Llorisβ problem stems from being peppered with longer range shots constantly because Conteβs system is built around ceding possession in certain areas and defending deep, allowing teams to shoot from range because theyβre much less likely to score. Of course, he probably didnβt expect goals to be flying in off Dierβs arse, or Lloris to be spilling those long rangers into the path of attackers. We donβt have the players to play his system well enough. The club either have to bend to his will and get those players, or they have to find a more tactically flexible coach who can come up with a system that suits the players we do have. Ironically weβre short of two or three players who would make the difference in at least three formations, but the problem is that those two or three players we need change depending on what system we play.
The other issue we have is that the Hitchen purchases are largely still at the club and no-one wants to buy them.
