Happy Xmas and New year to my poker buds.

It's been a while, so shall we play a little game or two? I'm thinking 1st/2nd weekend in Jan.

Let me know...

Kate and I are definitely in for either of those dates. I'll check with Martin, Alan and Nick in case any of them are around.

Alan's in, but he's working until late afternoon on the Saturday, so would prefer for it to be Sunday if possible.

Nick's in as well.

I'm out of the country from tomorrow until Friday, so don't worry if you can't get hold of me until the weekend -- we're definitely on for Sunday.

sounds good to me.....i need a boost after my beat on Friday.

Here goes

OK here's what happened.

Down to final 12 of 64/65 at the casino, top 10 pay out, 10th would have picked up 60...I'd invested 29.....top prize was around 850

Had ridden my luck, hitting some flush draws and having small pairs hold up a couple of times, but had not managed to build up my stack to around 15000-16000 chips, just above average for the tournament at that point.

The big stack to my right had lost some chips to me when my pocket 8's stood up against his K - 7 a little earlier.

I pick up KK in mid position. The big stack raises six thousand before me, I reraise all in......everyone fold to him, he calls with KQ

I'm delighted......for now.

Flop comes J - x - x .....all good
Turn comes A
River comes 10

I got up and walked away like Ed in Lock Stock and Two Smoking barrells from the boxing ring....I tried to calculated the odds of him hitting those two cards...it hurt my head.

Had I won that pot I would have been 2nd chip leader in the tournament and easily made the final table with a big stack.....If this had happened early in the tournament or even if he had shown A - x and hit his Ace I would have been ok with that....buit runner runner to make a straight...absolutely sick

Excellent, I'll get my rabble together for around 12ish then. Oh, and my friend James (Nick's flatmate) would also like to play if there's still room. He's not played a huge amount before, but I've taken him through the basics.

We've certainly got room for a couple more. Be good to have newcomers. See you tomorrow.

We'll normally get three tourneys in. A fiver buy-in for each with a pound for a bounty. Plus a tenner for a pizza. Quite a cheap day. You're more than welcome to join us.

Going to have to give this one a miss unfortunately. I've been ill for the last few days and can't afford to miss work tomorrow. But me and my flatmate will be definitely down for the next one, if there's room.

Shame about this week, but just keep any eye on this thread for the next one. We try to have a game every 3-4 weeks.

Who's up for some poker this weekend? Friday night? How about it people?

We should get everyone's e-mail address as well, so we can have an easy way to make sure at least everyone who regularly attends doesn't miss out on info for the next poker night.

I can do Friday night. I have got the Beer Hand Open on Saturday, but that doesn't start until 1pm, so I can get a few hours sleep before that starts.

I'm in!

Boo. Unfortunately I'm flying to Ireland for the weekend on Friday, so I won't be able to make this. Annoying. Have a good one though. Oh, and good luck to Thush for Saturday. Here's hoping you can go one better this time.

Sorry to not see you, Billy. Would Alan or Martin or anyone else be up for it?

M-P, can you see if Howie/Craig are around? Howie was very keen to play when I saw him at Craig's b'day do.

I think Martin's totally skint at the moment, but I imagine Alan would fancy it. I'll check with them both and get back to you.

Neither of them can make it, I'm afraid. Martin's out of cash as I say, and Alan has to work early on Saturday. Hope you can still get enough people together.

Bah. I think we should cancel tomorrow. It's not going to happen with decent numbers so let's postpone.

all I have to say is "save your gbp's for next month!" if no one shows up for the poker night when I'm in town on the 13th, I'm going to take jameson's television in exchange!
