I was going to suggest a list of recommended titles (for my own selfish reasons as I've not bought anything since PixelJunk Eden) so this is looking great.

Good idea. I am not too keen on adding the price for the following reasons: different zones within Europe (GBP, euro), PS+ discounts, regular discounts. I, for one, can not keep my entries up to date when it comes to pricing. Perhaps we can all agree to use the day-1 price for non PS+ subscribers.

Hmm, perhaps you're right and we simply shouldn't list a price at all. For instance I wanted to include the Euro pricing of Joe Danger in the example but a quick Google didn't give me anything. Hell, I'm not 100% about the Sterling cost without turning my PS3 on.

Speaking of prices, I've added the current Store deals into the first post. I did try to do some formatting to increase readability — the info itself is from the European PlayStation.Blog — but it's still rather horrible so I might have to give it another pass.

Online sources for PSN can be quite poor - apparently the lists on Wikipedia, particularly for the PSP stuff, are horrendously outdated.

Pretty sure there's already a PSN games thread. However, feel free to fill this one and I'll merge them when it gets dug up.

I just wish they'd just finally get around to releasing the last episode of Back to the Future. The EU store seems to get them a completely random amount of time after the US.

I've added a few games to the highlight section to give people an idea of what I'm aiming for; I don't think any of them are contentious choices, although if you disagree feel free to say why. Likewise the blurbs are off the top of my head, so you're welcome to offer up corrections or rewrites.

As apparently I'm in the mood for making myself work by setting precedents, if you click on the title of a game it will take you to the corresponding dedicated thread if it has one.

Looks like I'll be stumping up some more this week! PS+ 3 month top up, Limbo a discount rate, and then Peggle and Anarchy Rush Hour at those lowered prices! Must resist the Burnout DLC!!

Good work on the thread, Aimless. :)

Shark, avoid Anarchy at all costs. Terrible game, controls are terrible, layout is terrible, pretty much everything about the game is terrible.

Wow! Thanks for the tipoff. I'd seen it on so many players trophy lists that I thought it must be good but investigating after your comments it would appear its a whores platinum!

Seems like a good place to put this!

Section 8: Prejudice is released next week (27th of July) on the PSN for £12.99 with two extra modes not included in the XBLA relase

http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2011-07-13-section-8-prejudice-dated-for-psn

If you buy it within the first week of release you get Blitz Armor Pack and Overdrive Map Pack for free.
On top of that, the first 1,000 PSN+ users who buy the game will also get the exclusive Hunter Armor as well as a free copy of the original Section 8.

Here we go.
Wipeout HD

Sci-Fi Racer | SCEE Studio Liverpool | Up to 8 Player (Online) | Trial Available

Super slick futuristic racer, with a great soundtrack. Pretty much a "best of" previous games with old tracks redone in HD. 'Fury' expansion pack basically doubles the number of tracks and ships. Gets blindingly fast later on or at any time in Zone Mode. Pretty much the best thing on PSN (and also on a disc). BUY IT!

Super Stardust HD

Twin Stick Shooter | House Marque | Up to 4 Player (Local Only) | Trial Available

Travel in orbit of a planet shooting meteors, upgrade weapons to deal with different types of meteors, and take out evil space nasties that come after you. Looks incredible and once you settle into it's rhythm plays just as well. Has an expansion pack with new modes that are kind of fun also? Protip: upgrade weapons to 100% in this order: Green, Red, Blue.

Chime Super Deluxe

Music Puzzler | Zoe Mode | Up to 4 Player Co-Op/ Versus (Local Only) | Trial Available

The XBLA game, made better in every way; more songs, more boards and a completely rewritten game engine.Build Tetris-esque shapes into large "quads" to cover the play area and create music. Confused? This trailer should help you out:

Scott Pilgrim vs the World

Side-Scolling Beat-em-up | Ubisoft Montreal Studios | Up to 4 Player (Local Only) | Trial Available

Did you like River City Rampage? Then this is for you. Based more on the comic than the movie, this is a solid retro beat-em-up that plays super smoothly. Beautiful sprites, awesome chiptune music and a decent sense of humour, even if you're not familiar with the source material. Also hard as shit until you buy items to upgrade your stats; levelling up doesn't actually increase them

Riff Everyday Shooter

Twin Stick Shooter | Queasy Games | Single Player | No Trial

I think this is good? You're a tiny dot that can only shoot in 8 directions, and enemies drop dots and phat beats. Points can be used to unlock goodies, from more starting lives to various visual filters. The level pictured is actually impossible.
Thanks, I've added your entries and resized the images to 640x360 to keep things consistent; blame my OCD.

In other news I've moved the Highlights list to the second post and laid the groundwork for a FAQ beneath it, the idea being that the first post will host the newest info whilst the second is more for reference. It's also to try and make editing things a bit easier, as I was getting lost sifting through all the code.

Does anyone have suggestions for the FAQ?

