  1. The Life Aquatic With Steve Zissou. Extremely Wes Anderson - whimsical, silly fun. 4/5.

Joshua - Was in Disney+ in the horror section, but it’s more psychological drama. Only watched it because I like both Sam Rockwell and Vera Farmiga. Sadly, it was extremely dull and obvious. I think it was aiming to gradually build tension until you reached the denouement, but said tension was non-existent. 1/5.

I actually found the Xbox UI more difficult than that of the PS5. PS5 feels a bit more minimal. Is it because you were used to the Xbox one? I must admit when I first got my PS5 had to work out how to do things but now I'm used to it I like it. Nice big covers for each game - with music etc for each if its been designed for PS5. Also separates the media and games things out nicely. By comparison the Xbox interface felt a bit cluttered with things I didn't really want to see/care about (always felt this way about the Xbox One UI since it was released).

Also my PS5 is not noisy at all in operation I sit practically next it and hardly ever hear it when I'm playing - only time it makes a noise is when I have a disk in and I guess this is to be expected (my Series X used to make a noise too the odd time I put a disk in). From my experience both consoles were equally as quiet... although going from memory as I don't have both next to me to compare so perhaps I could be wrong on that.

Interesting how perceptions are different.. both consoles Series X and PS5 just felt like lumps of plastic to be fair - PS5 you can remove the sides from to clean it out and install an internal data expansion drive so guess in terms of it feeling less solid maybe that is why but personally think both are equally as well made. Sure the PS5 is a bigger lump of plastic.. :D Although I did prefer the Series X form over PS5's form factor but generally like square, black uniform boxes that I can tuck away.

No, I was very much in the PS4 camp last gen, so very comfortable with the PS4 UI.

  3. I bought a Series X back in February. It’s a lovely, lovely thing. Absolutely silent, lots of games to play, although not much by way of exclusives.

Bought a PS5 about three weeks ago which I have now sold. Really disliked it. Noisy, cheaply built piece of plastic with an awful UI. I do not get the fuss over the haptic feedback. Novelty wore off after about an hour of Astrobot. Right now it’s definitely not for me.

  4. Very recently I bought a PS5 and thank you to @Jonny5 for the Curry’s Code to enable me to do so.

However, after a few weeks of ownership, I hate it. It’s noisy, cheap, plasticky and the UI is a mess. Ratchet & Clank is gorgeous, but dull and insipid. I genuinely do not get the Astrobot fuss. It’s fine, but nothing more.

It’s back in it’s box and I’ve sold it to a friend, at cost.

This console is a huge disappointment. Still, when there’s more games worth playing and an updated machine, I’m sure I’ll be back.

For Forza Horizon 6 I think they should do an Alan Partridge driving game. A nice selection of mid-range saloon and estate cars like the classic Rover Vitesse Fastback, with walnut interiors and ABS as standard, you can equip your driver with suede driving gloves, pringle sweaters and petrol station sunglasses, then cruise around East Anglia to the sounds of Supertramp, Mike Oldfield and, if you're feeling really rockin', Status Quo. Back of the net. Target audience acquired.

Don’t forget the theme from Black Beauty.

  6. I appear to have done something daft, but I'm not quite sure why it happened. I went to my car collection and decided to drive the McLaren Senna gift car. I was taken to the auto show to buy the car, which I did, although I was slightly perplexed why I had to. I now have two identical cars in my collection. What did I do wrong?

CON: The profanity filter wouldn't allow me to set my plate to "COW POOH", apparently there was a blocked word.

PRO: Just about everything else. I can live with moronic story stuff, because while it's annoying it isn't even in the same league as the Rider's Republic crap was. It's not even as horrific as Test Drive Unlimited was way back when. It is quite sad that AAA developers only make games for teenage boys these days, but when it's just wrapping around such delicious gameplay, I just find it really hard to stay angry.

I was hoping for the option to finish an intense race, drive back to the festival, then have a cup of tea and put my feet up. Maybe read a book.

On another note my four old son giggled with complete joy when the announcer said his name.

  8. I’ll wait for ‘day one’. Pleased to hear very positive feedback so far.

Introduced my little boy who’s four to Horizon 4 on Series X at the weekend. He just said ‘Daddy, this is amazing’. This was closely followed by ‘crash into that car and that one’ etc…

Wonder what he’ll make of Horizon 5.

  9. I haven’t even played this console yet, but bloody hell it’s not that welcoming is it?  I can’t help but compare to Series X and the entire set up with that was seamless, conversely the PS5 is a pain in the arse. It feels very next gen, far more than the Series X, but it’s just so damned unintuitive. I always pressed this on the pad to turn my PS4 off, nope that doesn’t work, let’s look at the instructions, nope that doesn’t tell me either. Christ it’s noisy when installing games. Don’t get me wrong, I’m really excited to finally have a PS5, but the initial experience has dampened my enthusiasm somewhat.

  10. Picked mine up from Currys today along with Ratchet & Clank. May have put my back out. As I expected, given the difficulty placing the order, Currys got it wrong and there wasn't a copy of Ratchet and Clank with my console, so they had to give me a standard retail copy.

Also picked up Judgment, Lost Judgment and Death Stranding.

Thanks again to @Jonny5 for the VIP code.

I used to go into WH Smith’s & Boots, and do a thing that made the screen say LOAD”” PROGRAM: (name of whatever was the latest game) alongside that poke, and then watch people waiting for it to load until they realised there was no cassette player attached…

I did the very same thing.
