Login with your DISPLAY NAME, not old username   02/10/16

IP.board v4 has changed how you login. Previously, you had a username and a display name. The username would be used to login to the forum, whereas the display name would appear alongside posts. It's possible they were one and the same, but also possible that they changed over time, as you updated your display name. From now on, login with your display name. The username no longer exists.

So it's a bit Trackmania, a bit SF Rush 2049 set on Wipeout-meets-Tron tracks that are trying to kill you :)

INFO
Nitronic Rush is an experimental survival driving game developed by students at DigiPen Institute of Technology. Using the car’s many abilities (including boost, wings, and jump), avoid obstacles that the city throws at you. In many ways the game is a tribute to racing games of the 1990′s, but with fresh graphics, audio, and gameplay.

Want to write about the game? We hope to make your life a bit easier, check out the Nitronic Rush Press Kit.
If the mods want to do a thread merge....I've just started playing this and I'd love to know which thread to post to!

Thanks mods! (Three threads have been merged.)

I've started playing this and I'm shocked...this could have easily sold as a commercial product. It's got the feel of Tron/Automan. Being able to fly for short bursts is a blessing and a curse...if you're quick enough you can recover from being thrown off the track. The thing even has achievements!

If you're a fan of the old Tron/cyberpunk look or you really liked Moterhead on the PSOne you need to play this.

Yeah i totally agree.
Real Motorhead vibe. And trains as well.

Would like to see some racing tracks based around this.

Nitronic Rush has had an update. Uninstall the old version and install the new version and you'll have a bug fixed version with more tracks that takes up half the disc space!

http://nitronic-rush.com/2011/12/nitronic-rush-update-1/

Apparently the soundtrack will be released at the end of the year for free!

Just discovered this on desura - http://www.desura.co...s/nitronic-rush

Worth a bumping.
Making a cock-up, falling off the track, then realising I could get my wings out and fly back up to land safely back on the track and go on to finish the course felt good :D

What's the game it reminds me of? Where you were a thingy and you bounced forward over gaps, it was sort of light pastel shades and futuristic. ropey looking plain 3d, quite old. You could change how fast you were going and I think some coloured surfaces made you bounce, slowed you down and stuff like that. Pretty sure I got it from an abandonware site when I first started pc gaming. Can't remember the name or anything but really want to play it.

Pretty sure it's Sky Roads:

Bloody great game.

EDIT: And the full game is here, for freeeee:

Although it doesn't like Windows 7 64 bit mode. I'll fiddle another day.

Aaaaaay, that's it! Christ knows how you got it from my vague description.
Not far off dimahoo, I almost thought it was that when I was watching a video. Cheers you two, might stick that on tomorrow for a few games :D

Nice to know the gaming establishment will get behind a game like this, when they really really like it ....

Yes it's been a while but I thought, that with this spiritual successor being done by core members of the same team, this would be worth sharing:

Couldn't find a thread for their pro-version / kickstarter / sequel - DISTANCE, so I thought might as well include this update video here:

Plus here are some vids I that cover the track editor toolset:

(there's a whole bunch more of them on this guy's channel)

Looking forward to seeing the first implementation of the replay mode tools (am guessing that'll be during Beta). Anyone here been enjoying the alpha version, if they got access to it as Kickstarter backer?
