Good, you don't deserve to play through it.
It's a valid complaint, the text is so slow to display it's fucking painful to read unless you don't read good. I don't want to skip it, I want to be able to read it faster.

The issue I had with the Wii version, wasn't the removal of Clover in the credits (while disprespectful, it didn't hamper my enjoyment of the game). It was the PSO-esque rhythm based attacking system they introduced.

My other half couldn't really get into the timing, even though she was looking forward to playing it again after 100% the first game. Her opinion was that it hampered the game for no good reason, and I'd back her up on that.

I sort of wish this was a boxed release, it's lovely to have on the shelf - even if I already have it on the PS2 and Wii, this is still getting bought.

The PS2 version is far superior to the Wii one. Every new feature they introduced was hacked in and it didn't look nearly as nice as the original version.
The overly accurate motion controls artificially made dealing with the "stone slab guards" an absolute nightmare. Totally horrible to play, that bit.

I will not play this unless they introduce a way to skip through text quickly...

You mean like Zelda does?

I often wonder when developers don't want to bother with well written dialogue let alone spoken dialogue why they even bother putting it in in the first place.

Import the JPN version, problem solved, though I doubt that will be multi-language.

I've never played this, the constant comparisons to 3D Zelda put me off, it remains the only one of Kamiya's works I've never played. The runtime is also fairly offputting, that is quite a time investment for a non-portable game.

Some screenshots, they seem to have the filter effect missing from the Wii/emulated versions:

I don't think so, the 'rice paper' filter seems to be intact, which it wasn't in the Wii and it has pad controls, so either a bit of column A and a bit of column B or they've started from scratch with the PS2 code.
I disagree, visually it looks quite similar to the Wii port, it doesn't have that washed-out look of the PS2 version.

It looks more like the second shot than the first, no? Suppose you can pretty much get around that by turning down the contrast on your tv though.

Okami is one of my favourite games every. I know the dungeons were a bit light on gameplay but I just loved the characters, the story, the music and the combat. I still listen to the OST a lot. Shinshi Plains music is the bestest.

I hope the original credits are in there. So good...

Cross Play support for this would be most welcome.

Curiously enough I have both the Wii and the PS2 versions of this, that I never actually got around to playing. I think the run time and the fact there has always been something newer and shinier to play has left them there (I bought the Wii version because I still wanted to play it but my PS2 went kaput and I have the PAL version of the game and my PS3 is NTSC)

And even more curiously I am tempted by this even though it would probably suffer the same fate.

Still a Vita version and I'd be there day one - I just know its a game that I'd love if I can every give it the time it deserves...

A disc is a disc, it would work with PCSX2 on your laptop if your laptop can read discs, but surely you can rip that disc and play it from your HDD instead because then it performs about a million times better in PCSX2? The basic idea is (and I do wonder why I have to spell it out to a developer  ) that you bought and paid for that game, that you choose to play it on PCSX2 in glorious HD with all kinds of fancy AA instead of on your PS2 in low-res doesn't matter...
As a developer I just do written stuff (story, etc), so the rest I leave to my more tech-savvy colleagues  From living in a foreign country, I keep running into different systems for the same things (plugs, DVDs, consoles, etc), hence my doubt about whether a Chinese laptop would even work for this.
Anyway, yes, HD PS2 games does sound quite appealing, hmm...

Maybe I should have used ;) instead of  - it wasn't meant as an insult. IIRC you can simply use something like imageburn to make an .iso of the game and save that on your HDD somewhere and point the PS2 emu towards it.

Well, unless they've been using PS2 images for the announcement screenshots I think it looks pretty much like the PS2 version if you find an outside shot. Certainly looks better than the Wii one.

He missed the point I was making anyway. The video has the rice paper filter, the Wii version didn't because they couldn't replicate the effect on the hardware, therefore they must be using PS2 code or a mash of both.

No worries, I didn't take it as such ;) My apologies in return if I came off as overly defensive. Thanks for the info, definitely something to try for when work calms down and I have more time for actual gaming

This will be awesome.

Looking forward to all the little touches again, like every fifth or sixth lilly pad you create has a wee frog on it which hops off and swims away.

For those who like a nice box and have a fair chunk of sterling lying about, Capcom are releasing a collector's edition for the home market, will set you back about 10,600 JPY (£85) before delivery and maybe customs:

Daft question - I'm assuming move is optional?

