I just found out shes done covers of Iris by Goo Goo Dolls and Colourblind by Cownting Crows for this new EP too

Why does she keep doing this? She's done Run and now Iris, Colourblind and Hurt and they all sound the same. Start slow and build up and then belt out the last 60 seconds . Boring, horrible and bland covers.

someone start sending messages to Reznor on Twitter, calling him out on taking a load of fat cash for that - see how long it takes for him to throw his toys out the pram again.

^^^^ this is an excellent idea.

As far as I know, no-one can stop anyone covering any song they like. They just pay publishing fees or something like that. I could be wrong, but that's my understanding.

I remember Noel Gallagher denied permission for a Smurfs cover of Wonderwall so it must be true to some degree. I suspect it's down to who owns the publishing rights or something like that.

Utterly crap. Both Reznor's original and Cash's cover are powerful and raw in their own ways, but that is awful and lifeless.

Basically this, publishers, depending on the terms of the deal can decide on who gets to release a cover version or use the original recording. Some artists demand that their music isn't able to be used by other people or as the soundtrack to an advert or whatever.

All the giving away of music and bucking against record labels that Trent's done in the past couple of years would suggest to me that he's probably not signed off on this cover. If you're of a mind to think he has, I'd ask why, I'd suggest that he probably doesn't need the cash from it at the very least.

Jesus that cover of Hurt is abysmal. Im by no means a fan of NIN but that song is just an excellent track, and Cash's cover as others have said is poigninat and emotional...this is just Leonas A&R telling her "Leona were worried youre not marketing yourself to the edgier, emo dollar, THE KIDS LOVE THE EMO NOWADAYS", and this was the result.

She should have done Atmosphere by Joy Division instead.

It has only just occurred to me that hearing Leona singing (with venom) "I wear my crown of shit, on my liar's chair" would've been hilarious. Missed opportunity.

(she skips that verse entirely in case you've avoided listening).

It's almost as bad as Bruce Willis' Blues album.

Lakefest, the most ironic music festival of 2012. So ironic not even hipsters would touch it.

I saw it on the Q music channel earlier. I would normally change the channel but I had to know who they were.

You'll be sad to hear that the Levellers have pulled out following an injury to their fiddle player. It's been speculated (by me) that he may have been mauled by a dog on a string.

Have no fear though, the organisers have pulled out all the stops to secure Athlete as their replacement.

Fucking athlete, don't get me started. If I had to choose between smothering them or hard fi I'd be hard pressed to choose. The thing I try to bear in mind about these sort of bands is that they inevitably vanish after a couple of years, usually after their second album sinks without a trace. They only re-appear five years later when some numpty posts a video in your facebook feed saying 'top track love this' and the horror you initially felt resurfaces, like remembering something horrible that you've done in the distant past. And by the way, I've just had to go to youtube to voice my revulsion at hard fi on a video of theirs, so I'm expecting to be flagged as spam and silenced shortly.

I remember Athlete had quite a jolly lead single off their first album, then when they reappeared with their second release they were essentially a different band all together. Still shit mind, but really morose and downbeat. They had that bloody awful overwrought dirge of a song about a poorly baby. What a toe tapper that was.

It turns out I've been upvoted for my comments on hard fi rather than silenced, with a few more likes I'll be underneath the video itself, which would be nice

5 cunts on the roof of some insurance company in Milton Keynes. Someone smash my lobes in with a hammer, I'd rather be suffocated than listen to this plodding dogshit.
