  1. I was in absolute bits by the end of that one. This show is just so great!
  2. It’s certainly true to 80’s Marvel What If comics, as they’d happily belt through a year long arc in 20 pages.
  3. It also didn’t really mention any of the ongoing story threads, so there’s no reason they couldn’t have held that episode back for Christmas? Weird. Lovely episode though. No idea why the critics were a bit snotty about S2, just as good as the first for me.
  4. I enjoyed it! Thought the fights were better than the ones in 90% of Marvel movies!
  5. It was definitely on terrestrial as I watched it and my dad would never let us have Sky. He wouldn’t even let us watch ITV ffs!
  6. It’s extraordinarily good. The importance of the documentary almost transcends the music, but the musical performances are incendiary. A must watch. Would pair well with Dave Chapelle’s Block Party I think (particularly given the Questlove connection).
  7. Mad God was mentioned quite a bit in the excellent Phill Tippett documatary included this recent Blu-ray set: Also has 13 hours of extra content! I have it and it’s great. https://screenanarchy.com/2021/07/now-on-blu-ray-the-monster-collection-for-those-who-remain-young.html
  8. I was in tears of happiness to see these characters back, this show is like pure uncut serotonin. We’re in for a cracking season if that’s as bad as it gets!
  9. I liked it! My mini review from films recently watched thread:
  10. Pig (2021) - Nic Cage has his prize truffle pig stolen and he must get it back at any cost… I thought this was going to be a straight forward revenge thriller, Ba-con Wick if you will, but this is actually something far more interesting. The third act swerve is genuinely interesting in the way that it subverts expectations and it’s just awesome to see Cage do something worthy of his talents for once. 4/5
  11. The Truffle Hunters - a series of vignettes in the lives of Italian truffle hunters. The threads are more about a dying art in general rather than a core story that pulls you through, but the scenes where they stuck a go pro on a truffle hunting dog are great. The cheeky last shot is lovely too.
  12. Also you can rewatch it as many times as you like, so its more like buying the UHD Bluray on opening day.
  13. I think one of the episodes is truncated version of Marvel Zombies, so certainly some of it is less MCU orientated.
  14. It’s like Starship Troopers if you took all the satire and jokes out.
  15. Couldn't they have just done the same thing Neighbours used to do and have him move to Brisbane?
  16. I thought it was a very pleasant kids film that was almost entirely created from the corpses of other kids films (Namely The Little Mermaid, Moana, Ponyo, Onward, and a dash of Cool Runnings). Could have done with a bit more humour too. Very pretty though. Deffo mid-tier Pixar.
  17. I thought it was a bit too similar to this:
  18. I enjoyed the special but prefer the album version as it’s like a 50 minute version of the special with all the staring into the camera removed. Pretty much the only thing you lose is a mildly amusing riff on pirate treasure maps.
  19. I’ve been making games or writing about games for 20 years now, and I think there are a lot of others in the industry on here. So maybe needs an option for people so invested that it’s also their day job?
  20. I generally watch at least one film a day and try to give them my complete attention - I watch a lot of foreign cinema, and needing to read subtitles really helps with avoiding second screen messing. I think it helps to have a really varied diet of films though, I’ll swap between old, new, high brow, low brow, documentaries, foreign and English language, and try not to watch crap just because it’s there (I’d always pick an unseen classic over something that is new but not well liked, like last week’s new Conjuring movie for example). So far this week for example I’ve watched Elektra Glide in Blue, Irma Vep, Barb and Star go to Vista Del Mar, Plan B, Shithouse and Lost in America.
  21. Yeah it’s quite bleak in places (although the overall tone is upbeat and fun), and occasionally horrible things are happening or implied, but there’s near zero on-screen blood or gore.
  22. Madness, the side stories are the best bits!
