  1. I am in! You can set it up though
  2. I created a lobby for anyone here to join if you want (1v1 on sensible stages, no items). Lobby name: rllmuk Password: 1077 EDIT: I thought I would leave it on for a bit to see if anyone came, but the lobby is automatically shut down if no one joins after something like 10 mins. It really isnt easy doing this is it
  3. I am interested in getting involved, I added you @Fallows Are you guys still playing?
  4. @Spainkiller how does ganondorf feel in this edition? I am sad about losing up smash but his aerials looked pretty good I videos! Are you sticking with him in ultimate? I am waiting for my copy to ship from Amazon but we need to have some games against each other in this one. Congratulations on the tournament win - amazing!
  5. Why was this wrong? Wasnt he actually off the pitch when the pass was made?

Happy to see you still playing and now working on chapter 3 :). Surprised you are having issues with the fish mini boss actually as there is nothing very tricky about this boss, it is more just about learning positioning and I guess also you have to be brave about how close you can place your ship to the boss (as the hitbox inside your ship is very small). Can you practice just 3-2 in the Switch version of the game? This section is quite long and the mini boss is near the end so it might be a bit frustrating, but you can never practice 3-2 too much - it is the hardest section of the entire game to chain fully. This is really the method you will want to learn: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jtTCOpNQKy8 keep your eyes on your ship at all times and dont be drawn to looking at the boss :).
  7. I cant wait for the season to start. Most of our front line look a bit rusty today, still getting over the World Cup and we could have scored four. The interplay has been so quick and incisive. We are definitely going to score a lot of goals again this year.
  8. I think Allison is definitely the pick of all the available goalkeepers this summer (and I guess he should be for that price), but it is so exciting being a Liverpool fan these days. Breaking the world record for a defender and maybe now a GK in consecutive transfer windows. I would be very surprised if we moved for a new centre back - think VVD / Lovren / Matip is decent strength in depth plus Klavan / Gomez available. A new CB would mean the end for Matip I guess, just seems to make more sense to keep him.
  9. WCS Valencia is going on right now - http://www.teamliquid.net/video/streams/StarCraft for anyone interested!
  10. When was the last time you saw anything about a GK performance in a pre-season friendly? It is ridiculous, dont propagate it. Klopp seems to want to keep Karius, and the final aside he had a good season for us last season. We are supposed to be the fans of the team with YNWA as our philosophy. He needs our support. No idea who JakeFutbol is or why he thinks he knows more about what Liverpool need than our manager. Here is a stats radar of Karius' performance last season compared to the average: This is taken from a post in the pre Real Madrid game thread on RAWK (https://www.redandwhitekop.com/forum/index.php?topic=340145.msg16059201#msg16059201). The whole post is worth reading too.

I assume you are talking about 4-2? I think it is a lot like 2-1 - things are so quick that it is very difficult to keep up so can be really daunting. If you played Guitar Hero / Rock Band it is like the really fast sections in that where your hands just cant keep up with what you want to do. You need muscle memory to help you which just comes from practice. Try to break down the sections into mini sections and just focus on that - breaking it down into small chunks can help with your sanity as you will see improvement much faster. The nice thing about both 2-1 and 4-2 is that one you have learnt the sections properly and your hands are happy to do it quick enough you can become really consistent at them and they will rarely pose you problems.
  12. Football analysis on TV is completely results oriented. If England were given a penalty Sterling would have been clever, especially if it happened in an important game.

Yeah you pretty much always fire the homing missiles when there is only enemies of one colour on the screen OR you are right next to the only enemy of the opposite colour so can guarantee that will die first. In some rare occasions you do fire with the closest 12 enemies (or 11 if you are insta killing one close to you) are all the same colour (in sections of 4-2 for example). You can rely on the fact that the closest enemies will be targeted but have to watch out because other enemies can accidentally die if they are in the arc path of the missiles. In prototype mode there are a few exceptions to this where you can control your bullets to control the number of missiles you have but these are exceptions.

Haha I have been enjoying rereading this thread and hopefully a bit more traffic to the site but I don't dare touch ikaruga - I just don't have the time to dedicate these days and I couldn't cope with how bad I would be. I am really on a leather chair with a cat though :). I would offer by way of advice and encouragement to any newcomers no matter how hard a section looks you can do it with practice. All the game takes is practice and dedication. It is so satisfying when it all comes together too.
  15. None of the England goalkeepers are an improvement on Karius. Donnarumma has had a terrible season and I really dont think is a good option at this point. I think Allison is pretty much the only available goalkeeper who would be an improvement and he would cost a lot which I why I have been so pleased how Karius reacted during the second half of the season since it effectively stopped the goalkeeper being an issue that needed to be resolved in the summer and the money could be spent elsewhere where it is needed. It is a shame these mistakes have opened up this issue again, I still remain hopeful he can get over it and stay in goal for us. Karius is quite a unique goalkeeper - he is very aggressive off his line and plays effectively as a sweeper and there are not many options to replace that unless we want to modify our tactics to change that.

