  1. I can't make my mind up if the thumbnail is Robo-Custer's Revenge or Roshambo the game (the South Park version of Roshambo).
  2. Started Samurai-Force Shing on the Switch. Initial reaction is not overly positive, I’ll try playing some more tomorrow but this could find itself on the somewhat giant pile of abandoned games I have. It’s essentially a hack and slash, a genre I love, but so far feels wholly unsatisfying. Maybe it’ll get better.
  3. I love the Hori Fight Stick SS, the value for money on them (if buying from Japan) is incredible. Sure it’s not quite a HRAP, but it’s more than capable of doing the job.
  4. To be fair, 21 years ago you did do well to get £20 each for them. They’re really good sticks though, I use mine all the time. I bought a box of about 20 new but unboxed PS1 GunCon’s for £40 about 12 years ago and couldn’t shift them for £7 each posted
  5. Just to say I’ve had my fair share of sticks from Japan as well. I got 3 Hori Fight Stick PS’ for 2000 yen (one complete in box). Also got a Fight Stick SS for 1000 yen and a boxed Fight Stick VF for 500 yen. I may or may not have about a dozen Super Famicom’s, most of which I bought with a bundle of carts for between 1 and 3000 yen
  6. I’m still in for this even if some of the reviews have been less than stellar. As long as it’s not broken like Colonial Marines I’ll have fun with it.

I’m not sure what’s on there, but if Twinkle Star Sprites is it’s absolutely brilliant. Pulstar and Blazing Star are both decent as are Sonic Wings/Aero Fighters 2 and 3. Swerve Alpha Mission 2 and Andro Dunos. Ghost Pilots has some fans but I think it’s a bit shit. Last resort is alright, probably wouldn’t buy it. Never played Zed Blade or Prehistoric Isle 2, but Prehistoric Isle 1 (not Neo Geo) is pretty average. Edit: Forgot Viewpoint, if you have masochistic tendencies try it, but avoid if you don’t like games that are really really difficult or don’t like Zaxxon.

I’m up to 226m but didn’t get the clear that time, died on the stage 5 boss. Still got some way to catch @Marlew, some score that! Thanks @ImmaculateClump, I’ll go back to Shikhondo later. For now though I think I’m going to try and press more points out of Deathtiny. I’ve not enjoyed point pressing on a game so much since Dai Fukkatsu.

I managed to put about 60m on my Deathtiny score. All clear, but haven't broken that 200m point barrier yet. Highest was 196m. Tried Shikhondo for the first time as well today after owning it for years. Wasn't all that impressed, anyone else played it? Does it get better as you get deeper in?

I’ve just had to read up on the scoring in Deathtiny because I was always finishing on 125-140m points. I’ll give the level 2 hypers a go tomorrow.

Bloody hell there's some great shmups coming in the next few months

I do the same thing. Did it on Garegga in fact yesterday. Never played premium mode, got to the stage 7 bosses' 2nd form first time. Not seen it since in another 4 goes.

Not sure if this has been posted, but it had passed me by. Illmatic Envelope + Radirgy Swag double pack is available to pre-order on Play-Asia. If you order before the end of July you also get free shipping.

Cool, thanks for that. Once I get the clear I’ll work on building a score. If I start now I’ll never get a 1CC because I always try to max my score even when it’s not beneficial

Ah that would make sense. I'll test the theory next time I play. I can't do any more today, I'm at the point where I'm getting worse with each go because I'm getting lazy.

Yeah Sonay, so I don't even shoot much, just hold down the bloody Summon button. How does the score multiplier work? It seems like it proximity based, but then you'll get a x5 for a baddie right in your face then x8 for one a little further away.

I've been playing Sisters Royale today, although it's not technically that great I am addicted to trying to get the 1CC. It seems so easy, but not allowing you to build up your lifestock really does stop you from just forcing your way through it. I might try and have another blast later, if not I'm sure I'll get the 1CC this week.
  18. There's definitely some rarity's out there on PS2. I think at some point it was thought (maybe still is) that Ocean Commander on PS2 was only available at a chain of petrol stations in Italy for about €10.

That’s a great point, I paid so little attention to the music

Pretty sure I fought him at the end of my Deathtiny run, the patterns certainly look familiar. Will have to have another blast and check.
  22. Ah that’s good. They need to fix it really, something like this can sour the entire homebrew scene for a console. I’m sure there were Mega Drive homebrews that suffered with the whole Paprium saga. I know I stopped backing homebrews when it became clear something was seriously up with Paprium.
  23. Surely the publisher in this has to take on some of the responsibility? That’s a shame you can’t even finish the game.

Oh yeah, it’s a hell of a release, it’s made a game that’s pretty unapproachable into something anyone can enjoy. Those guys at M2 know what the people want! I use ship A, always have for Ketsui, try them both though and see what works for you. I find speed confers no advantage in it, I actually prefer smaller more deliberate movements.

I only played Deathtiny mode for the first time last week, but I found it quite easy (1CC on second attempt) with all the extra lives and auto bombing that are on by default. You need to play it aggressively (I just played it like Ketsui arcade which I play aggressively for the points) but found if you’re all up in the face of the enemies you get loads of blue cubes which refill your Deathtroy meter which I treated like a lifebar. It does get really heavy in the last two stages and I found myself just forcing through with my built up lifestock and using a lot of bombs. I’d stick at it, I thought it was a really good mode, far more forgiving than the arcade game!
