I’d let Son go too, assuming this is a two or three year rebuild. He’s already over 30.

As for formation, I think if everyone is fit we do have the players to cope with either 3 at the back (with Udogie and Porro as WBs) or a flat back four (with Reguilon and Royal as FBs), but that in itself shows that we will lack squad depth unless those pairs prove more adaptable than we’ve seen so far. Obviously we need at the very least two vaguely competent CBs to hold Romero’s hand. I think Sarr is going to be a very good player, but the flappy-armed Dane who talks a better game than he plays can fuck off. All these coaches rave about Skipp, but I still don’t see it myself. Bissouma could still come good if they actually play him where he’s supposed to play, so him, Sarr and Bentancur, plus a couple of reinforcements looks good to me. Richarlison as main striker, and then perm the providers out of Kulu, Danjuma and Gil, assuming we don’t get anyone better in the rebuild. It’s fucking annoying that Sabitzer is playing so well at Man Utd, because we were linked with him for several windows when Levy wouldn’t buy anyone.

One thing Conte’s formation has proved is that two CMs doesn’t work anymore, unless they’re fucking exceptional, so that leaves us with 3-5-2 and 4-3-2-1 or a variation of those.

Getting quite frustrated with this as the moment. Slid down from lvl 70 to lvl 58 over the weekend because I still can’t pull certain cards that would help a lot, and it seems no matter what type of deck I play, I seem to get drawn against people who have the perfect counter deck, or I get screwed by the locations.

It’s probably for the best as the players who really don’t want to be there will fuck off if they don’t even get Europa Conference, and the club get a season with time to actually start building a team again. This lot are genuinely gone. Word is that Lloris refused to come out for the second half; some wags online have already commented that they wished he hadn’t come out for the first half either. As woeful a 45 minutes as you’ll ever see from a supposed Premier League team. I’m even considering offering my 8-year old a one-time opportunity to switch allegiance. I can’t force him to endure this shit for the rest of his life.

After a performance like that, which of these ‘super’ managers would want to come here ?

I’m fairly ambivalent about him staying now. All the time there seemed to be hope of breaking the cycle of not winning anything I was glad he stayed, but it seems clear that we need to start a proper rebuild, and I think that means we need to start looking at a squad that are young enough to stick together for the three years or so that it’ll take to get them playing like a proper team and hopefully challenging again :-

which looks a decent nucleus, obviously filling in the glaring blanks at GK, CB and CAM, and upgrading when and where they can along the way by capitalising on the sale of Kane, Son, Hojbjerg, Sessegnon, Dier, Ndombele, Lo Celso, Sanchez etc., while they’re still able to fetch decent fees (in some cases), and bringing in a tactically flexible attack-minded coach who isn’t too afraid (or too stubborn) to blood the younger players. Our U17s just won the Premier League Cup, and I think the U18s and U21s are challenging for honours too this season, so there’s a crop of youngsters coming through, some of whom might well make the grade too. I just think we need a clean sweep of the old guard. In short, do what Pochettino did last time, but with funding. Like Arsenal have been doing with Arteta.

However, I doubt they’ll be brave enough to do it. The reports they they’re desperate to give players like Dier a new contract, for example, fill me with dread for what they have planned.

I’m still not sure Poch is the answer, and he did bag us some good players, but I agree that they need to draw a line under his time here. Levy said he wanted to re-establish the Spurs DNA of attacking football, and Paratici brought us Nuno and Conte.

Yeah, it’s no longer brilliant for a Black Panther deck as you run the risk of Zola-ing Shuri instead of BP. Still good for non-Zola decks where that’s not so much of an issue.
