  1. Just started the third dungeon area and I was like: ‘oh great another dusty Goron mine’. Then I hit the crystal and I was like: ‘OH SHIIIIIIT!!’.
  2. @Jamie John I can totally see this. Zelda games don’t lend themselves too well to multiple play throughs. Even 10 years later I could still remember the opening section to Skyward Sword, though thankfully I never played much beyond that. As for the combat feeling scrappy, it was the same for me too - felt like I was madly waving the stick around at first - but when it clicks it’s precise and super-satisfying. So much so that I think I’ll miss having it in other Zelda games. I think the moment it clicked was while fighting the lizard enemies in the second dungeon.
  3. I didn’t get very far in the original version, which was due to a combination of things, and nothing to do with the core game. I’m not a graphics snob at all, but like all Wii games it looked awful on a big HDTV, the motion controls just required a bit too much effort and setup to play, and it probably did have some more annoyances I’ve forgotten about that have been fixed in this.
  4. I’m absolutely loving this, about 9 hours in and I’ve just ‘unlocked’ the second dungeon, taking a very leisurely pace. It’s so much better without the motion controls, which were always too imprecise and take too much effort to use. Like, I just want to lounge there and play some Zelda y’know? Not get a full body workout. The ‘hold L’ camera movement was a pain at first, but I’m strangely ok with it now. Kind of do it without thinking, and it’s quite similar to the slightly odd camera controls in Metroid Prime. You adjust to it, and actually having any control of the camera is a huge improvement. And I just love the overworld, the puzzles, the flying around (again, made better by button control). Such a lovely, relaxing game to play.
  5. Tried it on my MacBook, 5GHz and Ethernet, different browsers, and on my iPhone with 5GHz WiFi. 200Mbps Internet, 5ms ping to the router. Utter, utter shite. Tried it a few days ago away from home on my iPhone (in Oxford), also using Virgin Media, and it was pretty playable. A few little hiccups here and there, but definitely good enough. Back home in Manchester, it’s shite again. So it’s surely a location thing, distance to nearest data centre or something? I dunno.
  6. Can someone put the inevitable twist ending in spoiler tags for me? I’ll never watch this but I’m interested to see how it ends.
  7. But that’s exactly what made it a great skit.
  8. The terror taxi skit justifies his inclusion though.
  9. It really is one of the most baffling control decisions for a long time. I’m basically playing the game holding ‘L’, because I can’t not waggle the r-stick incessantly, especially when the camera doesn’t do a great job of following Link around. It makes no sense either, as you need to press a direction on the r-stick to draw your sword, so there’s no reason they couldn’t have mapped that to another button to toggle camera/sword control.
  10. The Kenner toy series has lots of stuff they could take inspiration from too. There was a snake alien, a rhino alien, a gorilla alien, a wild boar alien, a bull alien, and many more. Perhaps a zoo crash lands on LV-426, then somehow makes its way back to earth.
  11. The camera controls are poor - why do I need to hold the L button to move the camera? I wouldn’t mind, but the camera absolutely refuses to follow Link, and basically points in the same direction all the time. Gah. It’s the best game I’ve ever played though 10 out of 10 goty.
  12. I’ve delivered a barrel to someone, taken a shit, now I’m feeding a cat. It’s so good and I’M HOOKED.
  13. Try http://smile.amazon.co.uk if it isn’t working elsewhere.
  14. Happy new(ish) Zelda day, people! Just remember when you play it: you’re not actually enjoying it, it’s simply the rose-tinted specs. Go and play a real game like Ratchet & Clank Rift Apart instead.
