I haven't played it myself. Nice artwork but it sounds like it wasn't properly finished. The designer seems to blame his coder though which is bad form really. If you're putting your name on the thing then you should take responsibility. |

Who buys these kinda games anyway? People with not much money to spend, or people with too much money to spend?

QUOTE (chase) Who buys these kinda games anyway? People with not much money to spend, or people with too much money to spend? Whats wrong with homebrew? Do you understand the whole point? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/smile.gif) They don't just serve those with little cash (or lots of cash) but they're fuel the fire of future programmers. Did you know that R-type command was done because todays so-called "Micky mouse" programmers don't understand how to program a shmup - as said by Irems own head dev. Homebrew is where you find the young pure arcade gamer, and those that are true to the cause of gaming. There none of this cut-scene led rubbish. Homebrew is the heart and soul of gaming and its effect is bigger then you might think. Games like Geo Wars have there heart in homebrew games. Simple but addictive and you'll be seeing Braid this week if you have XBLA - it doesn't appeal to me, but many will rave over its gameplay, artwork and music. |

Well, usually people who like the look of the games, and decide they're worth the asking price. Same as any title from a big publisher. Although I admit there's probably an element of wanting to 'support the little guy' in certain cases. |

QUOTE ...the player is given essentially no direction as to where to go, but to move randomly eastward, hoping to bump into something of importance while making blind leaps of faith, praying to land on something to show that they're on the right track. Fucking lousy programmers (IMG:style_emoticons/default/mad.gif) |

That does sound pretty dire. I'm shocked it got that far. Given the quality of the artwork i can only guess that he was trying to be really innovative, its the wrong version, or he's only a good artist.

I thought when people make homebrew games they mostly do it for free, like Narbacular Drop. Surprised there's a market for these kinda games when you can download so many similar ones for free on the net.

Bit storm in a teacup innit? Site gives broken game a bad review, site's users post negative comments without playing it (on the internet!?), dev tries to defend it and gets shouted down by internet bad dudes. Game gets patched. Negative comments naturally continue from people who haven't played it. Apart from the dev trying to defend their game, it's just another day on the internet.

Don't think a quick patch will fix a 1/10 game, dude.

With a working jump and that killer $5 price point it's easily worth the full 10 on value alone!

Stuff like Jets n Guns, Bullet candy, Trouble Witches. See the homebrew thead - theres billions in there. |

But he's issued a fix - clearly theres a problem with the joystick driver, a problem Xpadder would solve anyway.
I certainly wouldn't mark a game down just because i had to use a third party program. *edit* - I'll put my money where my mouth is |

Theres lots of homebrew games that don't support a joystick. I know they should but just because they don't changes nothing. Its just a small inconvenience.
