  1. I'm sure there's a large amount of people still wanting a code (for the Xbox One beta) so rather than pick someone who has posted recently I'll just post this here and wish you all good luck.

    FC2QC-DTYPG-2CGY9-GMQPR-Q69MZ

Used this... Thanks so much, been trying to get a code for 2 days now. Cheers. If my code ever gets through i will post it here

  2. Sorry, negged this by mistake. :-(

    No worries

I have a XB1 and PS4 so not biased either way. I had a 2nd controller for my PS4 so it was not too much of a inconvenience. Either way i think that both companies should have a better policy for failed controllers, especially as faulty pads seem to be more prevalent this gen.

I think it took 10 days for Sony to get another controller to me, this was a week after the consoles release.

  3. Has anyone returned anything to sony? Do they communicate much? I sent my controllers back after calling them but haven't heard anything to say they've got them or looked at them. Was only weds that I posted so not worried, just wondered if I should look out for anything.

Yeah, i returned my ps4 controller before xmas, had heard nothing after 10 days so contacted them. They could not advise if they had received them or not? Told me to wait a few more days then 2 days later a replacement controller arrived. So, no, dont expect them to contact you to advise they have your item/have sent you out a replacement, for the UK this was.

  4. I'd be up for some BF4 tonight for sure! Had an invite from Kerrraig I think last week but I couldn't stay on for long!Anyone (without premium) had any luck getting China Rising working? Suppose to be available today, also it is the first time it has showed up in the Battlefield store in game, I have redeemed my preorder CR code which shows it is downloaded and installed on my PS4 but it is asking me to pay for it :/[Edit] ***For Anyone With Same Issue***Had to go into PS Store>Games>BF4>Add OnsThen it said select version, then it let me choose from £12 or Free, obviously Free version it is as soon as I done that it started downloading 3764mb of China Rising!

Thanks mate, had the same issue and this solved it, appreciate your advice.

  5. Thanks, i intend to buy that and a new set of foam bits for speakers and mic - i assume getting it direct from TB is the best place?

Just use the link on the previous page that Mechamonkey put up. It links to the Amazon site, i ordered yesterday and it was dispatched today.

  6. Have just ordered a set of TB xp400, missed a refurb set on eBay by 2 quid but found a cheaper pair on amazon!

Will see how I get on with switching between amp and speakers for sound output but sounds easy and quick on ps4 and a bit of a chore on ps3(nothing new there then...)

Make sure you pick up the PS4 chat cable, assuming it does not come with it.

  7. I use TB XP400's wireless DD surround. I have 3 young kids so although i have a reasonable amp/speaker set up, i never really get the chance to use it. That being said, i actually much prefer the sound through my TB's and would recommend them to anyone. I also use them for all my tv watching on a sky hd box, so they get used every single day.

Still in very good nick and hold a charge well. They are about 18 months old now, when i bought them they were the best part of £200 but i have just seen an refurb set on the official TB website for £41.

If you want them for PS4 then you would have to buy the chat cable for £5. Other than that, i cant give them high enough praise.

  8. Elmo, thanks for the quick reply. I did call the number but it is going through to voicemail now. Anyway, i have ordered it from the Amazon link for same price/delivery time. Thanks to Mechamonkey for the link and info, been searching for this cable for much of the day.

  9. Trust me I checked. :)

Then tried them every conceivable way just on the off chance the connector markings were wrong.

With three different sets of batteries :|

On way home with new pad. Fingers crossed.

Ok, hope it works for you.

  10. I'm in the same boat. Going to pick up another pad just to eliminate that first because I truly can't be bothered packing everything up and trudging back to game. Is there an obvious way to tell if the pad is getting power? The lack of a light up X not helpful.

Honestly, not taking the piss here, are you sure you have the batteries in the correct way round, if you look at the flat silver metal connectors it has a '+ & -' on it, pretty tucked away. They don't go in the obvious way round.