This will be the 3rd time I've bought this... But I reckon it'll be the best version and I might end up finishing it.

Given that RE 4 never got a boxed release, it's safe to assume that Okami will be digital only here.

Maybe they'll get around to a Capcom PS2 HD classics collection when they've got enough standalone games to make it feasible, Ubisoft are releasing 3 of their standalone digital releases for the X360 on a single disc and the thatgamecompany Sony PS3 trilogy of titles is about to get a physical disc release too.

      Update courtesy of verbs:

Sony unveiled the first hardware specifications of its PlayStation 4 today, promising "supercharged PC architecture," an X86 processor and 8GB of GDDR5 unified system memory WTF. It's coming "holiday 2013."

      Cool Shit!

Suspend/Resume - Stop your game and put the PS4 into a low power state, pick up immediately where you left off when you come back.
Share - Post screenshots and video from your play sessions. It looked like you could wind back through your last ten minutes of gameplay, edit/trim it down and upload it. They did this onstage with Killzone: Shadow Fall.
Video Streaming - Stream your game out live to other users on the PS4 or ustream. People watching can give you tips like "Dude Look Out!" and even take control of your game temporarily to get you past a tough section.
Gakai Being Fast - The plan is to be able to select a demo and instantly begin streaming it. You'll also be able to start playing games while they download.

      Love it.

One thing I noticed, it appears to show a user streaming picture-in-picture, showing their gameplay AND their face via the new camera at the same time. Don't think they've mentioned that yet :)

Is it wrong that I'm most excited about hearing the startup sound for the first time?!

It looks quite a lot like big picture mode too.

      Pre-Conference Intro:
Last year Sony delivered an impressive pre-TGS press conference, announcing new PS4 games such as Guilty Gear Xrd, Lily Bergamo, Natural Doctrine and a new Gundam, as well as a healthy mix of Vita titles, such as Phantasy Star Nova, Yakuza Ishin, Danganronpa: Another Episode and Terraria.

They also found time to reveal the Vita Slim and surprised everyone by announcing a new console in the form of Vita TV (now rebranded as Playstation.TV in the West).

For those who would like to catch up with everything that was announced last year, you can watch the conferences and coverage here:

      Gamespot Conference Coverage:

      http://youtu.be/wiRl-61135g

With PS4, (and indeed the entire home console business) struggling in Japan, all eyes will be on Sony's ability to deliver knockout titles for their new console and get sales moving.

A fresh look at the new Final Fantasy and Kingdom Hearts sounds like a safe bet, Gravity Rush 2 seems like a cert, and there's whispers that we'll be seeing some big announcements from Team Ninja along with what Famitsu is teasing as a "Godzilla sized announcement" during their presser.

Sony themselves are saying that new game reveals were held back from Gamescom to be shown at TGS, and whilst Shu has conceded that there won't be any further news about The Last Guardian, he is promising a PS4 focussed event with lots of new game announcements. It's also likely that we'll see the first fruits of the Japanese indie scene on PS4/Vita, which Sony has been quietly championing.

We'll get a better idea at what Japanese indies are bringing to Playstation during the last night of TGS, when Playism Games will be hosting the Playstation x Playism Indie Stream. During this event (which sounds more like a party for indie developers to meet up and discuss ideas) we are promised a look at what Sony's plans are for Japanese indies, as well as a few big announcements.

Sony's presser will also be coming off the back of their sponsorship of Japan's popular Hatsune Miku Magical Mirai show, which makes use of PS4's new Dynamic Lighting AR Tech. The tech looks very sophisticated, and its hopeful that it will make an appearance in game form during the keynote.

So all in all, it sounds like Sony have a lot to show this year. Alarm clocks at the ready.  :)
Neither Nintendo or Microsoft will be hosting a TGS press conference this year.

    • Do you care about gesture control?
      By Mentazm
As per title. MS are putting all their eggs in one basket by bundling the Kinect, that no gamer I know wants, with the Xbone and adding a hefty margin on to the price.

My question is, and one MS should have asked as a dashboard poll on 360 or something, Do you care about gesture control?

I don't. I feel like an idiot shouting voice commands, I hate controlling games with gestures. Nothing is as accurate as a pad or keyboard and mouse.
