Too right. I've just gone for favourite. Games aren't just about quantifiable 'goodness', it's about games that hold memories. It's like how you hear a really terrible song from the early '90s and wonder how you liked it, but secretly all the memories it holds make it great to listen to - regardless of the music. The 'experience' isn't just about the game...

Top 10 - 25 is pretty rock solid with order slowly breaking down as you progress. There are lots of current gen stuff near the bottom end: mainly because I think its so hard to evaluate stuff that is current in a proper manner.

i woke up this morning and realised i'd done something terribly wrong ;)
terra nova: strike force centauri and red baron were not in my list (as well as world cup 90, which i realised last night)!
i've been thinking about this and i have come to a conclusion:
i'm taking out rad mobile, shutokou highway battle and NARC in order to put them in. it's close, but it has to be done!

I found myself caught between finding this a pleasant exercise, and a severe mental trauma.
I'm 23 incidently, and was very Nintendo-centric throughout most of my childhood, hence the lean in that direction.

Forget who started this topic - but you're a bastard. :( This has taken up way too muchy of my time over the last few days.
However, I personally found it to be very interesting. Got my girlfriend to dump it into Excel so I could do some statistical analysis. Was amazed that very nearly a quarter of the games were on PS2 (24 in total).
In fact, the format breakdown (top 10 at least) goes as follows:
PS2 - 24
Xbox - 11
Saturn - 10

I was surprised to see Saturn beat the SNES, and that Gamecube was so far down.

Like some other posters have said, there are undoubtedly some omissions certain folk would be horrified with (Ocarina, Half Life 2, FFVII etc.) but I have to base the list on my personal experience. I could never get into Half Life 2, don't really dig RPG's and for some reason have never gotten around to playing Ocarina.
However, I personally found it to be very interesting. Got my girlfriend to dump it into Excel so I could do some statistical analysis. Was amazed that very nearly a quarter of the games were on PS2 (24 in total).
In fact, the format breakdown (top 10 at least) goes as follows:
PS2 - 24
Xbox - 11
Saturn - 10
SNES - 8
Dreamcast - 6
Gamecube - 5
NES - 5
Megadrive - 5

Gameboy - 3
I was surprised to see Saturn beat the SNES, and that Gamecube was so far down.

I just used Firefox's Find Next thing to search for how many times a platform occurred in my chart...apparently the majority are Arcade (22) and PC (17) games, with the Jaguar sharing minority honours with...the PS2 (1). Hmm.