Can I ask, as I have before but nobody seems to know the answer (which is bizarre since it is so popular), but does Super Stardust have the into-the-screen between level sections of the original? How similar to the original is it?

Because I loved that but hated the between level bits.

    • PS3 Shooters
      By Vorgot
As I am coming to the end of my PS3 games that I really want to play, I realise I have not played a decent FPS for ages. So did some trawling round the shops and PSN, and there seem to be some bargains to be had. I'm after games with a good campaign, not bothered with MP, and I guess some servers will be gone now anyway. So I've grabbed
Borderlands 1 and 2 and The Orange Box, was looking to grab a couple more. Resistance 3 seems a solid bet, as does SIngularity for being a bit different. Was also going to grab a Crysis game, which is best, 2 or 3?
Any other suggestions of stuff I might be missing? I really enjoyed Spec Ops, but I can't think of a shooter that has grabbed me since CoD2 (I did play the Black Ops campaign as well). Didn't get on well with Far Cry Blood Dragon either.
    • Hitman - March 11th 2016 - PS4 + PC beta starts today!
      By Jimmy Shedders
      CGI announcement trailer:

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LVqxMCZ3u6k

      First proper trailer:

      https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kA_Mx3-ZMGE

      Gameplay details from reddit Q&A:

      - Sniper rifle carried in case and needs to be assembled/packed up again rather than the magic pockets of Absolution
      - Hiding gun behind back when near NPCs from Blood Money returns
      - 'accident' hits for targets return
      - minimap now tells you where disguises are effective
      - full-screen map also returns with points of interest marked
      - Diana gives updates over the earpiece e.g telling you movements of the target
      - some comedy disguises seem to be back
      - alerts can trigger lockdowns - civvies leave the area and security conduct a sweep, after which everything returns to normal. These can be triggered strategically e.g by activating fire alarms
      - guards alertness indicated by yellow/red markers over their heads
      - certain guards are 'observant' meaning they will bust your disguise more easily. This is often logical, such as head-of-security knowing all his staff. These guards are marked on the minimap to avoid trial and error.
      - metal detector checkpoints return
      - save anywhere instead of checkpoints
      - guards can find mines you've places and will take them away for investigation (much like guards finding your specialist guns lying around in Blood Money and taking them back to the security room).
      - a form of 'Instinct' seem to return, like Batman's detective vision, highlighting points of entry/egress and guards.
      - shoving people returns. Including over railings.
      - throwing objects seems to have returned
      - choose weapons and equipment before entering a level
      - David Bateson voicing 47 again
      - Gameplay closest to Blood Money out of any game in the series

      http://www.videogamer.com/ps4/hitman/preview-3901.html

      "More Blood Money than Absolution"

"Going by the initial presentation, Hitman appears to be the game fans have been waiting for since 2006's Hitman: Blood Money, with huge sandbox environments and an unprecedented amount of opportunities to assassinate your target"

      -----------
Playing Theatrhythm recently has evoked a wave of nostalgia, so I'm starting an epic quest to revisit every Final Fantasy game, starting with the first. The Vita will be my weapon in this journey, and this forum will be my log of events, and my thoughts and opinions as I progress through the series.
I have absolutely no idea how long this will take (probably years), but let's start at the start with Final Fantasy.
Originally released on the NES in 1987 and so titled because it was to be a near-bankrupt Squaresoft's final game, before it got popular and spawned eleventy-billion sequels.
The original Final Fantasy has been re-released many times. It and Final Fantasy II were 'remade' for the Wonderswan with better graphics; that version was ported to the GBA and PSone, and then it was remade again with higher resolution graphics for the PSP. That's the version I'm playing now. I wish I could do screengrabs of PSP games because it looks incredible. All the sprites, backgrounds and music have been redone, and there's a lovely touch where shadows of clouds pass over the towns.
I played the NES version many years ago, via emulator. I got about half way through before getting lost and giving up. I played it again on GBA in 2003, and completed it that time, but I can't remember much of it.
It starts quite unlike any of the other games, with no fanfare or theatrics. Your four characters are blank slates, to whom you must asign names and jobs, and are then dumped into the game world, just outside of Cornelia city.
I've gone for a Warrior, a Black Mage, a White Mage and a Thief. This should be a balanced enough setup. I've never tried using the Thief before, so I don't know what they can do. Pick a bad team and you're screwed - there's no chance to change them once you begin!
The world is falling apart, the light of the crystals is fading, and only the four warriors of light can restore the light to them. King Cornelia's daughter has been kidnapped by Garland and taken oop north, so I'm sent on a quest to rescue her. As plots go, it's pretty tedious, but hey, it was the eighties...

So Campo Santo (for those of who who don't know) is the new studio from Jake Rodkin, Sean Vanaman, (both previously from Telltale Games, also from Idle Thumbs), renowned artist Olly Moss, Lead designer on Mark of the Ninja Nels Anderson, former Double Fine guy Chris Remo, and a few others.

And from the description and artwork alone, this could be something really special.
