QUOTE Squeeze the R-trigger and you peer around the seat in front. On either side of a sweet-wrapper-strewn gangway passengers yawn at in-flight movies or snore from beneath grey blankets. Stewardesses giggle huddled and preoccupied ten metres behind you. Tick tock and Carpe Diem: the moment has arrived. You tap A and the seat belt and adrenaline unclasp. Advertisement Easing the analogue stick forward inconspicuously inches you towards the cockpit. Select brings up a mundane but deadly inventory. Bic razor equipped you slip through the door, mash the X-button to slit the pilot's throat then hit B to praise Allah for an ideological multiplier. Lock the door and L-click to engage the flight controls. The camera switches to a third-person view following the plane, lens-flared HUD as sparse as your character's emotion. New York's twin towers stand 25 minutes and 100 achievement points away. Eurogamer piece on censorship/ the columbine/ Slamdance game. |

It's a stupid name if it wants to be taken seriously.

Don't know, I know the game content isn't, not sure about the Wiki page. Don't want to take the risk myself (currently at work, don't tell the boss!).

I think that the name, along with the graphical style, are designed to juxtapose with the subject material. |

Also equally as bad and equally from Japan: Biko 3, just one of the Biko series of games where you play a young male who stalks and rapes women.
Why do I have to know about these games? (IMG:style_emoticons/default/sad.gif) |

That Battle Raper page is kinda SFW, some of the screens (though small) have minor and partial nudity, but there's nothing really bad there (like the gamename implies).
That Biko 3 thing though, what the fuck is going on there? How on earth was something like that allowed to be published? 'Really Good' ending? Fuck me, that is so wrong. That page is SFW too, but if someone finds you reading it you may have some explaining to do. That Eurogamer article is quite interesting, but it begs a follow-on article asking what the point of games/gaming is, and whether 'meaningful discussion and commentry' of real world events and issues is something that is wanted and / or could persist in gaming. I'd like to see the full interview with the game maker though, there's a lot of spin in that piece, and I feel he had more to say on the game which isn't conveyed in that article. |

The second part (presumably going up in the morning) deals with some of these wider issues that you mention. |

'Really Good' ending? Fuck me, that is so wrong. That page is SFW too, but if someone finds you reading it you may have some explaining to do. Japan has some incredibly backward censorship and publishing laws. It's perfectly legal to sell games about raping children, so long as you cover up private parts with some degree of mosaic or black bars. QUOTE That Eurogamer article is quite interesting, but it begs a follow-on article asking what the point of games/gaming is, and whether 'meaningful discussion and commentry' of real world events and issues is something that is wanted and / or could persist in gaming. Sounds like the whole "are games art?" discussion. While I believe both are possible, games are not a medium best suited to intellectual stimulation or enlightenment. For every Ico, there's 10 rape simulators. Can anyone think of a single game which was designed to provoke "meaningful discussion and commentry of real world events and issues", and not through extremism as in the OP's article? |

Yup, and it's still as crap as it ever was! http://www.columbinegame.com/ Can't stand games made using RPGMakerXP/2K, I honestly wish people would stop making them for their own sakes. It's a waste of their, and everybody elses', time. |
