I just hit 240. Is that realistically high enough to not be a liability on the Nightfall?
Should be ok, i done it with two friends that were just below 240 (i was 278 at the time mind you) and we finished with 3 mins to spare.

Main thing to beware of is that on a PS4 Pro - unlike the OG PS4 - if you install Destiny or Destiny 2, completing the opening mission will cause graphical glitches that end up frying the GPU unless the machine detects you are maining a
HunterTitan.FTFY
I don't regret buying it as such but I honestly don't notice any difference from my standard PS4 (I still have my old PS4 and have compared them side by side).
The 1080p video capture and menu speed is the main benefits for me.

Was just coming in to ask that question @Gorf King wasn't sure if there was clarity on the matter, i'm buying digitally but was still wondering.

I have heard rumors that they will be slightly upgraded. Online highscore tables, online multiplayer (or LAN multiplayer). Hence, why they will not be called Virtual Console games.
AFAIK only NES games will be available when the service goes live. I'd imagine SNES stuff will come 2019.
Forgot they were going to be updated, makes sense now thanks.

I wouldn't hold your breath Scott. Even Wii launched with Virtual Console from the off. The situation on Switch is frustrating to say the least.
What confuses me is the new online service for the Switch that will be launched next year? I was under the impression you get "classic" games as a freebie, wouldn't these be considered Virtual Console games? Confused to say the least.

Hang on, isn't Mario Odyssey out on the 27th, like 3 days before? I guess it's all about getting SNES owners interested again and cross-marketing
Think Mario Odyssey is October.

Game upped their in store deposit to £50.
Why would anyone ever use their shops when they could just use their website?
Website is OOS but the stores have stock allocations so I went in and preordered. That's a great thing about doing it in store they can tell you if they have enough for you to be guaranteed to get it. Online as some people have already witnessed you can get your order cancelled.

Does anyone own the Xbox One Elite controller? I have it for my PC but it didn't come with a Play & Charge kit (battery pack). Can anyone point me in the right direction as to which one I need? Is it just the 'default' one?
@Illyria has a battery pack for her Elite controller but I feel like it looks different compared to the standard one?
Standard one is fine, I use it in mine.

It's probably not the only, one, factor. But it's obviously a key one, isn't it? There's precious little content, the PvP isn't consistent enough in lag terms to be a truly pro competitive arena, and there's only so many times even the most dedicated people can run the raids before they've gotten everything and are bored.
I'd say the feel of the shooting and movement and combat is exactly what's kept it popular. Other purer shooters, and even other Destiny-likes haven't had the massmarket legs Destiny has shown for 3 years.
Of course it is a key factor but it's one of many, to say there is precious little content is also misguided, please show me another console game that offers the level of content Destiny has at current? Of course the people who have played it all a lot won't want to be constantly replaying it, that can be said about any game surely? Why does the PvP need to be a pro competitive arena to keep people interested in playing? PvP in Destiny is huge amounts of fun, modes like Trials of Osiris have kept me playing it for years.
There is also side effects of the game that has influenced people to play with strangers and create new friendships, this is the first game that done that for me, never before have I made friends from playing a video game. It wasn't because of the shooting feeling great that caused that, it was because of the content of the game, namely raids.

Destiny wouldn't be much without the feel of its shooting and Bioware don't have that pedigree.
We all know Destiny has had its ups and its downs but this is such a misguided statement. The shooting is definitely a strong point of the game but do you really think the game has been a massive success and millions of people are still playing destiny based on one factor?
On 6/12/2017 at 14:16, Wroth said:When they announced a new Bioware game I immediately thought two things.
"I hope they've taken lessons from Witcher 3"
and
"I hope they haven't taken lessons from Destiny"
They could only do well if they have taken lessons from Destiny, learn from it's mistakes and successes considering it is possibly the most successful new franchise in gaming of recent years.
Maybe this genre isn't what suits you since you want it to have taken lessons from an entirely single player game?

Why would you do that? You seem pretty cool to me, Barry. You're definitely the kind of person who should be getting one. I'll see you on November 7th, yeah?
I would imagine you will

It was a bit of a joke post to be honest, but I've tried to answer your points above!
Look, i'm going to get straight to the point, i'm here to talk myself out of buying an Xbox One X and you're not helping.

