Dredd 3D

I just googled Jason Statham and realised he's that cunt from the Transporter films. The awful, awful Transporter films. Are you lot (who would like to see Statham play Dredd) out of your fucking minds? Dredd must, and shall, be played by Ron Perlman.

Transporter 1 and 2 were amazingly over the top fun films, as was is other movie Crank. However, there's no way he should be Dredd especially if they put him in an American accent. Did anyone ever see The One?

Can you imagine a 15 minute Supersurf 10 finale to the film through that?!

If they do decide to include the Dark Judges, Daphne from BBC2's 'Eggheads' would make a fantastic Judge Death, when she smiles wide enough to show her teeth the similarity is uncanny.

Ron Perlman would be perfect, as would Dolph Lundgren, but they're both long in the tooth.

I kindof hope that they cast an unknown, its not like he'll need to channel Stanislavskian lovey wank to nail the part.

You bastard, Mitchell - Chopper's stories were always my favourites, and seeing them surfing through that would be utterly amazing.

So's Dredd now but it depends what era (if any specific one) they choose to adapt.
What I'd really like (but I know we're not going to get) is a proper old-fashioned Dredd, drawing on the huge amount of material in, say, the first 400 progs. I want to see Uglies, Blobs, the League of Fatties, the Palais de Boing, the Smokatorium, Resyk, mo-pads, knee-pads, massive boots, Uncle Ump, Max Normal, Call-Me-Kenneth and Walter the Robot.

Of course I'd settle for a half-decent film that doesn't mess about with the key elements of the story, but even that's probably hoping for too much...
Yeah. Judge Dredd as dark and violent would bore me to tears. Judging by the concept art, that's what they're going for. Yawn.

Judge Dredd as hilarious parody of America / modern society is much, much better. Bright, colourful, daft and funny, with the fatties and the uglies and the jimps, and the fashion crazes that last less than a day. That's the only thing that would hold any interest for me.

Uncle Ump's an amazing story. The poor fella did nothing wrong!

I can't imagine anyone putting up money to produce a new movie would be willing to part with their cash for anything but dark and violent at the moment. The best we can hope for is a film with a lot of the mad stuff in the background and Dredd delivering some very deadpan lines.
So it'll be basically the Stallone version all over again?
No, it would be Robocop.

I'm almost right there with you except for:

1) Supersurf 10 was held in Oz.
2) I already know who won!

Now if we're talking about an as-yet-unscripted illegal Supersurf through the streets of Mega City One (a la Supersurf 7)... well, I'd be all over that like a cheap suit.

That's precisely why they'd be perfect! Especially Ron Perlman. My god, that would be sooo good. I AM THE JAW.

Apparently they took a lot of the humour out of the Stallone movie script because the studio thought it was too much like Robocop.

Basically, do the 'Democracy' arc.

ALTERNATIVELY: Do The Pit as a Hill Street Blues style police procedural television series.
