I thought we'd moved past this, but apparently not.

That's the quote that made me compare you to psmvp. You took a free code for a game you didn't bother to finish, posted a review without ever stating that you hadn't completed the game, then called someone else out for "essentially stealing". Can you see the hypocrisy?

I can't no. But there's nothing else I can do for you. I've passed on your feedback to spong and apologised if you felt I was dishonest so I'll leave it at that.

Fair enough. I feel like I can review games I've not finished. I have an opinion based partly on whether I am compelled to finish it.

Yeah I agree and as has been said it's game specific. But if people think sites should be clearer about that then I'll ask spong what they think innit

ffs, I've listened to the podcast too much for sure, everytime I read one of elmo's posts I'm doing it in his bloody voice in my head :P

Oh fuck off James. You're doing my head in, know what I mean.

Replace him with rotating guest spots from Chet, Jon and Tamoor. And you can't dump James! Who else is going to be the whipping boy for Elmo?

There's no way we'd get rid of James. I love that bloke.

It's absolute nonsense to claim that you cannot review a game unless you have finished it.

To be fair, he's since clarified that it could be clearer on Spong what is being reviewed when being reviewed and I can see his point. I've passed that on.

It's the other shit that's nonsense. "Ignoring" emails, accusing us of covering things up and comparing us to someone who plagiarises.

This is all theoretical but based on how hard you bounced back against my examples of why I thought it was misleading, I'm not sure that it would have been that simple. And as you said, my email trying to discuss exactly that was ignored (around the same time when Matt was begging for more emails because you guys apparently didn't get any). You're free to disagree with me but pointing out what I think is hypocrisy doesn't automatically mean it's not constructive, it's just giving evidence as to why I believe what I do. I wasn't rude or abusive and I didn't resort to name calling, I just explained why I thought there were similarities between the two situations.

Mate, we did not 'ignore' your email. They all go on the google doc and we work through them. Some don't make it on the show. If you don't believe that then there's nothing I can do about that.

I've literally just sent an email to Spong with your feedback. I have no problem passing that on. I bounced back because you accused me of being dishonest and compared me to someone who stole content from another site and passed it off as their own. As someone who puts an insane amount of time into what I do, that hurt me a bit, that's all.

  7. Radish, look we're cool. As I say I'll pass this on. Had you come to me and said "I notice Spong don't clarify how long has been spent on a game above a review and I think that's important" I'd have just said "Noted I'll pass that on"

Instead you said "You're not much better than they are." "TCGS/Spong do exactly the same thing." and accused the show of not reading your email/tweet out to try and cover things up. That's not constructive criticism, that's accusing me personally of being dishonest and trying to cover things up. I'm not and I don't and I hope I've made that clear.

And I'm sure most of us appreciate it. Don't let this bit of negativity get you down. Keep up the good work. :-)

I'm aight. I wrote these posts on the fucking bus which doesn't help. I'll pass all this on to spong and let them do what they want to do with it. As for TCGS I'm not changing a thing. As Radish said he'd heard that James hadn't finished the game in question on the show. We don't hide anything. That was literally the first rule when we started talking about doing a new show. If you think it, say it. Don't hold back, don't bullshit. To be accused of doing that as a show is bad enough, to be compared to someone who wholesale stole someone else's content got my back up a bit.

  9. That's fair enough and I'll send Spong that feedback but I don't run that website. I don't even write the tagline that you take issue with. I guess I'm getting pissed off here because I even completed Devils Third before writing the review. Do you know what it's like completing Devil's Third? DO YOU KNOW HOW HARD THAT WAS?

Listen, Spong ask me to write reviews for them, I'm always open and honest with them, as I am on the show. As I say there's no cover up here. If you feel that hasn't been the case then I can only apologise and all I can do is pass that on to Spong, which I will. To be honest I avoid reading my reviews on the site because as I've said countless times, I'm not a writer and don't like my writing. I focus on podcasting and there's never been a time on that podcast where we've tried to mislead or lie about our gaming opinions. I know James hasn't either.

Regarding PSMVP, I didn't even properly kick off about them nicking my review. My main issue was how they took themselves way too seriously, with contracts, falling out, meetings, lawyers etc. And me saying I only podcast for free games... that's clearly a joke. I love podcasting, have been into radio and comedy since I was a kid. That's why I podcast.

  10. Radish, if you felt I've misled you, I'm sorry. That's not my intention and I've always thought I've been clear on the matter. I guess we see this issue differently. The best thing for you to do is to stop reading my reviews, and stop listening to the podcast. If you can't trust our opinion then so be it.

as for your email not being read out. Unfortunately there's no conspiracy. We get tons of emails and tweets and we don't read them all out.

  11. I don't usually get pissed off but this has got me. I put in total about 15 hours into playing, writing and talking about Future Unfolding. And TCGS/Spong are just as bad as someone who copy and pasted my review. What a load of bollocks.

  12. Similar things.

Man. I spend 30 hours playing a game, a couple of hours writing a review after forming an opinion, hours recording a podcast, more so editing it and publishing. All for free.

You see that as the same thing as copy and pasting someone else's work and trying to pass it off as my own.

I don't even follow your logic.

Bought it again on PS4 after giving up after 30mins on Steam. Played it for about 30mins again, interesting to actually witness a new start with different puzzles. It's so incredibly abstract that I'm desperately finding that I'm making my own idea of what the game is. Right now, you know when you get the big glowy white things that teleport you to a REALLY abstract art style (like reds and blues), to me that marks the start of a new section. You can't go back, so I am making some sort of progress by finding my way to those.

It's so chilled, just running around trying to fill out the map. It's a bit like doodling or something, you could quite easily just put any soundtrack to it and just 'play'. The most scary part of this game is that I'm going to get to a point where I get lost but amazingly that hasn't happened, I seem to be finding my way to the 'puzzles' seemingly by luck much of the time. Which is good as I need to feel like I'm progressing otherwise I'm not going to last very long. I want to play some more still...

Going by what you're saying, yes you're progressing. The weird thing about the first few hours is that you progress without really knowing that you are. Once you work out how to progress you see things a bit differently.

I enjoyed that, despite not feeling the same way about the game.

I did laugh at the bit at 1:20 though.

"There were little bits that seemed a little bit different."

Yeah not the most subtle example, I'll give you that

That was a tense game yesterday. Classic Millwall though - what was that pitch invasion about?

It was a shit game of football, no doubt.

Neither team did enough to win the game really so it was a bit of a coin toss in the end and luckily we edged it. The pitch invasion was embarrassing. Completely spoiled the celebrations.

But what and incredible day I had. I owe my mate (who set the whole thing up for me) big time.

  16. Can't relate to that second paragraph at all. You're rewarded with extra puzzles if you look about. You can stumble on an exit pretty easily. I always avoided using it until I'd fully explored.
