  1. Guns and Roses made two fantastic albums, Appetite for Destruction and if you cut out the crap ones from Use Your Illusion I and II, then you'd have a killer second album.
  2. She really is a money slut, isn't she? No principles, apart from taking the money. If it was that important to her, then surely she has earned enough in her life to go "fuck that for a game of soldiers"? I mean, its not as if she is getting a million for it. I suppose lorryloads of fake tan cost a lot of money.
  3. Yes, its amazing how many people fail to get through racking up those 60ps, and then those that do get through get it wrong. A staggeringly high number, beyond the realms of probability. Suckers, each and every one.
  4. Bomber got the wrong contradiction: But wait!
  5. Actually, it reads like a list of "look who I know".
  6. Rowan Atkinson is a comedian in the way Ronnie Barker is. A fine, fine comic actor - however Atkinson did tour (I saw him live, a long time ago) and he was funny as fuck. Johnny Vegas is utterly hilarious when in the mood - one of the few comedians I've seen live where it physically hurt to laugh after a while. Noone is as good at bouncing off an audience as he is. Problem for Vegas is that TV doesn't like that kind of thing too much. You can't expect him to go off on one and then worry about overrunning. Carrott was excellent in the mid-to late 80s, and did as much as any to evolve from being a mainstream club comic to showing an alternative edge.
  7. FIve, last night. Though its a repeat from about a year ago. And the poster who say Richard Ayoade for Best Comedy Character is fucking mental. I mean Darkplace was good, but hardly a classic.
  8. Couple of points: The "daughter" bit. It reinforces the relationship with Newt, but it also provides motivation for Ripley to go back. From memory, Burke has a conversation with Ripley that suggests she's stuck in a dead end job, instead of being out in space. (For some reason "you can get your ships licence back" sticks in my head. Probably wrong.) Anyway, Ripley realises that with her daughter long gone, shes got nothing to stick around for and maybe the nightmares will go away. Sentry guns: The first attack beats the Aliens. But they avoid them for the second attack, which shows that the Aliens don't just kill, they learn.
  9. [to Cyrus, while holding a gun] Pinball: You didn't mean that "two-bit negro crackhead" shit, did you? Cyrus Grissom: Give me that gun. [takes the gun] Cyrus Grissom: Hell yes, I meant it. Wonderfully silly film, for all the right reasons.
  10. Thats true, he's promoted Asian cinema for a long time, certainly early 90s (he did an anime thing that I briefly was in the background of). Not sure how he got into it though. I mean, the only route he will have had to discover the delights of Asian cinema would be the same as the rest of us, through badly copied subtitled pirate videos. Good job he doesn't appear on adverts warning us of the evils of copyright theft...
  11. The whole point is that she is supposed to be a bit dispy and bumbling, but generally (end of Xmas Invasion apart) doing The Right Thing. Like the way she always introduces herself. Bumbles a lot, but utterly convinced when she has decided upon a course of action. I think it is an excellent character.
  12. NINTENDO IS TEH DOOMED!!11!!one!
  13. Little Britain best writing? Ronnie Barker is hardly in his grave and he's spinning. Ashley Jensen wins two awards for remembering her lines and not bumping into the furniture? At least there is the award for Best Standup Performance. Oh, wait. Nope, after a couple of years of awarding it but not broadcasting it, they quietly dropped the award a couple of years back. And now have no award for a live comedy performance at all. Not a bad decision, I suppose, after all Jack Dee, Ricky Gervais, Victoria Wood, Peter Kay, Paul O'Grady, Mark Lamarr, Simon Pegg, Sean Lock, Rich Hall, the Mighty Boosh... they all got where they were without learning their craft by performing live. </sarcasm>
  14. Proper (un)reliability. As in things breaking occasionally, and you having to deal with it. Trying to nurse an ailing engine/gearbox to the end of a long race. A puncture. Oil on the racing line. Much more interesting than realistic nosehair on the spectators.
  15. They're not even close. On paid performance only (i.e not including advertising or merchandising) its probably Bernard Manning. Though Mick Miller pulls down a fair wedge and is not only much funnier, but is a stonkingly good bloke to boot.
  16. "He's eating the BMW!" Getting out of the car park was hilarious, though.
  17. Quite monumentally 80s. Plot is High Plains Drifter with power ballads. Thought the explosion of the tune-up shop was well done. And he did look like a shorter Stig, too. Could have sworn there was more norkage from Ms Fenn, but then that could have been an overexcitable teenage memory.
  18. The Poundstretcher Corrs. Me and the GF keep the telly on ITV after Millionaire to see what the Chico fuss was about. Jesus, they scour the country and end with some absolutely talentless dreck, don't they? (But enough about Kate Thornton, the acts as are as bad, oh-ho.)
  19. Back to the 80s, a silver bloke with a car, Charlie Sheen, Sherilyn Fenn with her norks out.
  20. If he's so popular, how come he was in the bottom two? Anyway, the only thing that saved him this week is that people prefer pointing and laughing at the village freak, whereas they can't be bothered with just plain talent vacuums.
  21. IGN runs XBox 360 knocking article - "IGN are just a bunch of wanking fanboys" IGN gives XBox 360 launch lineup game 9/10 - "See, I told you it was a great console".
  22. Perhaps I missed something. If the parental lock is Live-based, then if the XBox360 has never been on Live, then the parental lock will never work, no?
  23. You have absolutely no idea how old I am, do you?
  24. What happens if the XBox360 isn't on Live? (And never has been.)
