More than anything else, I'm just surprised Adam Capone owns a cooker and knows how to use it. I always pictured him scrabbling around on a chip shop floor looking for 'treasures'

pretty much - for the meatballs 500g of mince, 50g breadcrumbs, 75g of mozzarella, some finely chopped fresh parsley, a teaspoon of oregano , 1 teaspoon of salt, 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper and 2 crushed cloves of garlic.

the sauce is 1 small onion diced, 200m of beef stock, 2 jars of asda roasted red pepper meze (or the equivalent from your supermarket) , 2 tbsp tomato puree, juice of 1 orange and 1 tablespoon of balsamic vinegar.

Put the mince, breadcrumbs, garlic, herbs and seasoning in a bowl and mix together well then shape into 12 golf ball sized pieces and flatten out. Divide the mozzarella into 12 bits place in the middle of the patty them close around and pinch it so it doesn't split.

put 3 tablespoons of olive oil in the pan and fry the meatballs for 10 mins turning occasionally to make sure they cook evenly then remove from the pan and stick on a plate.

Add the onion to the juices in the pan and cook till it softens then add the peppers, orange juice, tomato puree, stock and vinegar stir together and bring to the boil. Give the whole mixture a quick puree with a hand blender (just to make the sauce smooth) then place the meatballs back in the pan and simmer on a low heat for about 25 mins.

I served on a bed of spaghetti with a sprig of parsley on top for colour ;)

Dead easy to make and tastes superb.

Makes enough for 4 - 6 people (or 3 fat gits)

I'm not saying it's not - Broccoli with sausage, cheese and mayo on toast, not for me.

Cauliflower & Broccoli Cheese is ace though.

Home-grown spuds cut up dinkily, par-boiled then fried in a little olive oil, chilli flakes, pepper and a pinch of ground coriander.

Simple fare, some would say one dimensional, but there you have it - that was my dinner. :(
