  1. Yeah it’s by region. Last time it slowly went in stock over different regions over a few hours.

thankfully my weak bladder woke me up. Had a quick check of the twitch stream and it was going nuts. Popped onto the app and ordered. Very lucky.

although they have charged me twice so I’ve got some explaining to do in the morning.

The perfect time for all the bots to snap them up!

Apparently SONY is starting to sell them direct from their website in US, hopefully they do a decent job then do same here.

It'd be brilliant if you have to submit your PSN ID to order one. Didn't they do that when they first launched?

I get much, much more use out of my Series S, thanks to Game Pass, than I do my PS5, and would be fine with just the S.

I saw you on that Twitch stream telling people that the Series X is a good console, but the crowd in a lot of these places seems very Metro Gaming - PS5 is literally the only console worth owning, sort of thing, so I can see why for a certain crowd, PS5 is the only next gen experience you're remotely interested in and you end up with people doing weird things.

Yeah It's funny, you see people in there chatting about how shit the xbox is and I just think... why? To me it feels like they're not even competing anymore yet some people still want to rage a console war.

Saying that I'm in a twitch chat for a PS5 stock alert stream defending the Xbox. Who's the idiot?

It’s a good point, often I’ll upgrade my phone for no real reason, but when I get the new one I always like it or there’s always something better about it. No doubt this will happen with PS5 too, I think being in such short supply puts me off too, prevents that kind of purchase when you just get it in your head you want one, and buy one, but with PS5 you need to be really committed to get one.

yeah it’s crazy. You literally have to follow all the rumours and be prepared to buy one throughout the day just to have a chance of getting one. I’ve read tweets about people staying up 40hrs at a time just in case Argos to their usual 2am drop or whatever.

At this point I’d like one for sure but I’m not doing that. It’s nuts.

I feel like this, during the launch I was definitely feeling the FOMO but now I’m not really arsed, whilst I’d definitely enjoy Demon’s I’ve already played it to death on PS3, and whilst I enjoyed Spider-Man I’d kind of already had my fill of the first game on PS4, and I could always play Miles Morales on my PS4 too if I really wanted. So I really see no compelling reasons to buy any new console right now, so it’s surprising how in demand they are.

you see the same thing with new mobile phones and they’re way more expensive.

I’m properly happy with my Series X. I’m not playing anything mind blowing on it in terms of getting that ‘next gen’ gaming fix but the improved loading times and how well everything runs makes the upgrade totally worth it considering how much I love gaming.

PS5s make up a tiny proportion of Argos' turnover. I imagine they chuck it on at 3am because they don't want it broken during the day by this lot:

Yeah I'd imagine that's the reason. I mean so many sites have gone down for ages because of PS5 drops. Shoot have been absolutely pummelled for hours at a time.

I woke up at 3:40 or something, not on purpose, just woke up, looked at Argos, site was down, restarted the pod and went back to sleep :)

i really do feel sorry for all those people who are staying up night after night over these rumours. It’s mad.

Conversely, I think it's one of my favourite looking consoles. I love the look of the machine.

It also does look better when it's not - upside down, not on it's stand and crammed into a tiny brown wood enclosure.

    why lie about it tho

    In & Of Itself

Storyteller and Conceptual Magician Derek DelGaudio attempts to understand the illusory nature of identity and answer the deceptively simple question 'Who am I?'

I saw this getting good notices so I thought I’d check it out as a change from what I’d normally watch. It’s a recording of a live show – 20% magic show, 80% spoken word/performance art. The magician tells some stories of his life, does some tricks and involves the audience. There’s puppets, close-up magic and some mind-reading bits.

I couldn’t really get into this. I liked the magic bits but the philosophy and introspection bits left me pretty cold. There were one or two tricks I couldn’t work out so I think a ‘proper’ magic show from this guy would be pretty interesting. But this type of performance wasn’t for me.

watched this last night and wanted to see if anyone else on Rllmuk had seen it. It’s a shame it didn’t click with you because it absolutely blew me away.

I was a bit of a wreck by the end and I can’t stop thinking about it.

For those put off by the idea of watching a 90 minute magic show, don’t be. It’s not about the magic at all. The trick he does to finish the show is incredible really because you start with the usual “how does he do that?” Then move on to theories about how he does it, then for me it hit me that it really doesn’t matter. It’s not about the tricks, it’s about how the audience is reacting and what that means.

It’s slow, plodding and I have a feeling a lot of people will lose interest quickly. But if it does manage to click with you then it’ll hit you like a ton of bricks.

    Definitely give it a go.

I miss the good old days of Videogamer podcast :( That was the ultimate in my opinion.

I listen to Beastcast these days.

Tried TCGS a couple of times (think it was their game of the year and then one after), but it was like being sat behind a table of annoying fellas having banter at the pub.. taking it in turns to take the mick out of each other. They spent most of the time doing that and I just wanted to hear about video games. Might give it a go again to see if that was just a wrong first impression.

Nope that’s the most spot on first impression I think I’ve ever read tbf
