  1. Fancied putting together something a bit Cthulh'esque to hold some of my RPG dice - this is the end result (crap phone camera doesn't do it justice really)
  2. What an absolute shocker, such terrible news. In the age of internet rumours and gossip over every little thing, the fact that this was kept hidden for so long has made it even more of a shock.
  3. This looks amazing, can't wait - hoping it will be this years Watchmen equivalent for great telly. Also Yogsothoth for the season finale or complete bust! (I've not read the book or anything, so have no idea).
  4. I've had pretty good service from Thirsty Meeples the few times I've used them for some Arkham Horror stuff. Always quick to dispatch and well packaged - postage always feels a bit steep though. Zatu's prices are good but their pre-order system really annoys me. I refuse to pre-order or order anything marked as a restock as they take the money straight away. In the current climate I'm not doing that and they really need to think again about it (even if they just took a small deposit instead of wanting the whole thing up front for something that could be months down the line). Also their pricing can be a bit scalper'ish. I've watched an Arkham Mythos pack go from £11 up to £30 in the space of a few weeks as they started getting lower on stock. Also anecdotal tales elsewhere (okay, it was on BGG) that if you leave stuff in your basket then the price mysteriously starts to creep up. Not seen that myself but always something to bear in mind if you're using them.
  5. I've fallen down a bit of a Blackstone rabbit hole looking at the game on Youtube. These speed paining guides are brilliant and the results really good - most of the techniques and washes are well within my capabilities after spending the last few years fixing paint defects and customising Marvel Legends figures
  6. I like the look of that - reminds me a little of Space Crusade / Space Hulk (another part of my youth) but with more modern play mechanics. The character designs just ooze that usual Warhammer 40k level of cool too. Not too sure of the price-point though seeing as I've already spent a load on Arkham Horror stuff of late. Still playing my way through that but fancy something else to break it up a bit.
  7. In a vein attempt to further recapture my youth I've been looking at Heroquest style games. I did think of picking up FFG's Descent 2nd Edition but I'll be playing mostly solo or two players at most (whenever I can persuade my partner to sit down for an hour or two and play). Looks like there's tonnes of content for Descent but really disappointed to find out the app for GM--less play doesn't cover the campaigns in the box and are separate (and you even have to pay extra for some of them). I think you can get fan made modules that act as a stand in but they need a lot of extra cards and management as a result. Also it looks like it's getting increasingly hard to get hold of anything outside of the Core box (possibly due to the new Legends of the Dark box FFG teased this week). I've wondered if Gloomhaven: Jaws of the Lion might be a better alternative. I don't think I'm ready for full on Gloomhaven and it sounds like JotL makes introducing the way game easier and can be played completely solo without any extra finagling. I think I'm slowly talking myself into JotL but anyone have any views on either, or any alternatives I've overlooked?
  8. I've had Alone against the Flames sitting here for a bit waiting for me to have some time to give it a run through. Seems a bit silly saying this when I haven't played the solo adventures that are available yet, but I really wish Chaosium would do more of them.
  9. Figures that The Batman Who LMAO is a Marilyn Manson fan.
  10. Not ashamed Massively ashamed to say it took me 6 months to get through the demo I was so shit scared. Still haven't put myself through playing the full thing Played tonnes of other stuff like this in the past and never been phased (even enjoyed the odd jump scare after the fact - I completed Outlast and that's panic inducing on times). But there's something about RE7 that just gets under my skin. I need to get a grip and play it though, as VIIIage looks brilliant.
  11. Spoilered as very sweary, but.... speaking of sound effects...
  12. Nice one @jonamok, ordered Looks like stock is starting to trickle back in in a few places too
  13. I've been bitten by the Arkham Horror bug. If anyone has any of the LCG stuff that they want to get rid for a sensible price please let me know. At the moment I'm after; - Circle Undone Deluxe - any of the Path to Carcosa Mythos packs - The Miskatonic Museum Mythos Pack - the standalone adventures Would rather buy off someone here than people trying to charge a 200% markup
  14. Looks like the Forbidden Planet outage is because they were the victims of a cyber attack
  15. Looks like it's just been a case of treating your customers poorly during a time of uncertainty and causing unnecessary panic. They do know that Twitter / Facebook doesn't run on their network?
  16. If they are still there it's a hell of a way to annoy your customer base.
  17. Noticed it was down the other day when looking for something, didn't realise it was a longer term thing. Reading the posts on Facebook/Twatter, in the current climate, I'd say that's not looking very good. Though someone pointed out that Titan Books is linked to them; their website is also down at the moment but they're still posting stuff on Twitter. edit: Companies House still shows they as Active, so may still be going.
  18. @jonamok I see what you mean... it's for sale for just £20 on Amazon.co.uk... in Spanish! (bit naughty as it's something you could miss if you weren't paying attention and blinded by an apparent bargain). My core box arrived today so looking forward to cracking that open later (won't have time to give it a run through till at least the weekend tho). Are there any recommended online places that sell the packs for the going rate when they're more readily available?
  19. Thanks @Hexx - I've chucked an order in for the Core box to see if it's for me before going crazy. If so I guess I'll have to resign myself to it being a slow burn on picking up the Mythos packs as I go as I'd like to play them in some sort of order (although I did read somewhere that you technically can play each one as a stand alone - not sure if that was true though as I got the impression they built off one another). A slow burn might not even be a problem when my spare time can be a bit limited. Really surprised that they didn't use the Return To sets for the older modules to bundle up all the Mythos packs with some new cards so they could charge a premium. Seems like it would have been easier for them than issuing random reprints on the older Mythos packs.
  20. Another BOGOF offer on Marvel on Comixology right now (code is MARVEL20) https://www.comixology.co.uk/Marvel-Buy-One-Get-One-Free-Sale/page/23828?ref=c2l0ZS9pbmRleC9kZXNrdG9wL3NtYWxsQ2Fyb3VzZWw
  21. Be interested everyone's view of Arkham Horror Card Game - I've been away from traditional tabletop gaming for over twenty years but I'm getting the sudden urge to start playing `something` again. Was always a fan of CoC but AH seems like something I could stumble my way through solo in the event that I can't get the other half to play through it with me. edit: sorry, should have been a bit more specific - outside of the Core box it looks like the expansions and Mythos packs are quite and investment. Just wondering what the availability of the packs is like outside of the Covid-19 situation? Some of the packs seem impossible to get or going for twice the price. Is this the norm?
  22. Bit slow getting in on the Grendel chat, but a lot of love here for the War Child arc. My first exposure to it as a pre-Teen was via a Dark Horse anthology mag from my local newsagents - typical for back then, it got cancelled before the story ended (same as Toxic which introduced me to loads of Pat Mills, Kevin O'Neil and Alan Grant stories that have stayed with me; Marshall Law, The Dinnerladies from Hell, Psychokiller, Detritus Rex, Accident Man etc). Anyway, asked my mum as she was going on a big shopping trip to Cardiff, to see if she could get a copy of the TPB from Forbidden Planet. Was gobmsacked when she actually came back with it (that almost never happened back in the day). Read it cover to cover countless times and still love it to this day - it's got the right blend of sci-fi and horror for me (no spoilers here if Flub's going to read it). Didn't even know it was part of a wider universe till many years later. Because I'd started with War Child, and it felt too perfect to my brain, the previous stories just didn't grip me as much when I tried to read them a few years back and I moved on to something else. I see that there's a new one, Grendel Odyssey released in the last few months - not sure how that's turned out but will have to see if I can pick up the trade at some point (as it looks to be simialr to War Child going by the art alone).
  23.
