I wanna go to Hellfest so bad. I don't think I've ever seen a line up as good as that. Of course it would be great to see King Diamond, Sabbath etc but Darkspace, Taake and Arcturus appeal to me the most. Not often you get to see those bands live. But, I have exams throughout June and probably shouldn't go. :( Any of you lot gonna go?

I would deffo go to that if I did festivals. And had money. Ha! The scheduling conflicts must be amazing, ridiculous lineup.

Anyone off to see Mastodon + Dillinger Escape Plan on Monday? Still not sure if I should trot down or not.

EDIT: Oh shit Alcest are playing Liverpool on 21st. Yeeeeeaaah

I'm headed to Mastodon tomorrow. Not sure if i'll like it in the bigger venue though. Last time I saw them they were upstairs in Manchester Uni in the small room, was great.

I have no clue when it comes to stoner rock/metal like this, so how does this fit in with High on Fire for example? I like this a lot more than HoF for some reason, but then there were a few HoF songs that I really liked but I never seemed to be able to grasp/listen to an entire album's worth.

Which was basically a confused way of saying, recommend me some Orange Goblin please. :)

Thieving from the House of God and Healing Through Fire are the best 2 IMO. The earlier stuff is more proper stoner than the rock n roll feel they have in recent years. I'll drop box them you later if you want?

So if people are gonna talk stoner stuff, then I'm legally bound to start banging on about Goatsnake.

The Milk Snatcher herself giving it the Doom Claw. Odd, I'd always had her down more as a grindcore kind of gal.

Mastodon were ace, Hunter stuff sounds a lot better live than on record too.

Jealous. I couldn't be bummed to traipse about the country to see them. It's one of those things that really annoys me about tours; just because England is quite small they think people can get to 1 of 5 places. I suppose if I was that bothered I could. PotUSA are playing in May or something (like the entirety of the first album) but they're playing 4 dates or some shit, the nearest of which is brum.

So if people are gonna talk stoner stuff, then I'm legally bound to start banging on about Goatsnake.

This. So much this.

Lal, dm me your email so I can sort out Dropbox.

A quick search reveals that I haven't mentioned Outcast yet, which is shameful. French metal has come a long way in the last few years, this band being of the technical death/thrash variety. Something like that anyway.

Outcast - Collapsed into Oblivion (from Self-Injected Reality)

Bonus metal from France:

Yyrkoon - Occult Medicine (from Occult Medicine, one of the best metal albums of the last decade imo)

Loudblast - The Bitter Seed (from Frozen Moments Between Life and Death)

Symbyosis - Quest of the Dolphin (taken from Crisis)

Gojira - Heaviest Matter in the Universe (live) (from From Mars to Sirius - everyone here has heard of Gojira right? On y va!)

Could someone turn the drums up a bit? I can barely hear them. :(

Saw Mastodon last night at the Barrowlands, they were awesome, the sound was a bit pants though. Really struggled to hear much definition. The new stuff was awesome, and they did Iron Tusk which was epic.

Dillinger were absolutely mental as well, not my kind of music as its to screamy, but they were entertaining to watch. The stage hand was having a busy night as the guitarist kept knocking stuff over all the time! And the lead singer did a number of stage dives which was funny! Good night all in really!

Just had a quick look at the total, still just over $1,000 to go :/ Made me bump my contribution up to $25.

Before I forget, there's a history of Metal thing doing the rounds on Sky Arts all this week at 9pm. It's by the guy who did "Metal:A Headbanger's Journey" and is essentially an expanded version of that documentary. They've done Glam and NWOBHM but it's Thrash/Death/Grind tonight which might be of interest.

In unrelated news, I discovered "The Devil's Blood" through their album "Thousandfold Epicentre". The weird thing is, they're basically Fleetwood Mac (so not really for this thread), but I must confess, i really like them and I don't know why. I bought the CD based solely on the fact that I liked the album cover, which is something I haven't done in a while.
