  1. It just feels a bit inferior to the other versions now with everything that's been changed and added in each of them. Not saying it's a bad game but of the 3 GMT do it would be bottom of the pile for me.
  2. It's definitely a good intro to the GMT line of Commands and Colors games and if you enjoy Memoir I'm sure you would like this too. Ancients just feels a bit dated now and Napoleonics although superb is a lot heavier on the rules. It's a good time to get in on this one too if you are considering hoovering up the expansions as and when they arrive. I really like war games with rules that aren't too complicated as they free you up to concentrate on strategy rather than having to consider endless modifiers and obscure situational rules. This certainly delivers on that for me.
  3. Command & Colors Medieval. I know most of you lot prefer your combat games to have fancy pants painted minis but this is so good. It's been out a couple of weeks now and I think I've played 8 games of it already. The command and colors system has been used in other eras (Napoleonics, Ancients) and is also used in other games such as Memoir '44 and Battlelore. I love the feeling it gives of actually being the commander of an army in a battle. The new Medieval version plays more like Ancients than Napoleonics but theres enough differences for it to be it's own thing. Cavalry are deadly and the board is deeper than other versions to allow more scope for them to gallop around. Leaders have a lot of benefits including allowing adjacent units an additonal die face on which they hit. The biggest change though is probably the inspired leadership tokens which you can spend when you play certain cards to then choose what benefits you'll get for that turn. They can boost your archers attacks or give your Cavalry a juicy charge action amongst other options. The rules are nice and streamlined and after a couple of games you can easily play each scenario in under an hour. My one criticism would be the actual setting for the scenarios in the game. When I think of Medieval I think of Knights, Vikings, Saxons, Longbowmen. This game? Sassinids and Byzantines. I'm sure the inevitable expansions will get round to all of those but the setting feels more late ancient than medieval so far. I suspect they've started early in the period and will move forward with each expansion.
  4. I'd add 7 Wonders Duel to that list too if it's 2 player stuff you want that's neither too expensive or takes up too much space. One of my favourites. Also, the small box ticket to ride games (London and New York) both play really well with 2. Oh, and Res Arcana but that's sold out everywhere.
  5. How long has it taken you to get those sort of results with contrast paints?
  6. I could be wrong but I thought someone else has the netrunner license now? I think they were going to start from scratch with a new edition.
  7. Just realised I meant to say Sushi Roll not Sushi Dice. Don't get Sushi Dice. It's a steaming turd of a game. Sushi Roll on the other hand isn't.
  8. Lots of good family / non-gamer games have been mentioned already so I'll just add Cockroach Poker Skull Sushi Dice (when it becomes available again) ticket to ride New York / London (great smaller versions of ticket to ride) to your list of choices As for where to buy from: Thirsty Meeples Chaos Cards Zatu Boardgameguru Gameslore
  9. I've played both first and second edition (around 2-3 times for each) and in my opinion second is the better game. The streamlining and simplication aren't just for the sake of it and they improve the gameplay and play experience.
  10. I paid a similar amount for my board at the Uk games expo a few years ago and it fufills all my wood flicking needs! Hope you enjoy it
  11. I have a Crokinole board. It's fun in a having a laugh while playing a pub game sort of way. I wouldn't want to play it every week but it I defintiely enjoy it whenever I do play it.
  12. This is the best advice. I know attending a club where you don’t know anyone can seem daunting but worst case scenario is you’ve lost a few hours of an evening. Best case scenario: you’ll end up with a bunch of boardgaming friends. I’ve met a lot of really great people through going to a club who I game with 3-4 times a week. Have a look on the board game geek forums. Plenty of clubs post in there too.

    Xbox Game Pass

It sums the time you have left on game pass and gold and then adds a month, which is what the £1 gets you.
  14. Victorian Masterminds? Does it really say Death Turbines on that board? Did anyone play Star Wars Outer Rim? It looked a bit too much Talisman with a Stars Wars theme to me, but I didn't look that hard. FFG have turned into Asmodee's cash cow and their constant pushing of licensed games has put me off them. They've done some classics over the years but now it's all Star Wars and Lord of the Rings.
  15. The artwork and production values are amazing. It's also a wonderful engine building game. A fine purchase
  16. I'm impressed you managed to find your own games to bring home! The bring and buy was huge this year. I had one game that didn't sell but i was only asking £10 for it so I wasn't worried about just leaving it there.
  17. Apparently a few retailers had it on the Friday but all those copies went in a few hours. The same thing happened to Tiny Towns too. I couldnt find a copy of that by 15:00 on Friday. On a more positive note I made £350 on the bring and buy which more than covered the games I went home with. Result! Sadly it wasn't enough to cover all the food and booze too.
  18. If anyone is coming today you can also get tickets from the library room in the Hilton. Half my bring and buy sales have gone. Was very restrained yesterday and only picked up the new Keyforge starter set, Quartermaster General Cold War and Kanban. I honestly struggled to find games I wanted to buy. Ridiculous but true! I know too many people who buy all the games so try not to duplicate unless it’s something I really like.
  19. Yes, opens at 09:30. And yes it will be quieter than Saturday. It will still be busy mind but not quite the levels of chaos of the Saturday.
  20. Amazing work as always. I should of just asked you first!
  21. Are there any games being demoed that anyone is excited about? I haven't done much research to be honest. Apparently Imperial Settlers : Roll and Write will be there but I must admit I find most roll and writes a bit meh. I'm looking forward to seeing the outrageous prices people ask for their old tat in the bring and buy though. Mostly I'm looking forward to playing some games with my mates and consuming a few too many beers. Which is no different to any other weekend.....
  22. A card game where you can screw over your opponents and it has some drafting? Backed! I would say good luck but as it's already funded that seems a little surplus to requirements. So instead I hope the number of backers exceeds your expectations
  23. Quadropolis is a great city builidng game. I've played Yamatai and thought it was pretty average. Haven't played the over two. TLDR: Buy Quadropolis!
  24. Great! I'll be there all 3 days so we can sort out a time to get it to you closer to the expo
  25. RE: the SnapBack to 5 years earlier theory, pretty such that’s incorrect. In a scene right at the end ant man and wasp are sitting on the porch with his daughter and she’s still the 5 year older one rather than the younger one from the last ant man film.
