Login with your DISPLAY NAME, not old username   02/10/16

IP.board v4 has changed how you login. Previously, you had a username and a display name. The username would be used to login to the forum, whereas the display name would appear alongside posts. It's possible they were one and the same, but also possible that they changed over time, as you updated your display name. From now on, login with your display name. The username no longer exists.

Katawa Shoujo is a bishōjo-style visual novel by Four Leaf Studios that tells a story of a young man and five young women living with varying disabilities. The game uses a traditional text and sprite-based visual novel model with an ADV-style text box running on the Ren'Py visual novel engine.
The majority of the story takes place at the fictional Yamaku High School for disabled children, located somewhere in modern Japan. Hisao Nakai, a normal boy, has his life turned upside down when a long-dormant Cardiac dysrhythmia forces him to move to a new school after a long hospitalization. Despite his difficulties, Hisao is able to find friends, and perhaps love.
The gameplay of Katawa Shoujo is choice-based, with the player reading through text and occasionally making decisions that impact events or dialogue within the story. Depending on the choices made by the player, the story branches into a path chronicling Hisao's developing relationship with one of the five heroines.

Its also got Hentai in it..

Anyway, its apparently free so if you've got time to kill...

For all those dudes who always wanted to seduce a mangaspaz.

Sheesh...
I pos'ed this by accident instead of negging it. :(

Katawa Shoujo does sound like a game far more interesting to read about than play, which is a pity.

Replace the title and setting in that review and you pretty much have a universal review for every "visual novel" out there..

He said "pretty much". I think that qualifies things enough, considering that you've picked one good example in a genre from which a few years' output will fill a dozen shelves with DVD-sized games (seriously, they're big business in Japan). The only other decent one I can think of is Time Hollow for the DS, which wasn't up to Ace Attorney standards but wasn't completely shit either.

It actually seems pretty good compared to any of the ones I've tried in the past. There's actually some form of artistic merit within it, which is actually suprising.

Apparently so, no memes in sight yet though, I'll be honest it's kind of a shame it's a hentai as the opening is pretty interesting and we need more non-hentai visual novels!

This is basically made by 4chan, isn't it?
No.

Unless you mean in the same way Consolevania could be said to have been "made by rllmuk".

Did you ever set up cardboard barriers so that your friends couldn't see where your player was in Goldeneye?  We did, once, and decided it wasn't worth it.
But there's a new game coming which seems to encourage you to look at others' screens.  In fact, it's impossible without it.

It's been out on the PC for a year now.  Anyone played it?  Would you recommend?

    • The Humble Thread - Ubisoft Bundle - Gunslinger, Rayman, Far Cry, Splinter Cell, Assassins Creed

Since people seem to have an allergy to making new threads, I've done it. The Steam thread features quite a lot of bundle talk and key gifting, enough to support its own thread.

The Humble site got started as a series of pay-what-you-want bundles that gave money to various charities as well as their creators, and there have been some cracking ones involving some major games. They're available as torrents, direct downloads and Steam keys. Now they've launched their own store, dropping the pay what you want, but continuing the charity support.

Buy too many games and feel like you're doing a good thing while doing it.

      Yup, that's the actual title!

Only have done 3 campaign missions and so far this seems like the perfect marriage of casual and hardcore. You can hang back if you want to and take a beating, steadily build up your army and then full out attack or play it more competitive and go all macro keys on their asses. I never was one for RTS' like Starcraft but GG, while more in that direction, is very reminiscent of the old C&C/Red Alert games. They've taken a very back-to-basics approach here and it's great!

So get on this people of the internet! I need someone to tell me what I'm doing wrong when I have to restart the 2nd mission after 20 minutes and then later do end up winning, but only after like 30-40 minutes... It's pretty relentless (for me anyway).

Also, music by fucking Frank Klepacki!

Has anyone here played this yet?

I play King of the Hill on Arma and Wasteland and was wondering If this was worth a punt.

It's supposed to be not as heavy on the realism as Arma so was wondering If any Arma players have gone over to try it and whats their feedback so far.

Apologies If this has been posted already, I did try and search (please dont tell me there is already a post cause Ill look like a spa)
