First time seeing her in anything for me and yes, she's really something. Very watchable, genuinely funny and you look forward to her screentime. Ended up watching Natasha's other series, Russian Doll, which is equally as excellent as Poker Face.

Poker Face works because it's unpretentious and fun, but doesn't feel lightweight or throwaway - the dialogue is excellent and full of details that you'll only really notice after a couple of watches, Natasha/Charlie talks fast in that NYC way so there are bits you'd miss. Subtitles are a good idea.

Watched some interviews with Natasha and she's like that in real life too - very rock n' roll past and I think you're seeing a lot of her in her characters.

Poker Face/Russian Doll/Yellowjackets are the best things on streaming right now.

I first saw her in Orange is the New Black, she was the best character by far, it's worth a watch but it is a big ensemble show and it's not to everyones taste.

  2. Finished this last night. I fucking loved it. It's like Quentin Tarantino does Columbo with Natasha Lyonne, it's fantatastic. I think it's more enjoyable if you space the episodes out rather than binging them all at once. It's a real love letter to Columbo for sure, the per week special guests, the cinematic style, the planned murders and the unintentional consequences. As a huge Columbo fan this was a delight. I can't imagine not liking Natasha Lyonne too, how is that possible? Best new show for some time for me I love that this has been made.

  3. Oh man that last episode hit way harder than all the others, they pulled it off. Yes I wish it had been longer they could have easily split the first game over 2 series but tightening up to what we got will stand the test of time I think, it's concise but still hits all the major points of the game and it does it well. Bravo.

  4. Rainbow six Vegas. I can't be the only person here who played this solidly until the release of the full game. It was just the casino level but that was enough for what was an amazing shooter. Also Battlefield 4, I'd played BF3 but wasn't a huge fan so when I played the demo of 4 I was amazed as it was truly a step up and this was on the 360 too, it sold me a PS4 at launch as I remember watching a Jack Frags video of PS4 footage and thinking how bloody amazing it looked, haven't owned an Xbox since....

I could accept making you complete half the game again if you didn’t end up in the DLC underlevelled because you were in NG+. I never got past the bastard hunter with a big hammer on the Bloodborne one, that’s right at the beginning!

    oh go on then

    Git Gud!

    ...sorry

  6. So my disc seems to make the drive in my ps5 spin really loudly, no other games do that, so I downloaded the digital version from ps+ and it doesn't recognise my save, is there any way to get this working does anyone know?

Spot on. Every time I'm really unwell I watch this. Don't know why. Anyway, it's brilliant. If it doesn't go dark enough then check out Tyrannosaur if you haven't seen it already.

I have seen Tyrannosaur, only once though so I should rewatch though I remember not loving it. One of the things I love about Nil by Mouth is how it's all shot on location with life like characters, I love films shot on location and grimy city locations especially so. I might have to watch Hyena for the third time this Friday, just can't get enough of dark gritty Brit films at the moment. I feel like as the film industry is dying we just won't get films like these any longer.

Going back to Nil by Mouth even though it is devastatingly dark it also has a lot of love in it, the mum, Gary's sister and Mo in East Enders is such a lovely but flawed character, then you've got Kathy Burke who just knocks it out of the park in an understated performance, actually everyone involved knocks it out of the park it's so fucking good.

  8. PS5. I'm happy with it, it's a decent console though the controller sticks wear out way too fast and the shape is annoying when trying to clean it and the area around it. My issue is more the industry as a whole, there just aren't enough new games, specifically AAA games providing new and exciting experiences, no innovation and they keep making things cross gen. The 2 big Sony exclusives last year, Horizon and GoW are just larger scale versions of the original games, there's nothing innovative about them whatsoever. Once again From Software are pretty much the only reason I still get excited about games anymore and my hobby is reduced to an addiction to Hunt Showdown. Will there be a mid gen hardware boost? No, what's the point when they aren't making new games specifically for the hardware?

  9. So this was posted on reddit, wow, just wow!

    https://thestreamable.com/news/confirmed-netflix-unveils-first-details-of-new-anti-password-sharing-measures#can-you-still-share-netflix-with-someone-who-doesnt-live-with-you

If you don't want to follow the link here is the detail:

    Spoiler

Who Can Use a Netflix Account Now?

Netflix accounts are still shareable, but only within one household. To ensure that your devices are associated with your primary location, Netflix is now asking users to connect to the Wi-Fi at your primary location, open the Netflix app or website, and watch something at least once every 31 days.

Can You Still Share Netflix With Someone Who Doesn’t Live With You?

No, accounts are only meant to be used within one household. Netflix will prompt users who try to sign into your account elsewhere to sign up for their own account instead and block their access until they do.

Netflix will NOT begin automatically charging account holders whose information is used outside of their homes.

Can Other Users on Your Netflix Account Save Their Profiles?

Yes, Netflix offers users a profile transfer feature that will allow them to migrate their show recommendations, watch history, and more to their own account if they decide to create one. This will give password sharers the opportunity to preserve their profile if they sign up for their own Netflix accounts.

Can You Still Use Netflix While Traveling?

Signing into Netflix outside of your home may lead to the device in use being blocked from Netflix. This could prevent you from signing into new devices while traveling, but Netflix has devised a workaround.

Traveling users who want to use Netflix on a hotel smart TV, company laptop, etc. can request a temporary code from the service when signing in. This will give them access to their account for seven consecutive days.

How Can You Prevent Netflix from Blocking Your Devices?

Signing into home Wi-Fi at least once every 31 days on your devices will make them “trusted devices,” which Netflix will remember and leave unblocked.

If your device has been blocked incorrectly, you’ll need to contact Netflix in order to get it unblocked.

How Will Netflix Know if You’re Not in Your Home/Primary Location?

Netflix uses information such as IP addresses, device IDs, and account activity to determine whether a device signed into your account is connected at your primary location.

If your device is being used outside your home by someone you haven’t authorized, you can sign into your account and sign out on all other devices, then change your password.

I worked it out. It is because I used the 'Hide this Season' at some point, as it was quicker that fast forwarding to the last episode of a season (I decided to put it on hold ages ago). It still appears in search, but there's no unhide button there - you have to go into your Settings.

Does you s1e09 have English subtitles? All of them to this point did, and now this one does not but 32 other languages.

No it doesn't it has 32 other languages. Do you need subs then? I found any non english parts had hard subs anyway.

Oh no, don't say that. I only have one episode left of S1.

Well I'll be interested to see what you think. For me the vibe completely changes and everything that made the show so touching, intelligent and unique appears lost. Not everyone feels like that so perhaps it's just me.

Had this on the list for a while and was worried it wouldn't live up to the hype of a few posters in various threads here. It is properly darkly funny. Such a shame Amazon seem to barely do anything to promote a lot of their own shows, even within their own app. It won't even include this in my Continue Watching at all, and I have to search for it every time (despite no other show having that issue).

Hmm that's weird I finished a rewatch recently and it shows in my continue watching. S1 really is the most perfect series of television, the vibe, the music, the heart, the bleak comedy, it's my favourite series of TV up there with the Wire S1. Shame that a lot of what I loved about S1 was dropped for S2, it's got a completely different vibe and lacks the emotional depth present in S1.

  13. Well that got pretty far out at the end, I loved episodes 1-5 but felt a little let down by 6. I felt like he did as much as he could with the budget, it definitely felt way more stripped down compared to TOTDY. Will gladly watch again, the score, the cinematography and lighting and the mise en scene just brilliant. Very atmospheric, very Lynchian overall.