You should have come joined the #ikaruga channel on irc or the gamfaqs ikaruga board before that. It is a time of my life I look back at with great fondness. I made a few friends that I still speak to today and the community was so positive and nice unlike pretty much every other video game community I have been involved in since. Since it is a single player game and we are all competing against the computer effectively everyone was open to share their new strategies and ideas and we were all in a similar position to you - either at uni or just finished so had a lot of time on our hands :).

It was at http://www.ikaruga-atari.net/. The site went down not long after the competition finished which was frustrating as the game provided a code that let you upload your score to the site. We hacked the code so that our website also supported the code - the ikaruga community had some very talented people involved . You need flash player to see the old content, try here: https://web.archive.org/web/20031230193143/http://www.ikaruga-atari.net/ (I cant see it as I dont have flash)

Yeah I am still paying the domain and hosting fees for the site! I havent cleaned up the scoreboard in ages tho, I think there are some dodgy scores on there so you might be higher than 50th
  19. Maybe Klopp and his team know more about footballers and goalkeepers than you and you are wrong? Since Karius has been back in the team he has played very well indeed - he has been one of the most effective goalkeepers in the premier league. I would post to his statistics to show this, but I know how much people in this thread hate stats! His aggressive sweeper style will cause mistakes (e.g. vs Palace) but also prevents a lot of shots and danger. Obviously this doesn't account for his two poor mistakes tonight but your post bears no relation to reality.
  20. Thought the Salah injury really stopped our momentum in the game and just shows how we lacked quality from the bench. Hopefully that will change over the summer. Real Madrid had Bale and Ascensio by way of comparison. Overall I thought Real Madrid deserved the win and it was an outstanding goal which effectively won them the game. I hope Karius can get over the mistakes, thought he made some key stops tonight and has been fantastic since he has been back in the team. Hopefully the players can take the positives out of the fantastic run in the Champions league and convert it into league form next season. I really hope Salah can recover in time for the World Cup poor guy
  21. I find it strange how happy the Man U fans were with the performance vs Liverpool - I dont think you will find any other home team in the top six who will have had less possession, shots, or attacks than Man U had vs Liverpool in the first half in any game this season (let alone the second half which was unbelievably bereft of anything other than defensive resolve). Sure they were clinical and pounced on the opportunities presented very well indeed but if that is a good performance from Man U then I cant imagine what a bad one looks like. Liverpool created similar xG from more shots and more possession when they lost 5-0 to Man City in what was their worst performance of the season when they had 10 men for the majority of the game. Obviously with the way the game panned out (scoring early) there is no need to create more chances, so I am not trying to equate the results but rather the performance and confidence on the ball. Man U defended well vs Liverpool that is clear, but how exactly did he let his players play? They were reliant on long balls and/or counters from minute one at home. It is outdated, negative football that is reliant on individual brilliance and on the opposition under performing in attack. Is it any wonder they looked like they had no confidence going into the Sevilla game when a good performance is creating 0.8xg at home from 32% possession and 5 shots (vs Liverpool), or 0.5xg from 43% possession and 6 shots (away vs Sevilla in the first leg)? Imagine how bad it must be being an attacking player for Man U? I found it amusing how last night the BT pundits were questioning the performance from the first leg when a month ago when it happened they were all declaring it a Mourinho masterclass in playing away in Europe.
  22. I am still playing pretty regularly so am up for some games if something is organised. Also I saw @spainkiller on the other day so I guess he is still playing too!
  23. The xG thing isnt bullshit - it is mostly a measure of luck/variance. Last season De Gea / Man U had an xGA of +2.6 and Lloris / Tottenham had an xGA of +7.8. This season De Gea / Man U have an xGA of +12 and Lloris / Tottenham have an xGA of -1.22. This gives an indication of the amount of variance in the numbers. Basically it tells you that this season Man U should have conceded a lot more goals and Tottenham probably should have conceded less. It is pretty stupid to take one seasons numbers and try to conclude how good a player is from it. De Gea is clearly a phenomenal goalkeeper but you cant really deduce that from this seasons xG numbers alone.
  24. Disappointed with the result but you have to say WBA played well especially Rondon. I think disallowing the goal was the right decision, while the rule says it needs to be deliberate the way the rule is always interpreted is that if you get an advantage from a handball it is a foul and thats what happened. Very different from the Everton game which was a complete travesty as Everton offered literally nothing all game but one falling over the only time they even got in our penalty box.
  25. @Plissken thanks for the response - I badly worded my message I didnt mean that Burnley had an easy opening I meant you cant explain their position through saying they had an easy opening because they didnt. I think your point with the article and xGA was also covered in the statsbomb article I linked to with data for the previous two seasons - their main conclusion was that its still hard to justify with anything other than variance and its an opinion I share. The point is that for any kind of meaningful discussion or analysis post game the xG stats are more important than the actual results. Sure you dont win prize money or medals for xG but you can use it to predict future results better than actual results which is the important thing if you want to have any kind of quality discussion or analysis.
