  1. It was superb, but you're definitely not alone. There was a thread here for a start. It was however rare case of a studio keeping a show going almost entirely due to critical acclaim over the number of viewers.
  2. Nah, this will be ace. Presumably this will just be for a special.
  3. I don't think that's right, or at least I've never seen it described as a docudrama before. All the sources I can find list it as a historical drama, which is how I always viewed it.
  4. It's been a while since I've played real life mini golf, but I can't say I felt like I needed any additional peripherals when I played. I'm sure it adds to the experience, but also greatly increases the risk of damage to anything around you.
  5. We already have a few times now, I think. There was Pike's vision of the future way back in Discovery (assuming that was the Enterprise), which was shown again in the first episode of SNW. I'm pretty sure we saw it as it currently looks in that first episode too, with the TOS style engine grill as well as a vertical warp core.
  6. I picked up my Quest 1 for the first time in a while yesterday, intending to get it wiped and ready to sell. I love VR, but due to other stuff going on and, well, Elden Ring, I just haven't been using it much. I figured I might as well get some money for it while it's still worth something. Anyway, I tried out Walkabout Mini Golf as something of a send-off. I'm now now longer selling my Quest 1. It's so good! The Quest is just endlessly surprising really. I'd obviously heard good things about Walkabout, but I wasn't expecting it to feel quite so tactile and immersive. I feel like I'm playing actual mini-golf, albeit on ridiculously elaborate courses. It's a little harder to judge power than in real life, but that's about it really. I'm hoping the Quest 1 will last me until the Quest 3 finally comes out, but we'll see.
  7. Maybe, but unlike the other new live action shows this seems to be much more of a traditional, story of the week thing. Both episodes so far have satisfying, self-contained endings which will hopefully continue, so even if they go for a daft, galaxy in peril finalé it's not like the earlier episodes will be any worse as a result.
  8. Speaking of which, Also, so far we've got two self contained stories with a bit of character development to link them. More like this please! Along with the "these are the voyages" intro this is the first of the new live action shows that really feels like Star Trek.
  9. This was really good this week. Felt like a proper big budget Star Trek episode. It's also managed to make me care about most of the bridge crew already, which Discovery hasn't managed in four seasons.
  10. I think that's the one I'm thinking of. My brother had the PC version at the time.
  11. Didn't that kind of happen at one point? I'm sure one of the old FIFA World Cup games allowed you to at least play historical finals or something like that.
  12. I don't know if you're at the same grace site, but for me the run was just a case of sneaking past the first knight and legging it down the stairs to the fog door. Nobody would follow so you have all the time in the world to summon the AI help.
  13. From the sounds of it, it wouldn't add much. EA have been claiming that all they really got out of the license was the brand name, with all the real teams being the result of loads of individual licensing deals.
  14. I'll probably read the YA High Republic books at some point. It's really annoying that you can't seem to buy the YA stuff as ebooks in the UK though.
  15. Based on Lost Stars and The Falling Star, I'd recommend anything by Claudia Gray if you're after a good Star Wars read. Lost Stars is probably perfect actually, as it focusses on two original characters during the OT, who go from being childhood friends to serving on opposite sides of the Galactic Civil War. It's technically a YA novel, but I wouldn't let that put you off as it's excellent. It's also more or less standalone. I did really enjoy the High Republic trilogy though. It probably wouldn't fare much better than Thrawn in the "hundreds and hundreds of characters" area, but they're all great and I really cared about them by the end. All three books have different strengths in my opinion, but they're all good in their own way. I was intending to read the Thrawn books at some point though.
  16. It "exists" in the form of a massively stripped down, playable alpha. The release date is currently "no earlier than Q3 2023". Heck, it's been playable in various forms for the better part of a decade, but the actual promised game they're supposedly developing is clearly never going to happen. Like people keep saying, why bother finishing the game when people will happily pay crazy money for endless jpegs? They're now claiming they're hard at work on bedsheet physics.
  17. Here we go. I found my Kickstarter pledge: Estimated delivery: Nov 2014. Status: Not provided.
  18. I think I do, although I'd forgotten that until about a second ago. I'm pretty sure I tried out Arena Commander or whatever it was called way back when, but haven't touched it since. That was back when it felt like an actual product instead of a blatant scam.
  19. I finished The Falling Star yesterday, and finished the High Republic trilogy along with it. It was a great read, and surprisingly dark. The trilogy has been on quite a journey since Light of the Jedi. I'm really keen to see how the High Republic setting is developed from here. The trilogy did a fantastic job of setting everything up, and it's really exciting to think about all the possibilities from here on out. I think the setting offers way more freedom than the movie time periods, and so far there's little in the way of core canon to get in the way either. I've got the first two comic volumes ready to read, and no doubt destroy my mental images of all the characters and tech from the novels.
  20. There's a slim chance as well that Stewart might bring back a bit of Picard if he's bouncing off the old cast.
  21. I need to listen to it more, but after my first listen I didn't think much of it in the end. It was definitely much better than Everything Now, but nothing reached out and grabbed me like the songs on their first three albums.
  22. I started watching this yesterday, and somehow ended up watching the whole thing in one go. It was very watchable, with a great mix of drama and more light hearted moments. I felt the actual concept was a bit odd though. Why wouldn't these characters simply be fired if they're supposed to be so bad at their jobs? It worked though, so whatever.
  23. Not quite like this. Most surprises are, well, a complete surprise. All a showrunner has to do is stop the existence of the surprise from leaking. When it comes to a new Doctor, everyone knows it's going to happen and what it means, so everyone's trying to find out. The only comparable thing I can think of is James Bond.
  24. I reached the Godskin Duo today. After a few attempts I had an amazing fight where things were really going my way. I thought I'd won when... Off it goes. Maybe tomorrow.
