep it anyway for the sake of having two controlers.
  11. Don't worry, it's impossible to change the order in which you fight the colossi. You must have just missunderstood the description.

This is available for a measly £2.99 on the Gamestation website at the moment. A Link I couldn't resist it for that price. I've been interested in the game for some time, but I've been wary about spending too much money on it in case I ended up hating the thing. Quite looking forward to it now though.
  13. There is indeed a progressive scan option, and good luck with the missus.
  14. So presumably you would have preferred an all new, more "arcadey" Half Life game to be released on the Xbox in place of the real Half Life 2? There's really no good reason why Modern Combat is getting a 360 port when it could easily handle the real thing.
  15. In Morrowind most of the characters in each area had identical (text) conversation trees, along with a few canned soundbytes. So no then.
  16. All three are diferent games. The Xbox and PC versions are focussed more on action and tactics respectively, while the 360 game occupies some kind of middle ground.
  17. Result! It turns out it was some kind of Safedisc copy protection issue, despite the complete lack of any kind of illegal copying software or even Daemon Tools on my system. Another brilliant example of copy protection harming legitimate consumers then. Anyway, if anyone else encounters a similar problem I had to unplug my DVD RW drive as well as running a safedisk hider thingie to work arround the issue. PC gaming rules.
  18. It's a fault, because in my case the disk was already in. Also I find it interesting that it used the term "CD" for a DVD re-release. It's a documented bug anyway like I said.
  19. Speak for yourself. Tiberian Sun doesn't load at all for me, insisting that I need to insert the correct CD. EDIT: Generals has the same problem it seems. That makes two unplayable games for me so far. Super. It's one of a number of documented bugs with the compilation at the moment, but luckily EA are apparently already at work on some patches. In the meantime I've been enjoying playing the original C&C for the first time in ooh... ten years.

Actually that's not entirely true. If you can manage to get Yorda to one of her doors before taking out all the enemies in the area, her magic will kill them all at the same time while opening the door. I only managed to do this a couple of times, but it is possible. Also the game is magical. On my second run through I played through the entire game in a single sitting, which passed in a flash. Definitely one of my games of the generation.
  21. ← Actually... I've just finished the game myself, to be greeted with a very unexpected ending. I had a very different idea about where the plot was headed, so needless to say I was a little shocked. The last colossus was incredible too.
  22. Yeah I spent ages trying to reach that bastard's back. I managed to grab onto one hand hold pretty quickly, but fell off. That opportunity never came again, and I eventually had to take a much trickier route. That was one colossus I didn't feel at all bad about felling.
  23. I've lterally just beaten it myself, and I think it could well have been my greatest ever gaming moment. Wonderful game.
