It's a vertical platformer, horizontal platformer, adventure, RPG and shooter rolled into one. It was the zany experiment next to Metroid's size and focus.
I've never quite understood the obsession with Kid Icarus, but this does look like it could be fun.
It was awesome.
It is awesome again.
Damn and Reaper looks AMAZING. Hopefully the Reapettes are upgraded similarly.

I've been waiting for this since '92.
Better late than never, right?

That's because you have no soul...
I haven't been waiting at all.

Dungeons and Ol' Egghead! It really is Kid Icarus in all its facets! (Now show me Centurions as I'm greedy!)

KID ICARUS: UPRISING
One of the most longed-for franchises from Nintendo's long history makes its glorious return in spectacular 3-D. Kid Icarus is back in a new game designed specifically for the Nintendo 3DS system by Kirby™ and Super Smash Bros.™ creator Masahiro Sakurai and his development team at Project Sora.
- Kid Icarus: Uprising is a fast-paced and action-packed blend of aerial and ground-based shooting built on elegantly intuitive and streamlined play control. Boasting game play that is easy to pick up but incredibly deep, the game is sure to satisfy novice gamers as well as fans who have been clamoring for a new installment in the franchise.
- The hero, Pit, teams up with Palutena, the goddess of light, who bestows on him the miracle of flight for limited stretches. With this gift, Pit soars through skies, shooting down swarms of enemies along the way, before finally setting down and engaging in frantic ground-based battles against Medusa's underworld army.
- Kid Icarus was originally released for the Nintendo Entertainment System™ in 1987, and gamers have been clamoring for a new game in the series for years. Kid Icarus: Uprising is the first installment in 20 years and brings the popular Pit character to life in an action-packed game.
That last bit is a lie btw. Kid Icarus II: Of Myths and Monsters was released in 1991/1992 for Game Boy. It seems Pit has been out of the running for so long that even Nintendo doesn't know what's fact any more.

To be honest if this was any other publisher or IP nobody would give this a second glance.
It looks very generic. I dunno, there was better on show than this. I hope I'm wrong and I'm buying this on launch day.

I downloaded it on the VC a couple of years ago and it's one the worst games I've ever played. Would fit nicely with all the archaic trash that's been released for Microsoft's Game Room.
Ouch I guess thats a dig at my sig.
Looking at the video Meerman posted its clear this is just going to be a nostalgia trip for those that played and loved the orginal all those years ago and everyone else will struggle to share the excitement. The only similarity it seems is that you a play cherub shooting at beasties and the game has Kid Icurus in the title.