— Some great looking first party stuff on its way - Ori, Sea of Thieves, Forza, etc.
This is actually the stumbling block for me, the first party stuff just does not appeal minus State of Decay 2, Ori and Playerunknown Battlegrounds, all of which i'll be able to play on my current Xbox One.
13 hours ago, JPL said:— All the best multi-platform games (except for the pointless bits Sony have money-hatted, but they'll be in lower res anyway)
Don't you mean the same multi-platform games? And what if you have more friends on the other platform because that's where most migrated to after the 360? Do you abandon them for shinies and play alone?
Quote— The best controller. Even better if you've got an Elite.
This is where I have to disagree entirely (and I own an Elite). Don't get me wrong, it's a nice controller and the Elite is the most well made and super premium controller i've ever got my hands on. But I totally prefer the Dual Shock 4 and it's for one reason only, the tension on the analogue sticks, I cannot for the life of me get on with how slack the Xbox One pad sticks feel, I feel such a disconnect when playing because of it and having played Destiny on PS4 and XB1 my personal performance while playing PvP is dramatically different, maybe i'm in the minority on this one.

Yeah, I must admit the whinging about the price seems a bit farcical to me. This is a forum where members regularly piss hundreds of pounds up the wall on tat like collectors editions, Transformers figures and every single iterative iPhone upgrade, but suddenly £450 is too much money?
I think what you need to realise while most might have enough disposable income to afford such luxury, cost vs value comes into the argument.
Do you already have a PS4 Pro/Powerful PC?
Are you happy with the Xbox One's current performance?
Is there enough first party exclusive games to inspire interest?
Are you interested in VR?
Where is the majority of your friends playing?
Depending on these answers is where you might find the value in purchasing an Xbox One X.
QuoteFor something that's twice as powerful as the nearest competitor
It's just shy of 1/3 more powerful than the PS4 Pro.
QuoteI know cost is relative to everyone, but considering the audience and what it actually offers it feels like a perfectly sane price to me. It seems unfeasible that it could have cost any less.
My issue is Microsoft needed the games for me to part with my cash or offer it at a competitive price with a PS4 Pro. I fully understand the Xbox One X will cost more to produce and therefore has a higher cost price but you have to realise you can grab a PS4 pro for around £300 these days, does 1/3 more powerful justify 1/3 more cost?

It feels like the optimum arrangement going forward would be Xbox for third party stuff and Playstation for first party stuff, which is the opposite of how I presume most dual-owners bought their games until six months ago.
Definitely not for me, most people I know went from 360 - PS4, therefore to play multiplat games on Xbox One I can't join my friends. PS4 is still going to be the place for third party games whilst it has the largest user base. Not to mention if you are meaning Xbox One X is optimal because it's a powerhouse, it's a powerhouse with a £450 price tag.
Also why until 6 months ago?

i remember reading there was going to be a trade in deal from microsoft for xbox one owners has that been mentioned ?
either way im buying im sad enough i buy every console at launch regardless
This is me, I am this person, trying to talk my way out of this one though as I can't see a reason to upgrade from my current XB1.
I don't have a 4k TV being the biggest reason.

Digital out on both official cables. RGB scart and component.
OSSC scaler does a superb job hooking up OG Xbox with HDMI.
Surprised at this. Mines always looks like crap and very cloudy/muddy through component, take a Dreamcast and run it with VGA and it looks clear as day.

OG Xbox didn't have a digital out am I right? I have one and have component cables but looks like crap. I'm excited to see these games through proper HDMI on my TV.

I've been playing some Trials Fusion on the PS4 today. Ubisoft really should make a Trials game for Switch.
Wouldn't work though in it's current form though as it is one game that 100% requires analogue triggers.
Be the perfect game for it though if the console had them.

It plays Xbox one games at 4k. How is this "new Xbox" theory still being touted? Every video and article says it. Microsoft said it. Its purpose is the same as the PS4Pro it's just that it'll do a better job.
It's not the fact it will do a better job it will actually do something. Before the PS4 Pro Boost mode it literally done nothing to my games library unless the game was Pro patched.
I bought it thinking there will be 1080p enhancements to most games as this is the market they should be targetting since not everyone has 4k tv's. At least we know with the scorpio it will.
Still not sure if I will buy but it's definitely positioned well for every new user not just 4K tv owners.

I don't think the eververse stuff decrypts with a proper power level. Think it's 10.
