  1. I can rate each band out of 10 for you when I see them if it'll help?
  2. Thanks. Ugh, you'd think having a ticket would be enough. I'll have to check my mate's got all this sorted.

    V Festival

Hey let's play 3 Radiohead songs and every Kasabian song ever written. Die in a fire, E4. Channel 4 was even better. That's it Channel 4, you play one Radiohead song. I was watching to see Alex "gaylord" Zane talk rubbish, not to see any music.
  4. How does the car parking thing work? Does each ticket come with a parking thing?
  5. Good to see others are having late tickets, my girlfriend's still not got hers and its "doing my 'ead in". Then I'd have a decision to make.
  6. The album I have is mental. It's the one with Never Get Ahead on it. Some of it is brilliant, some of it awful, some of it just plain strange. It's a mix of soul, motown, funk and... punk. Or something. You'll see. The quality of the instruments was messed up for the video to add to the retro-ness if anyone was wondering. It's clean on the album. Definitely worth investigating.

    Sparklehorse

Funny, I think it's his most consistent album since Vivadixie. I'm really loving it. You know that rare feeling when there's an album that really strikes you, an album that when you've been out all day you're absolutely desperate to hear when you get home? Erm yeah, I've getting that.

Ooh, you big show off. That guitar is absolutely gorgeous.

New album leaked. Why on earth are they so unspoken of here? Ace band. Knives Of Summertime is astounding, and the album as a whole has barely any weak parts, which was my problem with his last two albums.
  10. They're at Reading/Leeds! Thoroughly decent after the disappointment of Malkmus' latest. Second track in particular.

    Snow Patrol.

What? Why are you all talking as if Final Straw was the first album? The first album was almost completely excellent, and the second has some astounding songs on it. When It's All Over We Still Have To Clear Up (the song) is astounding. Really. With lyrics any insecure bozo can relate to. That's most of us, then.
  12. Broken Flowers... at first. Spoilers follow. I thought it was terrible. But I kept thinking about it. I kept thinking and thinking, trying to figure out how Murray's character had turned out. I kept thinking about whether or not he'd changed, whether by the end he actually really wanted a long lost child. If he wanted his girlfriend back and if maybe he'd found that spark his life was missing. The scene at the end with the young guy - excellent. A great ending. Any film that leaves you sitting at work, just thinking, has done its job. Another case - the exceptional Miller's Crossing, which - at first - seems to end a little abruptly. Everyone should see that film. Everyone.

    The Eraser

This 'clicked' yesterday. I now adore it. Also clicking were most of Radiohead's new songs. The new album is going to absolutely destroy the disappointing HTTT.
  14. Haha look mother he changed it and made it funny And take your photo off your avatar. What kind of loser has their photo as their avatar?
  15. Disagree entirely. I've always thought Idlewild were better with their less commercial tracks, such as much of Hope Is Important or a track like Too Long Awake. The folk is run of the mill and ordinary. And dull. He's just not particularly good at it. Horrible voice, too.
  16. It's not strictly piano music, there is singing and some guitar, but I've stunned three or four people with the song Daze Of Nothing by Maximillian Hecker. It's wonderful.
  17. CORLETH THE FEY WOULD LIKE TO REITERATE ONCE AGAIN, HE WENT TO THE GIG WITH LADIES. NOT JUST FRIENDS, LADIES. HE'S COOL LIKE THAT.

    The Dears

Yeah, they're the two which have been occupying me recently, in between revisiting The National and finally realising how utterly brilliant Terror Twilight is. Pavement really were best band. I love how you can barely make out a word Luke Sleepy Jackson is saying. It's like some wonderful kind of pop gospel. Ace.

Am I the only one who loves this? Am I? Am I? AM I?

    The Eraser

Yeah, I am. (You just reminded me.)

    The Dears

To me, Corduroy Boy is sub-Blur, from when The Dears were a (poor) Britpop band. It's by no means awful, but I much them from Hollywood Bedtime onwards.

    The Dears

I really love it, but it could be connected to me being pretty damn happy recently. Expecting more downcast stuff after No Cities Left, I was surprised, but mostly pleasantly. I think they peaked with the Protest EP, along with first half of No Cities Left, which are both frankly incredible. I'm a little annoyed you felt the need to rate it out of five, but let's not turn this into a debate about critical analysis.

    The Dears

I'm never clear on how big this band is, but I'm surprised there's no thread for this, regardless. It's fantastic. Warning though: it's poppy, and it's pretty instant. I loved it on first listen which possibly doesn't bode too well... I can't stop listening though. Perhaps i'll hit a point going from loving it to wanting it far away from my stereo (see Jim Noir). Perhaps I just lack the will to curb my listenings on an album that strikes me. Enough. Definitely check it out. I've a feeling it will disappoint as many as it delights, though.
  24. Me too. Lost Souls, that is. This is dull as hell, especially after the promising Atlantic.
