  1. Er, what? Are you 65 days of static's mum or something? Am I suddenly not allowed to have an opinion? I've never heard the band before... so I checked them out... and didn't really like it. Plus I have no connection with Do Make Say Think, by the way. Sorry if I've offended you, but I'm not sure what I've done wrong...
  2. Thanks very much for that. I think it's very underwhelming, unfortunately. I'd recommend the new, brilliant, Do Make Say Think album to anyone reading as a better alternative.
  3. I'll quote this, and refer to CussYouBad's posts when I say... this was fantastic entertainment. I laughed (a lot), the action was mostly great, and the fact so much was happening meant it didn't lull. Apart from a couple of overly long emotional scenes, I'll admit. I adored the emo bits. How the irony is lost on so many of you really shows you all up. Husks. And the second was so clearly better than the first by such a margin that it's hard to quantify it. It's 18,000 swans better.
  4. I bet if they - for example - bought the S.T.A.L.K.E.R. engine, and spent the time they would have otherwise spent on mechanics on dialogue and characters... it could work. Perhaps. S.T.A.L.K.E.R. + adjustments + Fallout world and humour would be the best thing ever.

I'm not really up for a circular argument, just to say that I'm not offended, I merely thought that what I quoted from you was plain wrong. How you can call it "empty", then say that it's not a criticism is beyond me...

I strongly disagree, Gospel is beautiful. And this: is just not true. I don't know where to start.
  7. I've been playing Diamond! It's really dull and virtually no different to Blue which I played nearly a decade ago! Hurrah!
  8. Yes. Season 2 was the best. It made me laugh so much. Rawls' gay banter was hilarious - it's a shame his character went a bit serious.
  9. I find it slightly irritating that people seem to thing that, because the show is called "The Wire", it absolutely must centre around that. Really, how much variation could you get from wiretap after wiretap? Seasons 3 & 4 have less and less of it, but this show is about the characters. With Season 4 they weren't scared to spend a great deal of time centring on the election, school and boxing storylines, and - whilst at first I found it a bit off-putting - I now find it all the more enjoyable for it. Less McNulty makes me cry a bit, though.
  10. I'm five episodes into Season 4, and it's just incredible. It's a disappointment in one respect: the police seem to be nowhere near as charismatic or funny as earlier seasons. Maybe it's because I know them all now. Really don't let it put you off, though. That's possibly my only criticism of the whole show.
  11. Watching The Smell Of, Bang Bang, and Vic Reeves' Big Night Out recently, it became clear that Bob is and always was far funnier than Vic. Vic is still brilliant, though. They were that good. Shame about Monkey Trousers, and... Catterick? Who else saw the pilot for "The Weekenders"? That was amazing. How Catterick got the green light and not that is beyond me.

The old topic has disappeared! Oh no! It's still the best album from anyone for a long, long time!

Both B-Sides to Mistaken for Strangers (Black Slate, Santa Clara) are also wonderful. And The Thrilling of Claire, from the Alligator bonus disc, is one of the best songs they've ever done...

Racing Like A Pro aside, this record is perfect.

After a week of listening, I can quite confidently say: album of the decade.
  19. That was worth the wait (not really)
