Don't get me wrong, I still enjoyed Zelda. But I think I died once in the entire thing, and that was some really, really poor play on my part. You are always the same. The game 'rewards' your skills by becoming a lot harder! Like I mentioned briefly, it means that you can never reach a comfort zone. I both love and hate it. Like Ninja Gaiden, though, the sense of satisfaction for finishing off a hard section is often fantastic.

What, did you play on Easy or something? You know the level in the bottom left? The higher that is, the harder the enemies are, and the more of them there are. The levels are 1,2,3 and die. 1 and 2 aren't too bad, but I get pretty badly pasted on the other 2. The game's hard mode sees you on level die for the duration. I have to say, I'm surprised there aren't more people playing this. Aren't you all sick of how easy games are now? How you have to play two-thirds of anything before it gets anything like challenging? The new Zelda was a joke.

I'm about half way through stage 3. This game is huge. At the moment, I seem to keep switching between absolutely loving it and punching my own cock in frustration. The better I get, the harder the game gets. The more you dodge successfully, and the more you fight without getting hit, the more your enemies "level up". Basically, you will never reach a comfort zone with this game. And the higher levels are punishing. Even the weakest enemies will take half your life bar in a second. And when I reach the top level I lose my concentration in all the excitement, and this is a game where you can barely afford to blink. I'm currently on a level where I need to fight five relentlessly attacking midgets.
  4. Fans is the best song they've ever done.

    Mclusky

Ha, I thought that would get a rise. Without writing an essay, I mean... I really can't be bothered. I'm sure you know what I mean without me telling you that there's loads of post rock, indie rock etc that I love.
  6. This is quite possibly their best album yet.

    Mclusky

I'm not a big rock fan, I think it's for the most part dire and uninspired. But the vastly overlooked Mclusky are fantastic. Relentlessly angry but never forgetting to put it against a good tune, I'd put Mclusky Do Dallas up with Rated R and Songs For The Deaf by QOTSA as one of the few rock albums which truly delivers. I'd implore anyone who hasn't to check them out. Such a shame they died. SADFACE
  8. It's a tie between About you by JMC and How Can I love You (If You Won't Lie Down) by Silver Jews.
  9. I'm not hugely into electronic music, but both Ulrich Schnauss albums are incredible.
  10. Nah, I saw them at Birmingham. Perhaps Cold War Kids were "off" that day. Or they'd been replaced with highly sophisticated jazz robots.
  11. Yeah, Catachresis says what I was about to. The piano is incredible, but that song is all about the build up.
  12. That seems a bit low, Yobo Ahoy. Are you sure you don't mean 11 million?
  13. Oh man, what?! Cold War Kids were dreadful, I like their album but they were dull as hell. And Clap Your Hands were brilliant.
  14. Best pinball game ever. Bored of the new Zelda, I switched this on and had a blast. So brilliant. Always clear what you have to do and superbly balanced. Best pinball game ever?
  15. Agreed. I am shaking with excitement for a studio version of Videotape (may be partly due to having my finger in a plug socket.)
  16. Anyone have an invite free? Would be much appreciated! Cheers!
  17. Amnesiac is such a ridiculous grower. I've gone from hating to adoring. Come on then, who else loves Pulk/Pull? So many people hate it but I frickin' lav it man.
  18. I saw them last night and they were amazing. The new album is half crap, but tracks 1,3,5,10,11 are definitely up there with the first album. Easily.
  19. Haha, I've only been reading the forums for 5 minutes and already essell has embarrassed himself badly twice, trying to be clever.
  20. The dullest record I've heard for a long time, and that's saying something, seeing as Made Up Lovesong #43 is one of my favourite songs of last year.
  21. Hope Is Important has the best songs they've done on, although 100 Broken Windows is the better album overall. (And yes, I have Captain. I don't really rate it, though.) The new album sounds completely awful on two listens.
  22. Why do you think I posted, wanky?
