Watch this amazing programme, then pin your Yacht Rock favourites to the mast.

Mad props going out to my men esar and Ben 'Filthy Oven' Isaacs.

I've a friend who's mad into all this stuff, he's got a framed LP on his wall of Donald Fagan's The Nightfly and is massively into Steely Dan. All I know is Michael McDonald's "I Keep Forgettin'" is a stone cold classic. Are the Doobie Brothers considered Yacht Rock? Long Train Running is another great track

Ah yeah, this is the topic the music folder was invented for!
Larrydavidsanger, imo The Doobie Brothers are the quintessential yacht rock band.

Right then, where to start? I think i'll go for a bit of Boz Scaggs to kick things off:

Also, go to this: http://www.getcloser.com/Event/Yacht+Rock+...f+the+Gods/878/

My boss is one of the people behind it, but his wife's just had a baby so won't be DJing there for a few months.

Oh, dopeness. That's been sampled in one of MF Doom's instrumentals.

Is Yacht Rock pretty much another name for blue-eyed soul?

Although I think there is some crossover between the genres there is a difference, i'd say people like Bobby Caldwell and Average White band are much more blue-eyed soul whereas Yacht Rock is more bands like The Eagles, Chicago etc.
But I think it is a very open term and can encompass any artist you'd play on your own personal yacht while sipping on a Martini.

I'll try and do a list when i'm not so busy at work.

Basically, it's 'What A Fool Believes', plus this:

And some other stuff, of course!

I watched 'Arthur' tonight for the first time in my life in honour of this thread. 'Arthur's Theme (Best That You Can Do)' is like a Yacht Rock bookend to that movie.

Oh yes, they've got it! Wonderful stuff.

The first track reminded me a bit of Atlantic Avenue by the Average White Band for some reason.

As I've already posted, most Steely Dan is Yacht Rock, but I'm posting a link to this one just on the off chance someone hasn't heard it before, and if you strain your ears you can hear Michael McDonald's amazing backing vocals soaring through the crappy youtube quality.

Loving the steel drums in that, I think it could be the yachtest rock song i've ever heard.
