  1. I'd go along with a lot of this. I suppose it's one of those be careful for what you wish for jobs now that the hyperactive playground football of gegenpressing is in fashion. For all the Barcelona/Spain passing carousel could become trancelike, at least its foundations were founded on footballing technique as opposed to hard running. The middle-ground is my preferred. United '08, and to a lesser extent '99. Bayern in the season before Guardiola came in. Those great Swiss army knife sides that had a tool for every job. Spain's great tournament run was just too good at its plan A, a
  2. I don't know about that. There was that tournament where they didn't take the handbrake off until the final, which I think was the time Wenger (of all people) coined his 'sterile domination' bit, but the side of Busquets, Xavi, Iniesta, Villa, Pedro and so on was never dull. They were just several levels beyond, and any dullness came from the lack of any competition. Hardly their fault. Now this lot are deathly dull. To play how they do AND not get results...well there's no excuse.
  3. The administration of the UFC which makes the fights that need to be made.
  4. That goal would have been ruled out in the Premier League, no doubt.
  5. I wouldn't put it past Portugal to get something against France. They must be gutted mind - all those years they had loads of width and were stuck with Pauleta up top, and now they can't/daren't have someone on the touchline when they've got quality in the middle.
  6. OK, but by that metric there's someone who has scored more, created more, played up (a little) less. I view Ronaldo as the Greatest, because his sheer will has made an argument out of a fifteen year period over which he's been more often than not outshone by one better player. To have that degree of commitment is truly great.
  7. Andre Silvá must be fuming having to wait 82 minutes to get on here. Him and Sancho are mysteries stuck on their benches.
  8. I'd be interested in your argument for that.
  9. Smart half-time sub. Could be a cracker, this.
  10. It was. Didn't stop that being the general consensus afterwards mind. You would've thought France had stuck six past them.
  11. This is the same Germany most lads were saying had nothing after the France game....
  12. This Germany side is so close to clicking into gear. Such a shame Goretzka isn't fully fit.
  13. I'm more than happy with just boxing. It's just a shame its administration isn't more like UFC. I did like TFC though. It needed some tweaking because once one team got ahead that was generally that. There's definitely room for a team-based combat sport.
  14. Bare Knuckle. It's generally well-officiated but murder on the skin. I doubt it'll really catch on as a spectator combat sport but who knows? I thought TFC had a shot, but it crashed and burned.
  15. His head has never been right since injury. Bad case of the Sahas. Shame as he can be brilliant.
  16. God why doesn't Pogba play like this for United, etc, &c....
  17. Given that he's picked three injured players in the squad, and is looking to rely on two of them, I wonder if Southgate could end up out of a job soon. Daft if it comes to that, given all he had to choose from.
  18. Let us know the date to tune in.
  19. He's no use on the left that's for sure.
  20. I wonder if Southgate would have backed his options on the right had tonight's other group match not finished all square? Cagey match. Mount and Shaw were decent for England.
  21. If he's dull, I'll take a dozen. Lovely player.
  22. For whatever reason England are lopsided but down the wrong side. Can switch Foden over to the left if Grealish isn't fit for 45, but Sancho on the right is a no brainer. Quite like how Scotland have approached this. Clarke has always had a bit about him.
