I think so, yeah. It was a huge (for the time) area of blurry brown dunes, bumps, trenches. The camera would zoom out when you reached top speed (or was launched by the boundary) and it reminded me more of a flight sim. I think the other levels in the full game were much the same but with slightly different colours which was somewhat disappointing.

I forgot this little beauty; Like most people I spent far, far longer playing the demo than the actual game.

The first Aliens Vs Predator game had three demos, one for each species, and I played them all a hundred times. The marine one in particular was terrifying and absolute nails. A couple of swipes from a single alien, plus a spray of acid would kill you in two seconds flat, you really needed lightning reflexes. The aliens would always spawn in the same place, but were able to move throughout the entire level, providing their AI pathfinding didn't get them stuck behind some pipes or under some stairs. There was a constant sound of distant alien shrieking and the opening/closing of doors and nowhere felt safe.

Sorry for the late response. I could be wrong anyway, it's been a while since I played it. What I do know is,

I don't remember pulling any fancy tactics during the EMMI sections. I don't remember cloaking much in the game at all, other than to get through the sensor doors. I just learnt the escape route, dying a bunch of times, but then eventually I'd nail it simply by running as fast as I could. I'm not a fan of these sections, but there's something like 5 in total and all very short? If it's not doing it for you then fair, but not worth throwing in the towel over, imo. I really enjoyed it, even the final boss.