  11. From GAF

Astro has this to say on the matter:

"I've had it confirmed that the Xbox One will indeed not support any Dolby technology at launch due to a decision made by Microsoft. However, this will not render your equipment unusable or reduce your audio quality. When you receive your Xbox One, you will need to set the optical output to stereo. Our equipment will then take that signal and upscale it to a 7.1 Enhanced Surround Sound signal using Dolby Pro Logic IIx and Dolby Headphone to make it feel more realistic and natural as you've been accustomed to on the Xbox 360 and PS3.

So in the end, no matter which console you choose, you will still have a Dolby Digital experience.

I understand it's a little disheartening hearing this a day before launch and can only apologise for this. I'll be back on the forums in a couple of hours after some rest to answer any questions you might have regarding this situation so feel free to post them now and I'll get you a response as quickly as possible.

You can read our full "press release" here on our facebook at https://www.facebook.com/astrogaming "

  12. It's not like game software natively makes DD5.1 and you can just spit that down the optical cable, you have to write an encoder and make sure it has low latency so sometimes things can go wrong. In this case it sounds like whoever was in charge of it missed a deadline and the certification train rolled along without them.

Might be the case, i hope so, but that is a pretty big slip up, no?

  13. Why the fuck is it post launch? And when is it coming? I cannot fathom what "SW scheduliung issue" caused an output, that is pretty much exclusively used to carry multi channel audio, to not carry multi channel audio. Its like having an HDMI connection not carry an HD picture.

    Totally agree.

Unless you have an optical out on your amp (I don't), i am not sure how you would be able to get DD sound through a headset, i dont know any that use HDMI, do they exist?

  14. At launch - but don't let that stop your queer anti-xbox crusade :)

    Yoshimax

I have a xb1 arriving tomorrow (hopefully) but the lack of of DD is a real let down for me. I have 3 young kids so when gaming i have to use a headset. I have a Turtle Beach surround sound headset that works a treat on 360, ps3 and will work on Ps4. It is Dolby Digital only, no DTS which i think is the case for most surround headsets from TB and Astro. So, i will be going back to the 80's and playing my new next gen console in stereo because the XB1 does not support DD through optical, which is frankly ridiculous.

I believe that MS were/are planning to use the new XB1 proprietary controller output to lock down the headset surround/chat option and hope to control this market as they see fit. If true, that is very cynical. Albert P says that an update will be coming post launch, but that could be anytime between launch and when the cows come home. Either way, many people are gonna be stuck with stereo sound on a next gen machine, which actually puts us 2 generation of consoles behind on this issue at least.

So, yes, for me it is a big deal

    I have tweeted Albert.

  15. So no Dolby Digital via optical at launch from XB1, that is a poor show.

Anyone with an HDMI receiver should be fine, as we pass the uncompressed 5.1 and 7.1 through HDMI as well as DTS. Even if you have a Dolby only HDMI receiver (which I'm not sure exists), you will still get 5.1 or 7.1 sound since those receivers should accept uncompressed surround.

For the Dolby only headsets, my understanding is that these will work but you will only get stereo audio since we only pass Stereo and DTS through the optical port. I have not tested this myself, but I'm told it works. Regardless, I understand this is an inconvenience, but again we're going to have Dolby coming.

This is unrelated to the HDMI-IN "Surround Sound" beta. To clarify, we default HDMI-IN audio to be converted to Stereo. However, we do have a feature you can access in TV settings/Troubleshooting that enables Surround Sound in "beta" form. If you check the box, and you get Surround, you're golden. We found some inconsistencies in STB's during testing and decided to disable it by default to insure a good initial setup experience for people.

  16. Thanks for the reply.

I hope it don't suck as I have one preordered as well as a PS4. If you are skint, fair enough, shame though as you have been passionate about it for months in this thread. Have not agreed with all of your comments but nobody could deny your contribution to this and the Forza thread.

If I am honest and i had to choose only one i would go with the ps4 but i am actually looking forward to playing Ryse and Forza as much as anything on PS4.

Hopefully you have a change of fortune and pick one up at some point.
