  1. Wow! So much happened there. Well done @SharkyOB. @davejmI think you should have restarted, I think the whole "hit drive" system is unfair, there must be a better way to design that. The Lexus felt horrible to drive here, first track I really didn't like it, sometimes it's not perfect, but always satisfying. Here it was terrible, which is so disappointing as I absolutely love Oulton. After qualifying 4th, I was actually quite happy for the rain! The car at least felt more fun to drive. Then I spun after contact with @milko, re joined at the back of the field and then going through the field to finish 2nd, wow, that was by far the most exciting race I've done online. @Valvercan you see if the replay shows my double overtake on @extremepabsand @Count Buffalos at the hairpin after their contact? That was INTENSE. Had a whole heap of luck there, was absolutely sh*tting myself as I couldn't have stopped the car in time and almost created a huge pile up. Buzzing!
  2. anyone else not able to log into Steam? Internet working, Discord fine, steam says "could not connect" Edit: after 5 minutes of error messages it let me in, scary!
  3. Looking forward to tonight. So we saying quali around 20:45? Is practice starting later as well?
  4. Yup that's super pace from @davejm! Not an excuse, I love Oulton, but the Lexus doesn't, way too stiff and not good at absorbing bumps, will be intense for a full hour. I'm with you when it comes to familiarising yourself with a new track, I don't think track guides are very effective, and it's more fun and faster to just go out there and drive, but when it comes to finessing your lines and all the micro details, I can say I learn a lot every week by using a guide. It's so easy to think you're at your limit or the car's limit (or condition yourself to keep repeating the same mistakes) and a guide will often show you that a small change will make a big difference. Another thing they are great at showing is not just "where to break" but "how strongly and how long for" which is maybe the main thing that makes aliens aliens? Anything I can do to change your mind about track guides @Meers?
  5. Nice stills there Dave! Ha! First time up there, have to say it's a lovely feeling but it's only a DNF away from dropping down the order, worried I might miss a race because of work! Gonna try and get some practise on in half an hourish
  6. Thanks for the races guys, miss chatting to ye, but enjoyed listening to Discord afterwards Had to work hard for those, like many of you, the setup didn't feel amazing, though it's probably one of the hardest tracks we've done so far. 2nd race - @davejm I think you and I were overly cautious at the start, I resigned to losing the position in the first corner as you had the better line, then I put the foot down thinking you had gone for it only to almost run into you, twitching the car and creating the concertina @Count Buffalos chatted about. No one at fault, better to be chilled at the starts anyways! Hope no one got caught in that? Finished with 1L left in the tank which meant my last laps were heart in the mouth vibes. Also Dave, when you had your oversteer snap, I took the opportunity to try and take the position, but as you wrestled the car I had to take evasive action probably completing the overtake off track. Without seeing the incident it was really hard to say what was the right thing to do so I gave the position back just in case, maybe the replay shines a light on it. Either way, interesting to see what the rule book says about that, wanna find similar situations in racing, just out of curiosity. I suppose the position would have been mine if I had the nose well in alongside before going offtrack but I don't remember. I have some bluetooth headphones that might work, I'll try it during the week!
  7. Was busy at work today but I'll happily join the next "trackday event". I'm a better driver because of the level in this league, genuinely believe we all have to gain by helping each other out!
  8. Oh Woooow that's amazing haha happy birthday man! Well done on your pole @davejm, I really thought I was safe! Really intense few laps there at the beginning, after I passed Dave I kept making small mistakes with @SharkyOB right behind, had to push myself to go faster to build a gap and luckily everything clicked into place and got in the zone, was totally exhausted after the race! Loving to be back in my setup.
  9. There's a chance I might be working tomorrow eve Not a great start to the season. That's what you get for being a freelance musician and videographer, the 2 most unstable professions in the universe when it comes to hours (and finances too). If I race, I'm mic-less atm, left mine with father and haven't had a chance to sort anything else yet, but I'll log on to Discord and I'll be able to hear you all!
  10. I've finished my quarantine but the flat I'm staying in is so amazing I've decided to stay a bit longer treating it like a retreat. I'll be there next week for sure!
  11. Yeah would have been, hopefully they fixed it. I hope they adjusted the McLaren too, my experience of it in season 2 was disappointing, specially comparing it to the Lexus. The Mc feels stable at first, but is edgy when driven at the limit and has longer braking distances. Recently saw a video of an alien saying the same things and explaining it needs to be driven differently than other cars, but even he was struggling a little, again that was before new BOP. The Lexus lets me drive the way I want, much happier. I really fancy the Ferrari though, the new 488 felt incredible to drive when I tried it in my main setup last year, very alive and real.
  12. Yeah what happened to me was really unlucky, but at the same time it was a gear related issue, I understand if people don't want to restart as it can be a downer. Although I missed the start to our Brands Hatch GT4 race when ACC disconnected from the server even though I could still hear you on Discord, I think that was even more frustrating, not sure what happened there. If we decide to restart for technical reasons we should test it off season first, just to make sure it doesn't scrap the qualifying order, wouldn't be worth it in that case. Hey @milko I seem to remember reading the NSX is OP at Kyalami (and maybe Suzuka?) but really slow everywhere else, so definitely try it in a few tracks first! This would have been before the 2020 BOP so maybe they balanced the car a bit better now.
  13. If only there was someone in this league who lived in Liverpool and knew how to unplug all my gear and drop it over Totally joking haha would be such a hassle all round and it's better I concentrate on working, studying and maybe a bit of meditation, wanna get into a nice routine and gaming would get in the way Looking forward to joining you again soon though, should be there for start of season 4
  14. On the way back to the UK now but will self isolate alone in a different flat, which is a shame as I was quite excited to go head first into quarantine racing and sorting my setup Empty airports and flights and everyone is tested, so feels safer than going to the shop so far... See you guys in a couple of weeks.
  15. Congratulations @SharkyOB! Thanks so much @davejm! Cheers everyone for the racing, I'll try not to miss any next season x
  16. Guys as much as I hate to say this I don't think I should be racing tonight - love Kyalami and there's a very small mathematical chance of fighting for the championship but I just did my customary pre racing warm-up exercises (guitar scales, modes and arpeggios ) and my head is throbbing and struggling to keep my eyes open. It's absolutely boiling in here as well and the last thing I want is to ruin someone's race if I make a mistake. Very sorry I was really excited about this. It's gonna be an amazing race, hope you all have a great time! Can't wait for the British DLC, Oulton Park is my favourite track ever.
  17. Guys I got headache, slept really badly and the room the computer is in is at around 28C. I'm gonna join but may leave if I feel unwell, sorry.
  18. 1:42:3xx, that's it for me. It was tough with the track not being rubbered in like it would be in quali. Could probs have done a 1:42 flat if I nailed a perfect lap, but didn't have the confidence. See you guys on thursday!
  19. Thanks for letting us know, I won't able to use the computer Tuesday - Wednesday so I'll try and set a time tomorrow!
  20. This schedule looks mega! Are you thinking of doing any off season races before the start of season 4? As it stands I'm gonna be quarantining in the UK away from home between the 7th and 17th, so unable to do any races then, would love not to miss the start! But don't plan around me as it's all subject to change.
  21. Yes that would help me thanks, but I can't confirm until the day, so don't change your plans for me, whatever's best to all! Don't mind if you guys decide to do a full 2 hours, deffo wanna try that at one point @willmill not sure if you saw my comment, but if you have a thrustmaster wheel, it's quite possible this plastic pivot bit is broken causing you to miss shifts. I put a little bit of superglue on the crack and then loads on top of it after it glued and it held out fine.
